If you've been looking for the right time to upgrade your desktop computer, Apple just dropped a new iMac for the first time since 2024. While Apple's "Pro and Tell" event technically doesn't kick off until tomorrow, the company has launched the new desktop, as well as a new MacBook Pro and iPad mini before the event even begins.

The new iMac skips the M5 chip altogether and opts for the outrageously fast M6 chip. "Everything feels extra snappy and responsive for families managing busy calendars, students putting the finishing touches on a project, and small business owners running their companies," Apple writes in a press release.

As for how speedy it actually is, here's the breakdown:

• Up to 2.5 times faster performance in apps like Microsoft Excel compared to M1 iMac, up to 1.5 times faster than M4 iMac

• Up to 3.3 times faster graphics performance compared to M1 iMac, up to 2 times faster than M4 iMac

• Up to 12 times faster AI performance compared to M1 iMac, up to 5 times faster than M4 iMac

• Up to 2 times higher gaming performance compared to M4 iMac

Aside from the addition of the M6 chip, the new iMac also has the Apple N1 wireless networking chip, alongside Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 on the base model. Otherwise, it's not all that different from the previous M4 iMac from 2024. It still features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, a 12MP Center Stage camera, up to four USB-C ports, and the ability to connect up to two 6K external displays.

The M6 iMacs start at $1,499 for the 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU configuration, while the 12-core CPU and GPU model starts at $1,699. In the age of RAMageddon, these prices come as no surprise. The M6 iMac comes in the same shades of green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and standard silver as the M4 iMac.

Where to buy the Apple M6 iMac

The new Apple M6 iMac is available for preorder from Apple starting at 1:10 p.m. ET on Oct. 28. Other retailers like Amazon and Best Buy will likely join the fray shortly after. The desktop computer will be fully available in Apple Store locations and Apple Authorized Resellers on Friday, Nov. 6.

The 27-inch LG UltraGear OLED gaming monitor is currently down to $499.99 at Amazon. That drops the price by $400 — a massive 44% discount off its normal $899.99 list price — bringing this top-tier display back to its all-time low price.

Hitting a sub-$500 mark on a high-refresh OLED panel is rare, but the performance specs make it a steal for both PC and console setups. You are getting a sharp 1440p resolution, a silky 240Hz refresh rate, and a near-instant 0.03ms pixel response time. So fast-paced competitive shooters look fluid with practically zero motion blur, ghosting, or input lag ruining your tracking.

The real magic comes down to the self-lit OLED panel. Because each pixel turns off completely, dark scenes deliver true, pitch-black levels without that muddy gray glow common on standard IPS or VA screens. It handles wide color spaces effortlessly for single-player immersion, while a matte anti-glare finish keeps window light or desk lamps from turning your display into a mirror mid-game.

LG also loaded it with dual HDMI 2.1 ports and DisplayPort 1.4, letting you max out the 240Hz ceiling on PC or hook up a PS5 or Xbox Series X without losing smooth frame rates. You also get G-Sync and FreeSync support to eliminate screen tearing, a stand that swivels, tilts, and adjusts for height, and a two-year warranty covering burn-in and panel issues.

If you've been eyeing a high-refresh OLED upgrade, hit Amazon and grab this 27-inch display before the $400 discount disappears.

ICYMI, Mashable's shopping team spotted over 20 Apple devices and accessories that were on sale for record-low prices during Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon's "October Prime Day" sale on Oct. 6 and 7. Surprisingly, most of those deals are still live even though the sale is over — even a $150 discount on the brand-new Mac mini.

Right now, three variants of Apple's latest mini PC with the M6 and M5 Pro chips are still up for grabs at their lowest prices yet, starting from just $949.99. That translates to up to 14% in savings, which is a pretty decent discount for a fresh Apple product that's less than a month old. Plus, you don't have to be a Prime member in order to be eligible for the deals.

Remember: The new Mac minis launched at much higher prices than their predecessors due to the ongoing memory shortage, so buying them on sale is a great call. Take your pick from the following configurations:

• Apple Mac mini (M6, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) — $949.99 $1,099.99 (save $149.01)

• Apple Mac mini (M6, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD) — $1,149.99 $1,299.99 (save $149.01)

• Apple Mac mini (M5 Pro, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD) — $1,549 $1,699 (save $150)

The base Mac mini with an M6 chip, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage is currently on sale, too, but at $779.99 (normally $899), it's $10 away from its all-time low.

The Mac mini is Apple's most compact desktop computer. Credit: Apple

The Mac mini is a popular choice for AI enthusiasts, and Apple says its new chips offer up four times faster AI performance (plus up to twice as fast graphics and storage). They also have the latest wireless connectivity options, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, and can drive up to three displays at once. The M6 model has two USB-C ports, an HDMI port, an Ethernet port, and three Thunderbolt 4 ports, which the M5 Pro one swaps for faster Thunderbolt 5 ports.

After testing the M6 Mac mini, our sister site, PCMag, named it an Editor's Choice winner and deemed it "a good-value powerhouse for most everything you’ll want to do on a Mac." The version with an M5 Pro chip is much more powerful in demanding multi-core workloads and better-suited for professional creatives and AI developers.

Now, the question is: Should you buy a Mac mini now or wait to see if they get even cheaper in a couple weeks on Black Friday? According to our previous coverage, the base model of the older M4 Mac mini was $120 off over the holidays last year, while an upgraded M4 Pro model was $200 off. You might score some additional savings down the road, though you also run the risk of certain configurations selling out.

Prime Big Deal Days is bringing early price cuts on high-end gaming gear, but OLED displays rarely drop this low. Amazon just slashed $400 off the 27-inch LG UltraGear OLED, bringing this 1440p, 240Hz display down to $499.99 — a 44% savings and one of its best prices to date.

The LG UltraGear packs a sharp 1440p OLED screen with a matte finish that cuts down room glare. You get a super-fast 240Hz refresh rate and a near-instant 0.03ms response time, meaning fast-moving games look buttery smooth with zero motion blur or ghosting.

