Turn on task notifications

Important: You can receive task notifications in the Google, Google Tasks, and Google Calendar apps. If multiple apps are installed, only one app notifies you. For example, if you have the Calendar app and the Google app installed, only the Calendar or Google app notifies you.

To enable notifications from the Tasks app:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Tasks app Tasks.
  2. At the top right, tap your Profile picture and then Settings and then Notifications.
  3. Turn on All Tasks notifications.

Tip: If you don't have the Tasks app, you can change task notifications for Calendar and the Google app:

Fix delayed or missing task notifications

If you don’t use apps regularly, some Android phones turn off or delay notifications. To keep notifications for tasks on, give the Tasks app permissions:

  1. On your Android phone, open the settings app.
  2. Tap Apps and then Special app access and then Alarms & Reminders.
  3. In the app list, tap Tasks.
  4. Turn on Allow setting alarms and reminders.
