About us
Operating as a ministry of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God, the center delivered its first health care services in 1984, when a group of volunteer doctors began to provide basic services to clients eating dinner at the Camillus House soup kitchen. Since then, Camillus Health Concern has grown into a sophisticated, professional health care delivery organization operating a state-of-the-art health center with community and street outreach sites. Camillus Health Concern is a private, non-profit organization that provides comprehensive primary healthcare, behavioral and dental health along with social services to men, women and children who are poor and homeless in Miami-Dade County. Located in downtown Miami at 336 NW 5th Street - and operating a satellite clinics at Camillus House and Salvation Army - our committed team of healthcare professionals is dedicated to maintaining the health and well-being of Miami's less fortunate residents. We offer comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health care, as well as health education and specialty care.

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, CAMILLUS HEALTH CONCERN, INC. will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2025. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 21st with regular operating hours.

We’re excited to share an update from our President & CEO, Francis Afram-Gyening, MBA, MPH, CPM, FACHE. Camillus Health Concern, Inc. (CHC) has been selected as a grant awardee for Expanded Hours funding from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA)! Out of 125 health centers across the nation, CHC is honored to be one of only four awardees in Florida. This funding will allow us to extend early morning and late evening hours at two of our multi service sites, enhancing access to care for the Miami-Dade community. By expanding our hours, we aim to better serve individuals who are uninsured, underinsured, or covered by Medicaid—especially those who face challenges accessing affordable healthcare outside of traditional business hours. At CHC, we are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, can receive quality care. This grant will help reduce reliance on costly visits to urgent care, retail clinics, or emergency departments by offering more accessible and affordable options for our patients.
