Launching the MPLAB® X IDE

After installing the MPLAB X IDE software, double-click on the MPLAB X IDE icon mplabxicon.png found on the desktop.

Alternatively, you can find the MPLAB X IDE application by typing MPLAB X in the search box on the Windows® taskbar or in the Applications folder on Mac.

When MPLAB X launches, a Starting modules… window appears.

Start Page

After MPLAB X IDE launches, at the top right of the Start Page, there are three tabs of useful information:

Clicking on the 'LEARN & DISCOVER' tab shows additional MPLAB X IDE training information.

Icon links on the left of the screen also link to various additional software tools:

  1. MPLAB XC Compiler
  2. MPLAB Code Configurator (MCC)
  3. MPLAB Harmony
  4. Microchip Libraries for Applications

The 'MY MPLAB® X IDE' tab is automatically highlighted in red and is the first screen shown.

Clicking on the 'WHAT'S NEW' tab allows you to watch the latest Microchip products videos, view announcements on products, corporate news, and access self-paced online training.

PROJECTS

You can open sample projects, create new projects, import legacy projects, or import prebuilt projects here.

Recent Projects

If you opened projects previously, these are listed under 'Recent Projects'.

Microchip Login

You can log into myMicrochip or register as a new user.
