Black Britain: 50 years of images

His photographs have captured life for the Windrush Generation and beyond, from Notting Hill Carnival to the Brixton Riots – creating an extraordinary visual record of Black Britain.

Armet Francis arrived from Jamaica as a child, and has spent more than half a century behind the camera. Now, in his 80s, he’s donating his archive of more than 70,000 images to Autograph, the charity which he helped to create.
