This year at Automattic has been intense. We kicked it off with two weeks of in-person AI enablement training, and there’s a great post about it now. I’ve been so impressed and inspired by my colleagues leaning in to learn and grow together in the most consequential time in software development in the past 40 years.
Automattic recently brought 54 employees together at our NoHo Space for our first-ever AI Enablement training. And trust us, it won’t be the last! Featuring engineers and product designers across our entire suite of products, it was two jam-packed weeks of hands-on building, experimenting, and ushering in the future of how Automattic works: AI-first. For the members of the Bedfordshire Bird Club, the most important tool is often the one in their pocket. 📱 The club is a hub for a passionate community of birders, but their old website wasn't keeping up. It didn't work on mobile, which was a huge problem for people trying to access information while out in nature. So, we partnered with them to build a beautiful new home with WordPress.com (now hosted on Pressable). Our Special Projects Team handled the technical side, creating a site that puts everything the birders need right at their fingertips, from an interactive map of birding spots to parking info and recent sightings. It's a wonderful example of how the right technology can empower passion and bring a community closer to the world around them.