Because it's an OLED, pixels turn completely off for true pitch-black contrast and rich colors that make games pop. It supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync to eliminate screen tearing, and packs two HDMI 2.1 ports with a DisplayPort connection — so you can hook up your gaming PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X to hit high frame rates without swapping cables.

The included stand lets you adjust height, tilt, and swivel, or even flip the monitor sideways into a vertical setup. It packs built-in quick-preset game modes — like dedicated FPS and RTS profiles — that automatically tweak contrast, brightness, and colors so you can spot enemies hiding in dark corners.

That was fast: A day after rumors broke about Apple preparing new Mac devices for release, the company announced some updated desktop computers. Today, Apple unveiled a portable Mac mini with the new M6 chip and a hulking Mac Studio with new M5 Ultra silicon — its "most powerful chip ever," according to a press release.

These new processors offer "the next giant leap in performance and AI compute," said Sri Santhanam, Apple’s vice president of Silicon Engineering Group. They also bring some higher prices. (Blame RAMageddon.) The M6 Mac mini starts at $899, or $300 more than its M4 predecessor. The M5 Ultra Mac Studio starts at $5,499. That's $200 more than the M3 Ultra model, and more expensive configurations cost up to $18,299.

Both new Macs are available in a second configuration with other existing chips from the M5 series. Their external designs remain unchanged.

Preorders for the refreshed Mac mini and Mac Studio are now live in the Apple Store, though they won't start shipping until Sept. 22.

These announcements come ahead of Apple's annual September hardware event, where the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 series, a new foldable iPhone, updated smart home devices, and new Apple Watches.

M6 debuts on the Mac mini

Credit: Apple

The new Mac mini, Apple's inaugural M6 device, features the company's first-ever processor built using a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, which crams more switches onto a smaller piece of silicon. (Apple's M3, M4, and M5 chips used 3nm technology.) This translates to "a major leap in performance and power efficiency," Apple said.

The M6 chip has two more CPU and GPU cores than the M5 chip for a total of 12 apiece, plus a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Per Apple, it gives the new Mac mini up to four times faster AI performance up to two times faster graphics than the M4 model. The company recommends it for "everyday users, students, developers, AI hobbyists, and enterprises." It starts at $899 with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The Mac mini is also now configurable with the M5 Pro chip. That model has up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU with up to 64GB of RAM and 8TB of storage. It starts at $1,699 with 24GB of memory and 512GB of storage. Apple plugs it for "pro users" with "demanding workflows like app development, video rendering, scientific simulations, and more."

Both new Mac mini models support 2.5Gb Ethernet, with a 10Gb upgrade available, as well as WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, the latest wireless technologies.

This year, Mac mini desktops have become a popular choice for people running AI agents, and some M4 models were hard to find in stock.

M5 Ultra beefs up the Mac Studio

Credit: Apple

The M5 Ultra marks another Apple innovation: It's the company's first chip with quad-die architecture, made by fusing two dual-die M5 Max chips together. It has up to a 36-core CPU and 80-core GPU with up to a whopping 512GB of unified memory and 1.2TB/s of unified memory bandwidth. (The M3 Ultra was capped at 32 CPU cores and 96GB of RAM, and it only had 819GB/s of memory bandwidth.)

Compared to its predecessor, the M5 Ultra Mac Studio delivers up to 4.5 times faster AI compute speeds and up to 40 percent faster graphics. Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer, called it "the ultimate desktop for on-device AI and the world’s most demanding pro workflows."

The new Mac Studio starts at $5,499 with a 30-core CPU, 64-core GPU, and 36GB of memory plus 512GB of storage. It's also configurable with the M5 Max chip for $2,499 to start. Both support WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The LG 45-inch UltraGear gaming monitor is built to feel big and immersive, with a wide curved screen that wraps around your view so you feel more immersed in games and movies. It runs at a very fast refresh rate and responds almost instantly, which helps fast-moving games feel smoother and more controlled.

If you’ve been dreaming of putting together a gaming setup with a curved monitor or wishing to upgrade your current equipment, this weekend might be the time to do it. Amazon has the LG Ultragear 39-inch curved gaming monitor on sale for almost half off. This model is perfect for those who want a single-screen OLED monitor with a wicked-fast frame rate and an 800R curve for true immersion. The monitor has a thick, sturdy, white base for folks who don’t mind the look of noticeable hardware.

Unlike other monitors meant only for running whatever you plug into them, this model has webOS 24 with access to your favorite streaming services built in. This means you could take a break from work or gaming and binge your favorite shows.

The screen is also expertly designed to reduce glare and reflections. This means you aren’t automatically required to find an extremely low-light location for your gaming monitor (although that can sometimes be a vibe). The sale price of this monitor makes this particular model size one of the lowest-priced OLED monitors you can buy on Amazon right now.

The 57” Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 curved gaming monitor is on sale right now. Although it can’t offer the futuristic (Apple Vision Pro-esque) feature of spreading all your windows out into thin air, it offers an amazing surface area for multitasking or gaming.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 essentially gives you the workspace of two high-quality monitors set side by side. Instead of an awkward gap in the center, you get 57 inches of uninterrupted 4K resolution with a 240 Hz refresh rate.

Samsung's proprietary Quantum Matrix Technology with quantum mini-LEDs offers enhanced brightness and color contrast on this massive screen. This, paired with the aforementioned refresh rate, allows your media to be viewed in rich, crisp detail. Satisfied review writers praise the curvature of the screen’s ability to make you feel totally immersed in whatever you end up doing.

This weekend, you could upgrade your significant other's Valentine’s Day (or year) by picking up this massive gaming monitor from Samsung. This 57” Samsung Odyssey gaming monitor has a slight curve for true immersion into your virtual world of choice. Samsung claims that it’s the world’s first dual UHD monitor, meaning it's the first monitor to be as big as two side-by-side 27" UHD monitors.

With this colossally wide field of view, you also get a 240Hz refresh rate (which reduces lag) and a 1ms response time, both of which contribute to a seamless, crisp visual experience. The monitor comes with DisplayPort, HDMI, and a USB hub for hooking up your devices with ease.

