Today, we share a heartfelt thank you to our Co-Founder and former CEO, Kurt Workman. His vision wasn’t just about innovation — it was personal. As a parent, he knew the fear that can come with bringing a baby home. So he built something to ease it. Under his leadership, Owlet became a category-defining brand, launching two FDA-cleared products that have empowered millions of families with greater peace of mind. Kurt will continue to be a guiding force at Owlet as he transitions into the role of Executive Chair of the Board. We’re thrilled to welcome Jonathan Harris as our new CEO. A key leader at Owlet for several years, Jonathan has served as Chief Revenue Officer, President, and now President and CEO. With a deep respect for our mission and a passion for purposeful innovation, Jonathan brings the experience and empathy to guide Owlet into its next era. His focus: making our FDA-cleared technology even more accessible to families everywhere. October carries a profound weight for many families. It is both Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and SIDS Awareness Month - a time of remembrance, healing, and collective advocacy. At Owlet, we know that behind every statistic is a story, a family, and a love that endures. To every parent who has walked this unimaginable path, whether you speak your child’s name aloud or hold their memory quietly, we see you, we honor your angels, and we hold space for your grief and your strength. But this October is not only about remembrance. It’s also about change. That’s why our team is heading to Washington, D.C. to support a powerful piece of legislation: the Baby Observation Act (H.R. 2168). In 2022, over 3,700 infants in the U.S. lost their lives to Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID), including SIDS and rates are rising. A 2024 JAMA Pediatrics study reported an 11.8% increase in SUID deaths from 2020 to 2022. The BO’s Act could help explore how trusted, home-based infant health monitoring can support research and innovation aimed at protecting our most vulnerable.
