Since 2019, we’ve reduced our operational emissions by 23% and cut energy consumption by 16%. While lower production levels have contributed, these figures also reflect the progress we’re making through climate roadmaps across our sites. Read more in our 2024 Sustainability Report: bit.ly/45ufYKB

INEOS has completed a major £30 million investment at its Hull manufacturing site, converting the facility to run on clean-burning hydrogen instead of natural gas. The result? A world first and a 75% cut in carbon emissions. That’s the equivalent of taking 160,000 petrol cars off the road. David Brooks, CEO INEOS Acetyls, says it best: “That’s not a plan. That is the result.” Read on: bit.ly/44SebO3

The EU’s Chemical Industry Action Plan has missed the point entirely. It’s too little, too late. While the US and China back their industries with real action, Europe drags its feet, and it's costing us jobs, investment, and competitiveness. At our Cologne site alone, we’re hit with €240 million in extra costs every year just to operate, thanks to sky-high gas prices, expensive electricity, and soaring carbon charges. This isn’t a level playing field. More than 20 plants have already shut down in Europe. Without urgent action on energy and carbon costs, the chemical industry here won’t survive. We need action, now. Find out more: https://bit.ly/3GQ3XWt

Last week, we shared our voice at the EFRA Select Committee’s evidence session and we’re proud to represent the industry. Plastics and polymers aren’t just convenient, they’re often the most sustainable and efficient option for modern life. Don’t just take our word for it, three independent studies back it up: 📄 McKinsey & Company Jul 2022 bit.ly/4lAanIC 📄 Denkstatt June 2010 bit.ly/4lRh0FV 📄 Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London bit.ly/4lNroOU