Reviewers of this monitor praise its picture and resolution quality. One reviewer who upgraded from two side-by-side monitors said it was super worth it. Other reviewers praised the convenience of a screen this wide for multitasking and gaming.

One five-star reviewer mentioned that the monitor is quite heavy and might not be compatible with an arm attachment. If you’ve been wanting to upgrade your workstation, this could be a monumental addition to the mix.

The MacBook lineup is always worth considering if you're seeking portable power, but if you're someone who prefers a more permanent setup, it's worth checking out the Mac mini. This desktop computer features a compact build that fits neatly next to a monitor. What's even better is it's currently on sale at Amazon, making now a great time to buy.

As of Feb. 11, the 2024 Mac mini has dropped to $549 at Amazon, an 8% discount from its retail price of $599. Overall, this saves you $50.

The Mac mini packs the M4 chip into its five-by-five inch build, which provides you with speedy performance no matter if you're using it for work or just casually browsing around the internet. This version also comes with a 10‑core CPU and GPU, 16GB of Unified Memory, and a 256GB SSD. On top of that, you'll find Thunderbolt, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back, and USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front.

If you're still torn between this and a MacBook, writer Matt Binder argued that price is another point to take into consideration. In his breakdown of why you should get the Mac mini over the M4 MacBook Pro, he says the "base model M4 Mac mini has the exact same specs, but comes with a slightly smaller 256GB SSD drive." As for the price difference, you're getting around "one thousand dollars in savings."

If you're an Apple user who's been on the hunt for a desktop computer, Amazon has knocked nearly $100 off the price of the Apple 2024 Mac mini. As of Jan. 13, it's on sale for $499.99.

The Mac mini is normally listed for $599, so this deal saves you $99.01 in total. Fitted with the M4 chip, it's a device that's well worth looking into, especially while it's on sale. Writer Matt Binder even makes the argument that you should get it over the M4 MacBook Pro, if you aren't needing a portable computer to take on the go.

Binder explains that this is because the "base model M4 Mac mini has the exact same specs, but comes with a slightly smaller 256GB SSD drive." Given the Mac mini's usual price of $599, this is "one thousand dollars in savings" over the MacBook Pro. Again, if you're not needing a laptop specifically, it's a great stationary pick with a compact design of just five by five inches.

Alongside the M4 chip, 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, and 256GB SSD, it also features Thunderbolt, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet ports on the back and, on the front, USB-C ports and a headphone jack.

Dell's latest Ultrasharp monitor is ludicrously capacious. The American tech giant debuted its new UltraSharp 52 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor at CES this week, plugging it as "the world's first 52-inch ultrawide curved 6K monitor." Mashable saw it in person in Dell's showroom, and it almost dwarfed the desk it sat on.

Credit: Haley Henschel / Mashable

The UltraSharp 52 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor is designed to be a sleeker alternative to a two- or three-monitor setup for the fiercest multitaskers among us, specifically those who put in long hours. It has an ambient light sensor that adjusts its brightness as the day progresses, and Dell says it emits 60 percent less blue light than competing monitors, making it easy on the eyes in more way than one. It has a 21:9 aspect ratio, an anti-glare finish, and IPS Black panel technology for deep contrast and accurate colors.

In its press release, Dell recommends the UltraSharp 52 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor for "financial traders, data scientists, engineers, and executives who manage multiple applications simultaneously," but its 120Hz refresh rate means it's also good for gaming once you're off work. (Imagine playing Stardew Valley on this thing.) It works with up to four PCs at once, so go nuts.

Credit: Haley Henschel / Mashable

The UltraSharp 52 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor isn't the biggest curved desktop monitor on the market. (Hello, Samsung's 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9.) It isn't the only 6K monitor out there, either. (The Apple Pro Display XDR and the Asus ProArt Display 6K PA32QCV are just two examples.) But no other model combines its titanic size with an impossibly crisp 6K resolution.

The UltraSharp 52 Thunderbolt Hub Monitor is available now on Dell's website. It costs $2,899.99 with its height-adjustable stand and $2,799.99 without.

Apple’s last release of the iMac Pro was all the way back in 2017, a full three years before Apple started using its own silicon in its computers.

The Intel Xeon-powered iMac was discontinued in 2021, and fans of the form factor have wondered if Apple would ever release another. Now, according to the rumor mill, that’s precisely what Apple is doing.

As first noted by MacRumors, the rumor stems from kernel debug kit files often used by Apple engineers. The files, which have been circulating on Chinese websites like Weibo and BiliBili, sometimes reference unreleased Apple products.

And the list on these particular debug files list suggest a new iMac Pro is in the works — one with an M5 Max chip.

The software references an iMac with the “J833c” identifier running on the “H17C” platform. The H17C is associated with the “Sotra C” codename, which is related to the Apple M5 Max chip.

Of course, there are caveats. Internal testing files does not guarantee a public release. Apple often tests various configurations that do not make it to market. But this one seems more solid than most. Longtime Apple watchers including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believe Apple has been working on a new iMac for quite some time — and that it would use Apple's own silicon.

The debug files also show MacBook Pros coming with M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, MacBook Airs with the M5 chip, Mac Mini models with the M5 and M5 Pro chip, and a new Mac Studio with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

There was also mention of a low-cost MacBook powered by an iPhone chip. Rumors of that particular budget machine already circulated over the summer.

Should the M5 iMac Pro be announced, it would be placed above the existing M4 iMac in the Apple product hierarchy. The M4 is quite good, but lacks pro-level configurations.

An iMac Pro with the M5 Max would shore up that pro level desktop experience that Apple currently lacks, and fans of the form factor would certainly enjoy having a refreshed model after all these years.

We saw some pretty excellent deals on Apple devices on Black Friday, but the majority of them up and disappeared right after Cyber Monday concluded. If you missed out on some of the best savings of the year, one has just resurfaced: the M4 Mac Mini for just $479.

