She was a freshman at Loyola University Chicago. She was beautiful, funny, faithful, and full of plans to build something with her life. On March 19th she went to the lakefront with friends hoping to see the northern lights.
She never saw them.
Her mother Jessica stood before a congressional committee and told them who Sheridan was before she asked them to answer for what happened to her.
In kindergarten, Sheridan appointed herself the guardian of the buddy bench. Every day at recess instead of running to the swings she hung back by a nearby tree and watched. Waiting. Just in case someone might need her. Kids barely had a chance to sit down before Sheridan was rushing over to take their hand and pull them away to play. Girls, boys, first graders, kindergartners. It did not matter. If the child looked lonely, Sheridan went over. If someone had no one to play with, Sheridan was there. If someone felt invisible, Sheridan saw them.
That was her daughter. That is who she was until the day she was stolen.
Jose Medina, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, had a prior crime and an outstanding warrant when he murdered Sheridan Gorman. He should not have been in the country. He had committed a crime. Chicago is a sanctuary city. Illinois is a sanctuary state. Nobody called ICE. He was left on the streets.
Jessica Gorman told Congress she wakes up in the middle of the night thinking about whether her daughter cried for her. Sheridan made it 40 feet running for her life. She died on the pavement. Alone. Bleeding. Lonely.
The child who spent her whole life making sure no one was lonely died alone.
Jessica asked one question of every Democrat who sat in that hearing room and changed the subject or offered condolences followed by a but.
When your child is in the coffin there is no but.
She said she is a lover not a fighter. She loves immigrants. Two of her best friends came here legally and she believes they make America beautiful. But her daughter was beautiful too. And now she is going to spend whatever time she has left fighting these policies and demanding people say Sheridan’s name.
Jim Jordan will hold every hearing it takes to pass the Sanctuary Jurisdiction Shutdown Act of 2026.
Say her name. Sheridan Grace Gorman.
This newsletter covers every moment of the fight to make sure this never happens to another family.
44% off forever because the 44th president’s policies created the open border that put Jose Medina on the streets of Chicago and Jim Jordan has never stopped fighting to make it right.
