Today’s People Spotlight features Sarah Falconer, United Kingdom & Ireland energy lead from our Environment and Sustainability team. Sarah has over 25 years of experience in the environmental sector, specializing in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and consenting for large complex infrastructure projects. Most recently, she’s collaborated on the delivery of three large onshore wind farms, where her team has placed social value at the center of the work. “As part of our submission we were proud to establish ten social value commitments which we will implement as the projects progress,” writes Sarah. “These include the use of local supply chain, engagement with schools, colleges and universities, provision of support to local community energy groups and prioritizing local delivery.” Read more from Sarah on bringing the energy transition to life: https://acm.to/jYyD #AECOM #Energy

We design projects that enhance lives and strengthen the communities we serve. The newly completed Schuylkill Banks: Christian to Crescent Cable Stayed Bridge opens up new possibilities for people in South and Southwest Philadelphia. For the first time, residents can travel directly to the jobs, schools, restaurants, and cultural destinations in Center City, without needing a car. By making walking and biking easier and safer, the bridge helps reduce traffic and emissions, supports local businesses, and encourages healthier, more connected communities.   As the first cable-stayed bridge of its kind in Pennsylvania and one of the only cable-stayed pedestrian bridges in the country, it fills a long-standing gap in the 130-mile Schuylkill River Trail.   See the story and the people behind it in our video. Today’s People Spotlight features Jeff Chan P.Eng., M.Eng., a structural engineer from our Buildings + Places business line in Canada.   Since joining us in 2020, Jeff has contributed to building projects across Canada, gaining expertise in seismic design and integration of diverse structural materials in buildings. One of Jeff’s most rewarding projects is the Warehouse Park Pavilion in downtown Edmonton, where his team’s deft engineering is turning parking lots into a striking, new community space.   “The pavilion’s irregular geometry presented a complex structural challenge, requiring close collaboration with a senior AECOM engineer and an award-winning architect to develop a solution that balanced durability, cost and design intent,” he writes. “What makes this project especially meaningful is knowing how the community will engage with the space once it’s fully redeveloped.”   Read more about Jeff’s approach to engineering: https://acm.to/laJD   #AECOM #Engineering #Canada #Edmonton

We’re excited to announce that our joint venture has been awarded the consultancy agreement for the Hong Kong Section of the Hong Kong–Shenzhen Western Rail Link (Hung Shui Kiu-Qianhai). This cross-boundary railway project, a key initiative under the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy, will significantly enhance connectivity across the Greater Bay Area, particularly between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. Our joint venture with AtkinsRéalis will provide an array of services, including investigation, design and construction for the approximately 7.3-kilometer section of the HSWRL connecting Hung Shui Kiu to the boundary with Shenzhen. Once complete, the full railway will span around 18.1 kilometers, including 10.8 kilometers in Shenzhen, comprehensively integrating metro networks across the western regions of both cities. “Our teams have delivered some of Hong Kong’s most transformative railway projects, and we look forward to applying our expertise as the world’s top rail and mass transit firm to realize this complex infrastructure initiative,” said Mark Southwell, chief executive of our global Transportation business.