As of Dec. 9, you can pick up the Apple Mac Mini with an M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage for only $479 at both Amazon and Best Buy. That's 20% or $120 off its list price of $599. While it matches its Black Friday 2025 price, it's actually not the lowest price on record — but it's pretty dang close at just $10 shy.

It's also built for Apple Intelligence, if you're into that. While it's pretty dang small, it still manages to pack two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front and three Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI and Ethernet port on the back.

You'll have to pair it with a monitor, but it doesn't need to be a fancy Apple one. You could easily go with something cheap and efficient if you want to save some money — or go with something spec-heavy if you please. Whichever option you choose, you'll already be saving big on the Apple desktop computer itself with this deal.

Now that Apple's new M5 chip has arrived, the previous M4 chip is no longer the shiniest processor on the market. That means you can get M4-powered devices for much less — including the already affordable Mac Mini.

As of Nov. 3, the Apple Mac Mini (M4 chip, 16GB RAM, 256FB SSD) is on sale for just $499.99 at Amazon. That's $99.01 off its MSRP of $599. We have seen the desktop computer drop to $469 once on a random day in June, but it's failed to reach that all-time low again. This is the next-best price.

This small but mighty Apple computer won't take up much real estate on your desk at just 5x5 inches, but that doesn't mean it's not powerful. It packs 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the base model, alongside the speedy M4 chip. It's also built for Apple Intelligence, if that's your cup of tea. Despite its new smaller build, it still packs two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front and three Thunderbolt 4 ports and an HDMI and Ethernet port on the back.

You'll have to pair it with a monitor, of course, but the good news is that it doesn't even have to be an Apple monitor. You could go with something cheap and efficient or more spec-heavy — the world is your oyster.

The Mac Mini is already the most affordable option for users who want a Mac computer, but this $99 discount makes it even lighter on your wallet.

SAVE $100: As of Oct. 16, shop the Apple Mac Mini (M4, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) for just $499. That saves you $100 off its usual $599 list price for 17% in savings.

We're seeing lots of discounts on the Apple products today, maybe no surprise considering it's following the brand's product drop on Oct. 15. Apple debuted new silicon, the M5 chip, which is coming to the Vision Pro, MacBook Pro, and iPad Pro. That means the previous M4 chip is no longer the latest processor, however, it doesn't mean it's obsolete.

The M4 chip is still the best silicon we've tested from Apple, given that we haven't gotten our hands on the M5. However, we've been finding discounts on the Apple's M4 products since the launch, including on the Mac Mini.

As of Oct. 16, the Apple Mac Mini (M4, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) is down to $499. That saves you $100 off its MSRP of $599. Is this the lowest price ever on the Mac Mini? No. It's lowest price was $469, but we didn't even see this desktop return to that price during Amazon's July or October Prime Day, meaning $499 is the next best price.

The Apple Mac Mini, is an affordable desktop from Apple. This little computer has 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD but tucks away next to a monitor where you can enjoy the devices quick and efficient power. It's built for Apple Intelligence, if that's your thing, and has a variety of ports including a Thunderbolt, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet ports, front-facing USB-C ports, and a headphone jack.

Shop the Apple Mac Mini (M4, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) now for just $499 at Amazon and save $100 on the desktop computer.

At Snapdragon Summit this year, Qualcomm introduced a new generation of its flagship computer processor — the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip. This is a monster powerhouse that can stand up to the likes of even the mighty Apple M4 processor. At the event, Qualcomm brought some reference devices to show what these chips could actually do, and one mini PC immediately caught my attention.

Affectionately called "the UFO," it's a circular mini PC roughly five inches in diameter, and it captured my heart the instant I saw it. I've never seen anything quite like it before.

What's the purpose of reference devices like this? They allowed Qualcomm to show what its new chipsets can do.

A chip, like the engine of a car, only goes so far on its own. Without the rest of the vehicle — the wheels, doors, and seats — you're not going to get very far. But while the new flagship chips were supposed to be the main event, I was drawn to the UFO's unique design.

Credit: Adam Doud / Mashable

The Snapdragon logo on the top even acts as a power button, which is a lovely little touch. Aside from the Snapdragon X2 Elite processor inside, the reference design also has 16 or 32GB RAM, three USB-C ports around the periphery, a power port for a barrel plug (boo for not charging with USB-C), and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There's no word on storage, but 256GB would be a safe assumption.

Mini PCs are great for keeping things minimal on your desk and staying out of the way. And this mini PC definitely qualifies. You could pick this PC up and slip it into a backpack, or even a moderately-sized fanny pack, but that's not really what it's for. Its design lets you keep your desktop almost completely free.

Credit: Adam Doud / Mashable

The round plate, for lack of a better word, is very thin. It's shaped like a large coaster or wireless charging puck. Including the feet that keep it from lying flush on the table, it's about 14mm tall, or about the height of eight U.S. quarters, which is fun. You could also say it's about as thick as a folded Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. Either way, it's tiny, and I love the form factor.

Credit: Adam Doud / Mashable

Credit: Adam Doud / Mashable

Of course, this is a reference device that will never see store shelves, but it shows you what's possible with the latest generation of processors. I can only hope that a computer maker will pick up this design concept and run with it.

What I think is even more exciting is the idea of running Snapdragon chips on wired hardware. Up until now, Snapdragon-powered PCs have been exclusively laptops and portables, which have been great. But working with a hard-wired concept like a mini PC will allow Qualcomm and computer makers to push the hardware even further, without having to worry about battery life.

But in the meantime, this "UFO" is the mini PC of my dreams, and I would love to see a company turn it into reality.

If you've been looking for the right time to upgrade your desktop computer, Apple's M4 iMac just went on sale. So long as you're not picky about the color, now's a good time to add it to your cart.

As of Sept. 25, the 2024 Apple iMac with the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage is down to $1,347.50 at Amazon if you choose the blue model. That's 10% or $151.50 in savings. The green option is also down to $1,349, while the silver option is sitting at $1,353. Unfortunately, the yellow, orange, pink, and purple models are all still full price.

