The merge of two state-owned Russian airlines Rossiya and Pulkovo has completed, a representative of Rossiya told journalists at a briefing on 17 November.
Rossiya state transport company was registered in Saint-Petersburg on 9 October 2006. Ismat Kuchiev, general representative of Rossiya, said at a briefing in Tashkent that aircrafts of the two leading Russian airlines started flying under single flag with the beginning of winter flight schedule.
The merge of Rossiya and Pulkovo airlines is a natural event in the modern Russian aviation with its trends towards consolidation and improvement of airlines' structure, Mr Kuchiev noted. Creation of a modern competitive state-owned airline allows optimizing air transportations and providing passengers with new opportunities. "Moreover, this year is remarkable as the general representative office of Rossiya marked its 10th anniversary in Uzbekistan and start of flights on Saint-Petersburg Tashkent Saint-Petersburg route in new economic conditions," he said.
Rossiya has its branch in Moscow. Plans on active raising volumes of transportations and expansion of route network are connected with the next summer season. These autumn and winter will be a transition period. The main goal of re-branding is realization at all levels of new firm style, promotion of the company's new image and familiarization of consumers with positive aspects of the merge.
The basic airports of Rossiya are air gates of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg Vnukovo and Pulkovo. At the same time, the new company Rossiya is expanding the geography of flights from the Moscow airport to Vnukovo in the winter period. The flights schedule also includes cities of Uzbekistan. Two flights from Saint-Petersburg to Tashkent and one flight to Samarkand and Namangan are carried out a week.
