Mayor George Lantz and the mayors of City of Arvada, City of Aurora, City of Glendale, City of Lafayette, Colorado, and City of Westminster co-authored an open letter to Coloradans vowing to preserve the constitutional right of Home Rule. The communities filed a lawsuit against the state and Governor Polis in May, asserting that two land use bills enacted during the 2024 legislative session are blatantly unconstitutional. Last month, Greenwood Village's Communications Manager Mike Stewart and 9-1-1 Communications Specialist Kara attended National Emergency Number's (NENA) 9-1-1 Goes To Washington. Joining over 400 public safety professionals from around the nation, they met with legislative representatives to educate and advocate for the 9-1-1 SAVES Act. The 9-1-1 SAVES Act was reintroduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on January 16 and would officially reclassify 9-1-1 dispatchers as first responders on the federal level, giving these vital professionals the recognition they deserve.
