Google and ADT have partnered to provide Google Nest devices and services as a part of ADT systems. This article includes steps for how to connect your ADT account to the Google Home app.
Customers can purchase these Google Nest products from ADT and have an ADT installer set them up in their home:

- Nest Hub (2nd Gen) and Nest Hub Max
- Nest Mini
- Nest Wifi and Wifi Point
- Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat
- Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus
Learn about Nest Aware managed by ADT
To get a Nest Aware subscription for your home through ADT, you need to purchase both a Nest device and a Nest Aware (or Nest Aware Plus) subscription through ADT. Once you add Nest Aware to your ADT subscription, your ADT service bill will include the Nest Aware service and ADT will manage it.
You only need one Nest Aware subscription for all Nest cameras in your home.
Set up Nest Aware managed by ADT for your home
Step 1: Link your Google Account in the ADT app
- Open the ADT Control app or ADT Pulse app.
- In the top left corner, tap the menu

- In the Control app, tap + Add Device, or in the Pulse app, tap Settings.
- Select Google Nest
Next.
- Sign in with the Google Account that you want associated with your ADT account. This account will also be associated with the home you want to use in the Google Home app.
- If you don’t have an account, select Create account to proceed.
- Choose the home you want associated as your ADT home.
- If you're new to Google Nest, you’ll need to create a new home. Fill in the form with the address you purchased this subscription for.
- If you already have one or more homes in your Google Home app, select the home you purchased the subscription for.
- Tap Next.
Step 2: Give ADT access to manage Google Nest devices & services
Important: If there's an error message displayed on the screen, contact ADT Customer support.
After you’ve linked your Google account in the ADT app, allow ADT to access your Google Nest devices and services.
- On the ADT Control app or ADT Pulse app, select Next
Continue.
- Tap Open Google Home app.
- If you’re new to Google Nest products, you'll be prompted to download the Google Home app.
- If you already have the Google Home app installed, it will open the app.
Step 3: Link Nest Aware managed by ADT to your home
- Open the Google Home app

- If you have multiple homes, you need to use the home assigned as your ADT home. Tap the home name in Home
to switch homes if needed.

Migrate your current Nest Aware subscription to ADT
If you purchased a Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription through Google and want to change to Nest Aware managed by ADT, here’s what to expect:
- You’ll be asked to migrate a Nest Aware subscription to ADT as part of the setup flow.
- The original Nest Aware subscription will be terminated immediately and the ADT Nest Aware subscription replaces it.
- The camera features and video history data might change. This is subject to the new subscription:
- If you migrate within the same subscription tier, there are no changes to features or video history data.
- If you migrate to a higher subscription tier:
- Gain an additional 30-day video history, for a total of 60-day video history
- Gain access to Continuous Video Recording (CVR)
- If you migrate to a lower subscription tier:
- Lose the additional 30-day video history, for a total of 30-day video history
- Lose access to Continuous Video Recording (CVR)
Tip: Before you migrate to a lower subscription tier, save clips of footage you want to keep.
Manage Nest Aware managed through ADT
To cancel or change a Nest Aware subscription (such as change the associated Google Account), contact ADT Customer support.
Connect your ADT devices with Google Assistant
To control your ADT devices with your voice using a Google-Assistant enabled device:
- Open the Google Home app

- If you have multiple homes, you need to use the home assigned as your ADT home. Tap the home name in Home
to switch homes if needed.

- Search and select ADT Smart Home.
- Follow the steps to complete the setup.
Once you’ve connected your device, you can arm or disarm your ADT system and control your compatible smart home devices using your voice. Just say “Hey Google” to get started.
Try these voice commands:
- "Hey Google, arm my system to away"
- "Hey Google, turn on the living room light"
- "Hey Google, disarm my system"
- "Hey Google, set the thermostat to 70 degrees"
