OMG, saved items and comment system
Also, if I have notification on for FB's groups and messenger apps, I don't want those notifications to appear in paper. What an absolute mess.
First off, I still cannot grasp why all of your apps break up the commenting system the way that they do. In paper, you cannot reply to specific comments, but you can in the main FB app. You can tag pages on the desktop version of your site, but you cannot tag pages on iOS. This app is useless if you spend a lot of time trying to hold conversations on FB, which should be what it's all about. Bringing people together and encouraging the exchange of ideas. This is a social network, right?
How ridiculous is it that you cannot access the articles that you've saved on FB within this app? Is this not a reader app? I just do not get it.
good but can be better
Would have been better if there was a way to stop receiving notifications from a certain post that you have commented on.. as well as an option to add new photos to existing albums just like on the facebook app.. and an option to delete messages or entire thread messages as a whole just like on the messenger app where you can swipe a certain thread to the left and there would come out an option to delete the whole thread that you have selected
iPad potential?
Paper is a good, strong app and, as others have said, an improvement over the Facebook/Messenger divide. There are some issues with notifications or messages not opening when their icons are tapped, but that’s relatively minor.
However, I think this app could and should transition over to the iPad now. The layout and interface seem made for the larger screen in native resolution, rather than the 2x blow up it currently has.
As others have mentioned, the notification badges seem always stuck at 13 and not indicative of the actual notifications in the system.
This is a smoother, better, more useful app than the Facebook standalone app (even if only because it lets your browse your feed AND actually read and respond to messages), but it needs to be iPad-ized.
