  • While flashy visualizations steal the spotlight, what really makes our interactive embedding shine is how it handles authentication behind the scenes 🛡️ This diagram shows exactly how SSO works its magic to create that secure, seamless experience your users will love. Here's how it flows: Your app gets asked to show some analytics. It checks if there's a valid session. No session? No problem - it just sends them to your SSO login. Once they're authenticated with all the right permissions, they see their personalized data. Simple as that. The best part? Users only see what they're supposed to see, super important if you're in healthcare, finance, or multi-tenant apps.

  • Spinning the chart wheel again? 🎲 Cut through the chaos. Abed's new video shows how to pick the best chart every time. Learn which charts make comparing categories a breeze, how to nail trends over time, and when to use visualizations for part-to-whole or relationship data. No more guessing: whether you’re visualizing changes, proportions, or spotting patterns, you’ll know which chart tells your story best. Check the comments to download the free PDF ↓

    Data Analyst l Metabase | SQL | Looker | Retool | Low Code | Redshift | DBT | BigQuery | Mage

Since I started Luciano Vasconcelos Filho's engineering courses, I’ve been rolling up my sleeves and applying what I learned. I decided to build a pipeline using MongoDB’s sample database as my raw data source. Then ran Mage locally in Docker, Inc Compose to extract and load JSON documents into #Bigquery (dataset raw_airbnb). Next came the heart of the project: I used dbt Labs Core to transform that raw data into clean, tested tables first casting and exploding arrays in a staging layer, then building host and calendar dimensions, assembling business-ready “trusted” models, and finally exposing delivery marts for consumption. To keep my SQL style consistent, I added pre-commit hooks and wired the entire flow into GitHub Actions so that every push triggers Mage, dbt run, dbt test, and dbt docs generate. On the infrastructure side, everything runs in Docker containers. I spun up a small GCP Compute Engine VM (Ubuntu 22.04) to host Metabase in its own container, mapping port 80 to 3000 so anyone can click through the demo dashboards. Along the way I hit a few bumps that taught me a ton, yes, I spent an hour wondering why Metabase wouldn’t show up until I realized I’d never opened port 80 in the firewall. 🤦♂️ This project showed me how containers eliminate “it works on my machine” surprises, how dbt’s layered approach builds confidence with tests and documentation, and how BigQuery lets me focus on analytics rather than server maintenance. I’m proud of how smoothly each tool plays its part, and for more details, check out the repository link in the comments below. #AnalyticsEngineering #DataInfrastructure #dbt #Docker #BigQuery #Metabase #CI_CD #mage #mongodb #sql