Launched last October, the M4 iMac didn't make too many major changes to the previous generation Apple desktop. The main differences are the M4 chip (versus its M3 predecessor), of course, as well as new colorways and the inclusion of Apple Intelligence features. Apple said in a press release that the M4 chip is 1.7 times faster for daily productivity and 2.1 times faster for photo editing and gaming compared to the M1 iMac. While it didn't compare it to the previous M3 model, it's safe to say the M4 will trump its predecessor in speed.

Other features include support for up to 24GB of unified memory, 10-core GPU, a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, 12MP Center Stage camera, four USB-C ports, and the ability to connect up to two 6K external displays.

There's a chance this particular iMac could drop even lower during Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days event. But if you're not willing to gamble, we suggest jumping on this $150+ savings while it's around.

If you’ve been holding out for a powerful Mac desktop that won’t empty your wallet, this is a major budget-friendly opportunity. This renewed premium model offers flagship-level specs at a mid-tier price — perfect for creatives, developers, or home office professionals who want top-tier performance without the brand-new price tag.

Inside its small yet powerful build, this desktop packs Apple’s M2 Max chip with a 12-core CPU and a 30-core GPU — more than enough to chew through 4K video edits, 3D rendering, and intensive multitasking. According to Apple’s own performance benchmarks, the M2 Max delivers up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 3.6x faster GPU performance than the old 27-inch iMac — a huge leap for any professional setup.

And while it’s powerful, it still keeps Apple’s signature compact form factor — the Mac Studio fits cleanly on any desk without the usual bulk of a workstation tower.

Part of the reason that this deal is so good is its “Renewed Premium” status, meaning the unit — although previously used — has been professionally inspected, cleaned, and comes with a full year of Amazon’s satisfaction guarantee. It’s basically the closest you’ll get to “like new,” with none of the risk.

This is a limited-time deal and a rare chance to snag pro-level Apple hardware at entry-level Mac pricing.

The 2024 Mac Mini totes an M4 chip and a whole lot of power, even while it's half the size of the previous model. Apple claims that its M4 chip is up to 13 times faster than its fastest silicone Mini Model. That's a jolt.

For the first time, the Mac Mini 2024 (M4 Chip, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD Storage) has dropped below $500 on Amazon. Right now, get it for $490.84 and save $108.16, or 18%.

The Mac Mini M4 comes in a few different configurations. This sale price version has 16GB of RAM to support its 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU. It also holds a 256GB SSD, ready to stock with movies, film, games, and more.

If the built in SSD isn't enough, never fear, with 3 thunderbolt ports you'll be able to expand memory with an external SSD with little (if any) loss of transfer speed. It also has two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, HDMI, and an ethernet port.

Right now, May 5th, the Mac Mini 2024 (M4 Chip, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD Storage) is at its lowest price, under $500. Get it for $490.84 and save $108.16 or 18%.

Whether you're running Adobe apps, games, or productivity software, this computer wields quite a lot of power for the price. Pair it with a screen and keyboard for a powerful desktop experience, use it as a touring musician's workstation, or make it the keystone of a lab.

Apple Mac Studio (M3 Ultra)

Apple surprise-announced a new Mac Studio featuring the M4 Max and all-new M3 Ultra chips in the middle of its "Air" week Wednesday. Set for release on March 12, the refreshed compact desktop is now available for preorder in the Apple Store starting at $1,999 for the M4 Max version and $3,999 for the M3 Ultra variant.

Billed as "the most powerful Mac ever" in Apple's press release, the new Mac Studio will supposedly deliver "a big boost in performance compared to the previous generation, and a massive leap for users coming from older Macs."

The M4 Max model has up to a 16-core CPU and up to a 40-core GPU, making it up to 3.5 times faster than the M1 Max-powered Mac Studio from late 2021 and up to 6.1 times faster than a 27-inch Intel iMac from 2020. Its 16-core Neural Engine is supposedly three times faster than its M1 Max counterpart. It comes with 32GB to 128GB of RAM and 512GB to 8TB of SSD storage, maxing out at $5,899, and it supports up to five displays. Apple recommends it for creative professionals, developers, and engineers with heavy workflows involving visuals and AI tasks.

The M3 Ultra model is geared toward users with workloads that are somehow even more demanding. With up to a 32-core CPU (including 24 performance cores), the most CPU cores Apple's even crammed into a Mac, it's up to twice as fast as the M4 Max version in certain tasks and up to 2.6 times faster than the M1 Ultra Mac Studio from 2022. That CPU is joined by up to an 80-core GPU, another record-setter, plus a 32-core Neural Engine for AI tasks and machine learning. It comes with 96GB to 512GB of RAM and 1TB to 16TB of storage, maxing out at an eye-watering $14,099. It supports up to eight 6K displays.

Both configurations' GPUs feature dynamic caching, hardware-accelerated mesh shading, and a second-generation ray-tracing engine "for more seamless content creation and gaming," according to Apple.

On the outside, the new Mac Studio is the same silver box we've come to know, except it now has Thunderbolt 5 connectivity. There are four Thunderbolt 5 ports on the back of both configurations alongside two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a 10Gb Ethernet port, and a headphone jack. Both models have an SDXC card slot on the front, which the M3 Ultra model pairs with two extra Thunderbolt 5 ports. The M4 Max model swaps them for two USB-C ports.

The reality of WFH is different for everyone. Hours, deadlines, and work-life balance. It's all dependent on the job you do. There's one unifying fact of WFH, though: We all need the right tools to get the job done. We all need some kind of home office set-up.

Things like desk chairs, monitors, and printers are essential items. Basically, all the things that we used to take for granted in the actual office. Arguably, most important of all is the keyboard. You wouldn't produce anything during your 9-5 without one.

But not all keyboards are made equal. And not all keyboards are made for everybody. The vast selection of keyboards available cater for different types of work and workstations, with lots of features to consider. We've put together a list of the best keyboards below, along with some useful information to get you started.

What are the different keyboard layouts?

