The resilience of U.S. defense capabilities hinges on the integrity of its industrial base. Ark surfaces an alarming reality – more than 45,000 Chinese-based suppliers are embedded within the supply chains of key U.S. weapon systems, including strategic platforms such as the B-2 bomber, the Ohio-class submarine, and the Patriot missile. As The New Yorker explains in a recent piece, adversaries could sever access to critical components during conflict, halting production and undermining readiness at the worst possible moment. https://lnkd.in/gU5v7rXN

A handful of vendors control the majority of U.S. defense spending. In FY24, just 10 companies received: 🚩 77% of Navy awarded dollars 🚩 73% of Air Force awarded dollars 🚩 60% of Army awarded dollars Govini’s 2025 National Security Scorecard highlights how this tight grip in capital-heavy sectors like Aviation and Maritime creates fragile supply chains and critical failure points that hinder innovation.
