  • Earlier this week, our President Mitch Aeder travelled to Julis, a Druze village in northern Israel, to meet with Sheikh Mowafak Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community. He also visited the operations room and logistics center where all of the much-needed humanitarian aid for the Druze community in Syria is being coordinated and prepared. This meaningful visit was made possible thanks to the warm and deep connections that our OU-JLIC Tel Aviv community has built with the Druze community. We are committed to raising and contributing financial support for the humanitarian operations taking place in Julis. This support will go directly towards purchasing medical and food supplies for Suweyda. Although the killing has stopped, Suwayda remains under siege with little or no electricity. Aid collected in Julis currently arrives in Suweyda via IDF airdrop. Help show the Druze community that the American Orthodox community stands with them by donating now at ou.org/druze/

  • We are proud, sad, and angry. We remain proud of Israel and its army, the only moral fighting force in the region striving to abide by internationally accepted laws of war on a battlefield never faced by another modern army and to live up to its own higher standard of purity of arms established upon the founding of the IDF. We are genuinely sad about the mounting human costs which - as intended by Hamas - this war is inflicting on Israelis and innocent Palestinians. And we are angry at those who only ascribe to Israel the worst intentions and all responsibility while ignoring Hamas’ inhumanity and the simple fact that it remains the initiator of this war and its suffering and could end it tomorrow - but chooses not to.

  • 🕊️ In his recent The Jerusalem Post op-ed, “From naivety to hatred: How misinformation is fueling antisemitism in America”, our EVP Rabbi Moshe Hauer urges leaders—Jewish and non-Jewish—to confront not only the perpetrators of antisemitism, but also the narratives that enable them. When distorted claims like “genocide” are left unchallenged, they become the modern-day blood libels. 📖 Click here to read the OpEd in JPost: https://lnkd.in/ebiZeh9V

The numbers from JLIC Tel Aviv's Operation Rising Lion response are staggering - but it's the stories behind them that really matter. In 12 days, this community of young professionals fed over 1,200 IDF reservists, helped 600 people whose homes were damaged or destroyed, and cleaned up 35 apartments hit by rockets. One couple got engaged during the chaos after their apartment was destroyed. The guy told his fiancée that "enemies can destroy our possessions but not our spirit." Their ring was stuck in another country, her parents' flight got diverted to Rome, and they spent the week running to bomb shelters. The community somehow made their engagement happen anyway. Then there's Raz, a kid whose home was completely destroyed, saying his evacuation hotel birthday party was the best he'd ever had because JLIC made sure he was celebrated. None of this happened overnight. JLIC Tel Aviv had spent years building relationships with the Tel Aviv Municipality, sister communities, and partners across Israeli society. When crisis hit, those connections became the infrastructure for massive relief efforts. There's a lesson here: real community isn't built in moments of crisis - it's built in all the quiet relationship-building that happens before the crisis hits. #community #israel #leadership