All the keyboards included in this roundup are the classic QWERTY layout (as opposed to the less common DVORAK layout). But there are still different variations. Standard, full-size keyboards (sometimes called 100% keyboards) usually have 104 keys, which will include a number pad, function “F” keys, and arrows. “Tenkeyless” (also called the 80% layout) have 87 keys and ditch the number pad. You will find further variations, such as the 60% keyboard, which all drop or smush together the keys into slightly different, increasingly compact layouts. And Apple, of course, has its own distinct version of the QWERTY layout.

What is an ergonomic keyboard?

An ergonomic keyboard is designed to be comfortable and promote positive alignment and movement. That means it will help tackle problems such as repetitive strain injury or carpal tunnel. Look out for a keyboard with ergonomic features if you spend hours upon hours at the desk — whether it’s for work or gaming.

Is a wireless keyboard better than wired?

You’ll see that many modern keyboards are wireless and connect via Bluetooth. These are great for the modern lifestyle, in which we’re all wirelessly connected to multiple devices. Indeed, a wireless keyboard is great for travelling and moving around between computers. If you don’t need that mobility, however, a wired keyboard may be cheaper. You’ll also find that high-end gaming keyboards are wired because the response is more reliable. Wired keyboards are not at the mercy of a Bluetooth connection, so there’s no input lag — and they don’t need regular recharging.

Can you use a gaming keyboard for work?

While this keyboard roundup is supposed to be for WFH, a faming keyboards has sneaked in — that’s because it's just so good. The most obvious feature on gaming keyboards is RGB lighting. But gaming keyboards are also built for heavy, quickfire use, with durable and responsive key switches. They may also have a feature called anti-ghosting — which allows you to register multiple keystrokes pressed at the same time — or macro commands that trigger a string of specific commands with a single keypress. There’s no reason you can’t use a gaming keyboard for work. Gaming keyboards often have number pads, which is great if you work with numbers.

What is the best keyboard?

That all depends on you, your job, and your habits. All we can do is make some suggestions and highlight some of the best keyboards around. It’s up to you to choose the one that will keep you tapping away happily.

These are the best keyboards in 2025.

The Mac Mini is a powerful creator's computer with a small footprint. Bring it on stage for latency-free live musical performances, connect it to a screen and use it as your main desktop, or build out an industrial process with it as the main hub. This larger version might be from 2018 but it still has power.

Currently the Mac Mini i7 32GB RAM 128GB PCIe SSD is available for a deal price of $329.99 at Woot! saving you $170, or 34%.

This Mac Mini's 32GB of RAM is the star of the show. You won't find a laptop with that much computing memory for near this price. Its i7 3.2GHz 6-core 8th Gen processor is dated, but still powerful, especially when it's running with all of that RAM.

Four Thunderbolt-3 cables make sure you can transfer data in and out faster than an eye can blink (or a USB-C can churn data). Use these for screens, external hard drives, an eGPU, and more.

Right now, this Mac Mini i7 32GB RAM 128GB PCIe SSD deal is available from Woot! for only $329.99, saving you $170.

Whether you're planning to start a business that needs strong computing power, you're a DJ who wants to run Ableton Live flawlessly on stage, or you're simply looking for a good computer for less, this deal is not to be missed.

Satechi, a maker of computer, phone, and tablet accessories known for sleek and clever designs, has another banger on its hands.

First shown at CES 2025, the Mac mini M4 Stand and Hub adds more storage and additional ports to Apple's latest Mac mini.

In particular, it adds three USB-A ports, a memory card reader, and the possibility to add SSD storage up to 4TB, thus greatly expanding the Mac mini's maximum 2TB of storage. It also has a fan that should help cool the Mac mini, and it looks pretty much like a flatter version of Apple's miniature computer, meaning it won't ruin its sleek look on your desk.

The hub complements the Mac mini's design, while adding a ton of additional ports and storage. Credit: Satechi

But the coolest feature of Satechi's new hub is the recess on the back left side, allowing you to easily reach the Mac mini's power button without lifting it.

That's right, Apple placed the new M4 Mac mini's power button on the bottom, requiring one to lift the device a little to reach it. But with the Satechi's new hub, the feat should be a little easier to perform.

The Satechi hub connects to the Mac mini via a short Thunderbolt cable, meaning it will take up one of its ports on the back, but it's probably a fair trade for the added functionality.

Satechi's new Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure will hit the market in February for a price of $99.

Mashable is on the ground live at CES 2025! We’re covering all the wildest and most important developments this week, so please keep checking back in with us. Want to submit a product you represent for our teams’ consideration as we identify the Best of CES? Here’s more info on how to do it.

What a week, huh? Apple just had three straight days of announcements: First we got the new, colorful iMac, then the most powerful Mac mini ever, followed by the grand finale: the new MacBook Pro devices with Apple's new M4 Pro and M4 Max chips inside.

All of these new machines sound great. Apple's M4 chips are among the best — if not the best — PC chips you can buy when you account for power drain and performance. And yet, I've never been less compelled to upgrade.

I don't even have a very recent laptop. My main workhorse is a 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip inside, and my wife works on a 13.3-inch M1 MacBook Pro. Neither of us ever feel the need for a more powerful machine, simply because the M1 and M1 Max chips, respectively, are already incredibly powerful.

I got the M1 Max MacBook Pro on a whim. Last year, it was discounted so hard at a local retailer that I actually both emailed and called to make sure that the discount was real. I thought it had something to do with the fact that M1 Max is a pricy, pro-grade machine, and that very few buyers were actually willing to dish out the full asking price for something they don't need.

It's true: I don't really have a use for 10 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores. I'm not a video graphics professional that runs complex projects in something like Blender. But the discount was there, and I got the M1 Max laptop because it cost less than the asking price of the M1 Pro just a few months earlier.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

And let's face it, even the less powerful, M1 MacBook Pro is more than enough to handle my everyday tasks.

If you read Apple's promo materials, you may have noticed that the company no longer compares its latest products with the last generation, but the one before that. In the case of M4, the company actually skipped two generations back, comparing the chip with the M1 (Apple says the M4 Max is up to 2.2x faster than the M1 Max, for example). But you get those results if you push that chip really hard. If you have 20 Chrome tabs open, a few social media apps running, and a game of Hearthstone running in the background...well, it may be faster on paper, but I don't really see how as my current laptop handles everything near-instantly.

