Sign out of or remove your account from Gmail

If you use:

  • Gmail on your computer: You can sign out from Gmail on your computer.
  • The Gmail app on a phone or tablet: You can only remove your account from your device.

Sign out from Gmail

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Profile .
  3. Click Sign out.

Tip: If you have multiple accounts in Gmail, click Sign out of all accounts.

Remove an unused, lost, or stolen device

If you forget to remove Gmail access on a device, you can sign out remotely. This helps secure your account if you lose the device or someone steals it.

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Profile .
  3. Click Edit Google Account.
  4. On the left, click Security.
  5. In the "Your devices" panel, click Manage all devices.
  6. Select a device or session you want to sign out.
  7. Click Sign out.

Tips:

  • A session is a period of time during which you sign in to a Google Account on your device from a browser, app, or service.
  • Your device may display a single session or multiple sessions. This is working as intended.
  • To ensure there’s no account access from a device, you must sign out of all sessions on that device individually. Learn how to see devices with account access.
