The global energy transition is accelerating, bringing new infrastructure investments, emerging technologies, and increasingly complex construction risks. From renewable energy developments and battery storage systems to advanced nuclear facilities and AI-driven data centers, large-scale energy projects involve multiple stakeholders, interconnected contracts, and significant financial commitments. When disputes arise, delays can have consequences that extend far beyond construction schedules. In 2025 alone, the AAA-ICDR administered 108 energy arbitrations under its Commercial and International Rules and 92 energy-related disputes under its Construction Industry Arbitration Rules, highlighting the growing intersection between these industries. So, how can project stakeholders address disagreements before they escalate into costly, project-threatening disputes? In our latest blog, AAA-ICDR VP of Commercial Chimdimma Onyedebelu and Secretariat Managing Director Iman Hyder-Eliz explore how proactive dispute management strategies, including standing neutrals, dispute boards, mediation, and arbitration, can help stakeholders manage risk, preserve project timelines, and support successful infrastructure delivery.