I am some kind of computer professional, and I am also a huge computer nerd, and for these reasons alone, yes, I'd like to have the latest, most powerful MacBook Pro. But honestly, this desire has never been more subdued, as I just know that I literally would not be able to tell the difference between my three-year old laptop and the new one.

It's hard to blame Apple for making chips so good that you don't have a reason to upgrade every year or even every three years. But it does make you wonder whether there are other things the company could do to make these new computers a bit more desirable. The Space Black color only goes so far, and you could get the last generation in that color (albeit only with the 16-inch model). Thunderbolt 5, a slightly better battery life, and improved display are nice features, but are they nice enough to replace your old MacBook with a new one for a couple thousand dollars? The main selling point for these new MacBooks is the chip, and if that doesn't convince potential buyers, these other improvements inside won't cut it.

Perhaps more colors are the way, or perhaps a design change is in order. Maybe the company needs to do something radical, such as introduce the oft-rumored, but never-really-close-to-production foldable, all-screen MacBook. In any case, I need a better reason to want these new laptops than just the chip, because the chip has been way ahead of me for a while now.

Apple's new Mac mini is pretty amazing. It's a machine I dreamed about when I was a kid: a quiet little aluminum box that packs immense power (especially if you equip it with Apple's new M4 Pro chip).

There's one thing about the latest Mac mini, however, that strikes me as odd. The device has two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front, and three more Thunderbolt ports, an Ethernet port, an HDMI port, and a power plug on the back.

There's no visible power button, though. So how do you turn this thing on and off? Easy: You lift it, reach under it, and (probably) blindly search with your hand until you find the power button — because the power button is located on the bottom of the Mac mini.

Now, the Mac mini does not lay fully flat on the surface of your desktop (floor, etc), so you might be able to turn it on and off without lifting it into the air. But given that desktop computers — even if they're as tiny as the new mini — are typically stowed away somewhere at the back of your table, or beneath it, this could be a bit of a nuisance.

Perhaps it's not as bad as it appears. Credit: Apple

Apple's product design is typically pretty great, but the company does make odd decisions like this every once in a while, with the most egregious example being the Magic Mouse, which is charged via a plug on the bottom. Arguably, the power button placement on the new Mac mini is even worse, as turning the computer on and off (or forcing a reboot) might be something you do more often than you charge your mouse.

It's possible that the Mac mini is so...well, mini, that Apple had to get creative when it comes to power button placement as to conserve as much space as possible. Still, the power button does seem like something that could fit on the back, or the front, or the top of the mini — anywhere besides the bottom, really. It all seems quite odd, though perhaps it's something you can get used to; we'll tell you how this works in practice once we spend some time with the mini.

Apple M4 and M4 Pro Mac Mini

starting at $599

Preorder now

Apple's Mac Week didn't start and wrap up on a Monday, of course: The Tuesday (Oct. 29) of the event saw the arrival of the M4 and M4 Pro Mac Minis.

This drop was more anticlimactic than expected after Amazon leaked some specs a day early, but this major step up from the older M2 Minis is exciting nonetheless. Pre-orders for all configurations are live now at the Apple Store, with the 16GB Unified Memory and 256GB SSD M4 Mini going for $599, the 16GB Unified Memory and 512GB SSD M4 Mini going for $799, 24GB Unified Memory and 512GB SSD M4 Mini going for $999, and the 24GB Unified Memory and 512GB SSD M4 Mini Pro going for $1,399. All units officially come out on Nov. 8.

Just as we expected, these new versions of the Mini grew in power while shrinking in size. Now with dimensions of just 5 x 5, the cube-ish M4 Minis are essentially ridiculously-powerful desktops squeezed into an Apple TV 4K package. Despite losing physical space, the new M4 models absolutely school their predecessors in benchmark tests. We're talking up to 1.8 times faster CPU performance compared to the M2 (2.2 times over the M1).

Those numbers are scaled up even further when "Pro" is added to the mix, partially thanks to the Pro's 12-core CPU and 16-core GPU (compared to 10 and 10 on the non-Pro M4 Mini). These marks will be particularly game-changing for those undertaking heavy projects in programs like Logic Pro, Motion, or Blender. The M4 Pro also wields not just one, but three Thunderbolt 5 port — a Mac first.

All M4 Minis also come with Apple Intelligence compatibility, opening up a world of possibilities with AI writing tools, image creation tools, and more, plus ChatGPT integration coming in December. The M4 Minis are also Apple's first carbon neutral Macs.

Mac Week is officially here, and Apple's kicked it off with an iMac announcement.

As of Oct. 28, the M4 Apple iMac is available for preorder, starting with 16GB of unified memory, 256GB of storage, and an 8-core CPU and GPU for $1,299. You can preorder the Apple desktop from Apple's online store, Amazon, and Best Buy, with the computer becoming officially available on Friday, Nov. 8.

The 24-inch iMac doesn't come with major upgrades from the M3 iMac, which was released almost one year ago to the date, after no M2 iMac was released in 2022. However, there are three major differences: the M4 chip, new colorways, and Apple Intelligence features the brand has been teasing out since June. On that last point, Apple also announced today that some of these features are already live for folks with more recent iPhones, iPads, and Macs, but even more will become available in December.

Like the M3 iMac, the M4 iMac supports up to 24GB of unified memory, 10-core GPU, and sports a 4.5K Retina display. As for how their speeds compare, Apple focused on the performance difference between the M4 and M1 chip (which was two generations back on the iMac). In its press release, Apple claims the M4 iMac is up to 1.7 times faster than the previous model — in the release for the M3 iMac last year, Apple wrote the "iMac with M3 is up to 2x faster than the prior generation with M1." While it's hard to glean how the two most recent models compare, one thing is clear: They're both faster than the M1 iMac.

M4 iMac users will also get a 12MP Center Stage camera, four USB-C ports, and the ability to connect up to two 6K external displays.

