Challenger was scary.

But Jackie Erickson of #GLXP team Astrobotic has chosen space anyways:
More than 30 years after the Challenger disaster hampered NASA's progress, private industry has picked up where the space agency left off in terms of developing new technology for space

Why don't we explore space more? Why haven't we gone back to the Moon...or gone to Mars sooner?

Futurist Peter Diamandis answers! And he's got a big ray of hope for our future, and for imminent change:

The government does have a private sector strictly dedicated to investagating extraterrestrials. 'They' have given us so much technilogy, the government spoon feds it to us for profit. The government, they are suppose to come clean to the public on E.T's. The government is afraid it will cause mass hysteria, and Religion would be questioned. Thus no guilt of punishment for breaking the 10 commandments, Martial law.

It began with 29 teams. Now, just 16 remain. Who will make it to the moon? Who will win the $30M #GLXP?

Streaming free, a week from today on YouTube! #GLXPMoonShot

#IFLScience has the scoop:
A race to the Moon sounds like something that shouldn’t be happening until next century. But it’s actually happening right now – and a new video reveals the teams that could win it. This video is a promotional trailer for an upcoming series about the Google Lunar XPRIZE, which is seeing 16 privately funded teams attempt to land robots on the Moon and have them travel across the surface, with prize money of $30 million up for grabs.

Welcome to the new space race.
Introduction
The Google Lunar X PRIZE is a $30 million competition for the first privately funded team to send a robot to the moon, travel 500 meters, and then transmit video, images and data back to the Earth; incentivizing space entrepreneurs to create a new era of affordable access to the Moon, and beyond.
