About us

With a 115-plus-year legacy behind us, we’re looking to the future — a future in which conformity falls and originality rises. A brand of and for creators, we provoke and enable those independent enough not to follow to challenge convention through their ideas, actions, and ingenuity. We design so you can express your true self. We innovate so you can leap before you look. We create space for you and other mavericks and dreamers to break the rules, together. Because rules limit possibilities. Based in Boston. Part of NIKE, Inc., but distinctly ourselves.

June 24th wasn’t just any day at Converse ... It was Chuck Day, titled for our iconic shoe and the man from whom it takes its name: Charles “Chuck” Taylor, who was born on June 24, 1901.    Beyond commemorating our brand’s origins and legacy, this global celebration brought together teammates worldwide for a day of fun and games — and surprises, such as Payton Pritchard's appearance at Boston HQ and artistic contributions from Converse Social & Community Impact partners Hyde Square Task Force and Artists for Humanity.   From Chuck customization stations, art workshops, and group murals to dancing, games, and DJs, the worldwide gatherings were as creative as the creators they honored.    #Converse #GoDoThat #ChuckDay

Ever wonder where the Chuck Taylor All Star came from? It’s a wild ride. The Chuck’s 110-year-plus journey from afterthought to global icon defies convention, which explains why the silhouette has served as a talisman of self-expression for multiple generations, subcultures, and genres: It has never tried to fit in.     From its game-changing effect on the sport of basketball and its skateboarding clout to its prominence in music, fashion, and entertainment to its status as a canvas for creative collaboration and self-expression, the Chuck’s heritage is star-studded and action-packed ... Our latest Converse Creator, Christopher Hwang, is a composer — by profession and passion. As a Data Scientist and Business Intelligence Analyst with the Converse Global Direct Analytics team, he turns analytics into clear insights; as a musician and producer, he turns notes and melodies into catchy harmonies that express profound life experiences. It’s a natural fit, Chris reveals, because music is an intrinsic part of his being: His mother, a harpsichordist and composer, wrote and played for him before he was born — though violin, jazz clarinet, and guitar were his own first instruments. His sophomore year of high school, Chris began producing on GarageBand, then rapping to create vocals for his works. The following 15 years of exploration and growth have led him to where he is today, as both a solo musician (his solo “Dandelion” is now out on Spotify) and producer and member of the band in/of, which laid its newly released single “igloo” at Converse Rubber Tracks earlier this month (https://bit.ly/440YIek). #Creativity #Converse #GoDoThat #ConverseCreators Photographs 1 & 4 by Elizabeth Sanders

The debate is over: Number two is officially number one. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the 2024-25 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player and we’re celebrating. Keep your eyes on Oklahoma City, where the Shai Spotlight Signal will shine. Plus, murals in OKC and at Shai’s high school, Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario, honor the cities that helped shape his journey to the top. Well played, Shai — we’re excited to write the next chapter in Converse Basketball together. Stay tuned … #ConverseBasketball #GoDoThat #Shai

NIKE, Inc. President & CEO Elliott Hill stopped by Converse HQ earlier this month. Since stepping into the role seven months ago, he’s been on a world tour that has taken him to many places, including Lovejoy Wharf. From surprising teammates deskside to checking out the newest offerings in the Lovejoy store to taking a trip through history in our new museum, Elliott immersed himself in all things Converse, gaining insight into how the brand empowers creators (not just creatives) and sharing his future-forward inspiration in a fireside chat with Converse President & CEO Jared Carver. And of course, he couldn’t come to Boston without seeing some of the best our sports scene has to offer, including stopping by the iconic Fenway Park for a game and the Garden for the NBA Playoffs. We look forward to next time! #Converse #GoDoThat #Nike #JustDoIt

Converse is celebrating 10 years of Proud to Be. Designed to meaningfully honor and support the LGBTQIA+ community by showcasing creators who are unapologetically themselves, the initial initiative comprised a first-of-its-kind consumer-facing campaign aligned with the annual Converse Pride collection.     In honor of this milestone anniversary, we took a trip through the Proud to Be archive to see how the initiative has evolved, laying the foundation for this year’s commemorative yet future-forward campaign and collection, With Pride. Love, Chuck, which confirms what we already know: The Chuck Taylor is more than just a shoe. It’s a friend, partner, and confidant — an emblem of unity, belonging, and connection for all.    #Converse #GoDoThat #Pride

The award confirms what the stats already say … Payton Pritchard is this year’s Kia NBA Sixth Man of the Year.   That’s 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists over 28.4 minutes per game this season, to be exact. And it’s not over. If Payton’s Game 1 performance (19 points in 25 minutes) is any indication, he’s poised to help the Boston Celtics compete for their second consecutive championship.    Congrats to the newest member of the Converse Basketball family — we can’t wait to see what he does next.

We've always believed we're at our best when we're independent together.  For our third-annual Community Conversations & Youth Celebration in Boston, we brought together and celebrated a dynamic mix of creators: 35 partner organizations from all over the U.S., supported by Converse and NIKE, Inc. The purpose of the gathering? To inspire collaboration and spark connection.   Over the course of two action-packed days, our nonprofit partners and Converse teammates participated in meaningful partner-led workshops. The Youth Celebration welcomed teens and young adults from 16 local partner organizations, inviting them to express themselves by customizing Chuck Taylors, laying down sample beats in the Converse Rubber Tracks Studio, adding their signature creativity to an original mural inside Converse HQ, and much more.   We networked, we learned, we came away with some big ideas. And we can't wait to watch our Partners continue to bring their purpose to life.    #Converse #GoDoThat #ConverseCreators #CommunityConversations
