Lieberman Breaks Ground on the Haredi Education Revolution
Lieberman isn’t forcing Haredi men to stop studying Torah or Haredi women to stop having children. What he has done is change the regulations, making it more difficult – and that’s what governments do
The decision of Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman to cancel the subsidy for daycare for the children of yeshiva students has angered the ultra-Orthodox leadership, and not just them. The Haredi politicians were quick to portray Lieberman as an antisemitic tyrant, competing among themselves with historic comparisons. But there were some criticisms of substance as well.
