July marked a remarkable moment in philanthropy, with a wave of new research publications, spearheaded by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), offering fresh insight into generosity around the world. CAF released its World Giving Report, and for the first time, it was accompanied by 28 country-specific reports, providing the latest insights on attitudes and behaviors around charitable giving. This data comes at a crucial time, as we face global challenges and changes in the nonprofit space. We are in a moment that calls for philanthropy to follow through on its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and providing support where it's needed most. Our team is seeing firsthand how U.S. donors are stepping up, particularly to support disaster relief and humanitarian aid efforts. But we can go further. While over 3 in 4 Americans participated in charitable activities in 2024 and 95% of U.S. donors gave to domestic organizations, just 8% supported charities operating abroad. Americans care about global issues and American generosity is strong, but there’s still a need for stronger, community-based relationships with international organizations. We have the potential to unlock a bigger global impact. With trusted pathways to support causes, more Americans will answer the call to give boldly and drive meaningful change beyond our borders. I encourage funders, advisors, and leaders to read the Giving in the U.S. Report and consider what the future of giving can look like as we move forward together. https://lnkd.in/gWmETeN5

We’re proud to debut the Giving in the U.S. Report, a new look at the state of American generosity. From donor trust to giving motivations, this report offers a timely snapshot of how U.S. donors are navigating the changing social and economic landscape. Here are some of the highlights: 💰Americans give hundreds of billions of dollars to charitable causes each year, but these contributions are slightly less than 1% of total income. ⚙️Trust is a key driver in philanthropy, with 64% of Americans saying they would give more if they better understood how a charity operates. 🗺️Americans care about global issues, but feel more confident giving to local charities. Only 8% of Americans gave to international charities in 2024. 🌎Americans are more likely to trust charities in Western, industrialized regions like Canada, Oceania, and Western Europe. Get an inside look on the deepening needs and shifting expectations in the world of charitable giving. Download the report now: https://lnkd.in/ebCZUXec

The world’s most generous countries are often those where populations face the greatest need. That’s the striking paradox revealed in the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) World Giving Report 2025, based on insights from over 55,000 people across 101 countries and territories. Nigeria leads our rankings, with citizens donating 2.83% of their income, while wealthy nations like Japan (0.16%) and other G7 countries cluster near the bottom. The research also shows 40% of donations flow directly person-to-person, bypassing formal charities entirely. These findings challenge how we think about international philanthropy. They call on us to better recognise, respect ,and support the sophisticated giving cultures that already exist around the world. Read my article to explore what this means for the future of global giving. #worldgiving #worldgivingreport #Philanthropy #GlobalGiving

CAF’s 2025 World Giving Report sheds new light on philanthropy and raises important questions about how we value generosity. 🌎Nearly two-thirds of the global population donated money in 2024. 💰People gave an average of 1.04% of their income. ⌛The average time volunteered per person was 9 hours for the entire year. As global challenges become more complex, the role of individual giving is more important than ever. What do you think would inspire more people to give or give more generously? Let us know in the comments. ⬇️ Charities Aid Foundation (CAF)

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, large-scale wildfires are expected across the western U.S. and Great Plains this summer, driven by hotter, drier-than-average conditions. Fire activity is already rising across North America. In Canada, Saskatchewan has reported nearly double its average annual wildfires, and Manitoba is battling a blaze that has grown beyond 40,000 hectares. In the U.S., states like California and Minnesota are also seeing early, intense fire conditions. Minnesota has already tripled its annual wildfire average for 2025. As communities face increasing risk of wildfire, CAF America is working closely with grantee partners to support local preparedness and rapid response where it’s needed most.
