Your donation will be matched this month! 💚✨ After a successful matching gift campaign in March (thanks to you!), the Beers Family has once again generously committed to supporting our efforts to build more affordable housing through another matching gift campaign. During our Spring Appeal, the Beers will be matching the first $10,000 donated to GMHFH in the month of June! We are so incredibly grateful for their support, and we are excited to give you the opportunity to double your impact. Your dollars will be used to build affordable homes right here in Northwest Vermont, meaning that your donations stay local and help your community. 🤩 Don’t wait! Building homes, changing lives in Northwest Vermont.
About us
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity began in 1984 when a group of concerned citizens gathered to take action on the lack of affordable housing in the region. Since then, the organization has continued to build homes, community, and hope in a service area that includes Chittenden, Franklin, Grand Isle, and Lamoille counties. Families and individuals in need of a hand-up partner with Green Mountain Habitat to build a safe, energy-efficient, and affordable place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering, or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability, and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit vermonthabitat.org.

On Saturday we had a great Stuff the Truck event with Keller Williams Vermont! 🔑 It’s community partnerships like this one that helps us give families the opportunity to become homeowners. Thank you for all you do! Special shoutout to Jordan LaFond for helping to coordinate this event and for being a stellar volunteer! 🏠 #vermont #habitatforhumanity #communitypartner #donation #nonprofit

Exciting updates for our St. Albans build! 🔨🚜 Progress has begun! DJ’s Tree Service was at the lot this morning removing trees in preparation for excavation. We’d like to give a huge thank you to their team for providing their services free of charge. They are directly helping us keep our projects affordable for our future partner families! 🌳🏡 Once construction begins, we will be looking for volunteers, so be on the lookout for sign ups! 🤝🔑 #habitatforhumanity #vermont #affordablehousing #housing #communitydevelopment

Last week we had a group of students from the Community Development and Applied Economics department at University of Vermont, University of Vermont College of Agriculture and Life Sciences visited our Winooski triplex! This spring, these students were enrolled in a course called 'Contemporary Policy Issues,' which has focused on housing. Students were able to see what affordable housing looks like in our community. We were so inspired to see so many students interested in this work. Special thanks to Kelly Hamshaw, Jason Konefal, and Margaret Tabb for organizing our site visits! #communitydevelopment #housing #affordablehousing #nonprofit #vermont

Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity reposted this
When Habitat for Humanity helps families benefit from affordable homeownership, our work also has a strengthening effect on the local economy in the communities we serve. In the most recent full year of analysis of our efforts in the United States, Habitat supported 28,751 jobs and paid more than $1.61 billion in labor income. For every dollar Habitat for Humanity invested, the local economy saw a return of $1.74. If you’ve ever been to the Williston ReStore, you’ve definitely seen Lynn on the floor restocking the jewelry case or display. 💍 For the past seven years, she has been volunteering at the Williston ReStore several days a week. Lynn started out pricing out donations and putting inventory on the sales floor, and now she manages the jewelry section. 🔑 Read more about Lynn’s volunteer story on our website: https://lnkd.in/e-VRe2tD #volunteer #habitatrestore #habitatforhumanity #vermont

Meet our HR Generalist, Henry (he/him)! ✨ Henry began working at our Milton ReStore in 2021, and he transitioned into his current role as HR Generalist in 2023. He works with all the employees across GMHFH, and his favorite part of his job is getting to see all the different parts of the organization and work with everyone. 🔨 A fun fact about Henry is that he enjoys driving stick shift! 🤩 Want to join our team? We are hiring! Visit our website to learn about our open positions: https://lnkd.in/eQwPXKUw #habitatforhumanity #humanresources #hr #nonprofit
