Here's another take: Not many people are traveling to Israel because they're concerned over the continuing violence. Charles Harris, who earned the nickname "One Shot" because that is often all he needed for a photo, is finally getting the recognition he so richly deserves in an exhibit at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. Imagine waking up in your own Parisian penthouse and looking out the window to see the golden dome of Hotel des Invalides gleaming in the morning sun. For tourists, renting a flat can be the key to transforming from visitor to local. Located on the east side of Las Cruces, the 7,000-yard Sonoma Ranch course is one of New Mexico's newest public courses. It opened last May, billed as a lookalike for some of the pricey and plush courses found in neighboring Arizona. Hungry patrons jostle one another on the sidewalk, sniffing appreciatively at the billows of steam pouring from the first-floor kitchen. They are ardent devotees of Ding Tai Fung -- likely Taiwan's most famous restaurant. There are many pleasures awaiting travelers who venture beyond Paris' traditional tourist haunts, from vibrant neighborhoods to small cafes hidden in nooks and crannies.