We sort of know that Apple's Mac mini is coming soon — based on rumors and Apple's own 'Mac week' announcement — but Amazon jumped the gun and shared the tiny desktop's specs slightly ahead of time.

The new Mac mini can be seen in a comparison chart (now removed) on Amazon's site (via MacRumors) that lays down the key specs for two variants of the new Mac mini.

As the chart indicates, the new Mac mini will be available either with an M4 or an M4 Pro chip, with up to 14 CPU cores, up to 20 GPU cores, up to 64GB of unified RAM memory, and up to 8TB of storage. Pretty darn powerful for a mini desktop computer.

The comparison chart even gives a small (very small) glimpse at the new Mac mini's design, which (in line with previous reports) will be a lot smaller, and slightly more square-ish than the current one.

Unfortunately for Space Black fans, it appears that the new Mac mini will only be available in one color: Silver.

Apple is likely to announce the new Mac mini sometime this week, probably before its quarterly earnings results which the company plans to share on Thursday.

If you've been eyeing up Apple's premium Studio Display monitor, Amazon's Prime Day deal might just be your best opportunity. It's on sale for $1,299.99, about a 19% decrease from $1,599. That's an all-time-low price.

Granted, because this is Apple we're talking about, that's still a pretty hefty price tag for a monitor. The Apple Studio Display features a 27-inch 5K Retina screen with 600 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors.

The Apple Studio Display performs well but is mostly geared toward Apple loyalists due to its pricing, according to a review from PCMag, which is owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis. With the price now discounted for Prime Day, perhaps it's worth revisiting a purchase for those in the market for a premium monitor.

If you take your gaming seriously, you’ve probably invested a lot in high-end processors, graphics cards, powerful laptops, and many other types of hardware to make your gaming experience more competitive. If you haven’t added a great monitor yet, you’re not seeing everything that powerful hardware and peripherals deliver — so it pays to have the best screen in front of you.

That’s where the new line of OLED gaming monitors from GIGABYTE comes into play (literally), with a variety of new options for gamers, creators, and anyone else who wants to make the most of every pixel possible.

Clarity, quality, and special OLED Care

Credit: GIGABYTE

These new monitor options from GIGABYTE and AORUS range from 27 to 49 inches and are available in flat and curved screens. Refresh rates top out at an impressive 360 Hz with a speedy 0.03ms GtG response time for super-responsive gameplay. These QD-OLED panels also deliver industry-best clarity and are certified at a ClearMR 13000 level by VESA.

An investment like this deserves to be taken care of, which is why GIGABYTE loaded these screens up with their OLED Care package. AI-based solutions like Static Control automatically detect if the screen is idle and drop the brightness automatically to prevent burn-in. The Pixel Clean function automatically refreshes pixels after a set time of usage. These monitors can even dim specific portions of the screen (like a taskbar, logo, or other fixed graphic), protecting against burn-in and extending the screen’s lifespan when you don’t even realize it.

Add tactics to your graphics

Credit: GIGABYTE

All the new GIGABYTE and AORUS monitors are also packed with gaming-friendly tactical features for a little something extra that your competition wishes they had. GIGABYTE’s Black Equalizer keeps dark areas clear without compromising the brighter sections. Game Assist allows you to toggle on a customizable crosshair, add a counter and a timer to the display, and even add multi-screen alignment lines if you’re working with a big multi-panel setup.

Plus, the OSD Sidekick utility lets you control monitor functions with your mouse and keyboard — not by fumbling around for buttons on the back of the display.

If your gaming preferences skew toward first-person shooters (FPS), you can opt for one of the FPS-specific monitors that come with nice extras to enhance your gameplay, like the AORUS FO32U2. The Resolution Switch allows you to pop the monitor to a 24-inch 1080p resolution with one click, ensuring that your enemies aren’t sneaking around in your peripheral vision. Night Vision also kicks in when your surroundings get darker, allowing the screen to bring out extra details in dark areas without over-brightening the rest of the display.

Great views for all kinds of uses

All of this brings us to GIGABYTE's new flagship display: the AORUS FO32U2P. This 2024 Red Dot-awarded 32-inch 4K flat-panel monitor is the world’s first DP 2.1 tactical gaming monitor that delivers 80 Gbps of bandwidth, allowing for uncompressed 4K resolution at 240Hz. (That’s almost double what an HDMI 2.1 input can handle.) Thanks to the DisplayPort IO usage, this model lets you daisy-chain together multiple displays for large or surround-style viewscapes.

Credit: GIGABYTE Gaming Monitor

Not all of these new monitors are spec’d out just for gameplay. If you need more space to spread your windows around, the massive 49-inch Ultrawide (32:9) CO49DQ delivers tons of real estate while also making it easier for your eyes with its curved design. If that’s too much for one office, the 34-inch MO34WQC2 or the MO34WQC with 21:9 widescreen ratio and curved design would be the better choice.

A great gaming system demands a great monitor, but even if you only play on occasion, a crisp, bright, intelligent display makes any computing task more pleasant. Your content creation or document edits will benefit from the smoothness and clarity of these QD-OLED optimized monitors. When it’s time to switch to your favorite shooter, you’ll be happy to find the tactical crosshair a keystroke away.

2023 Apple Mac mini (M2 chip, 256 GB)

Get Deal

Apple's Mac Mini desktop computers are small, but they're more than mighty. Their powerful M2 chip allows them to perform all the heavy lifting you need when it comes to media-centric tasks like editing photos and videos. But they're also great for tackling your daily tasks like browsing online, creating presentations, or watching your favorite shows. If you've been waiting to get your hands on one but found the Mac Mini's price tag prohibitively expensive, Amazon's got the new Mac Mini on sale for its lowest price ever.

As of Nov. 28, the 2023 Mac Mini (M2 chip, 256 GB) is down to $479 at Amazon. That's a savings of $120, or 20%, on its original price. It's also the lowest price the computer has gone for yet.

This Mac Mini comes with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU that's a decent upgrade from the previous model. Even with its small, square-shaped form (a surprisingly tiny 7.5 x 7.5 inches and 2.5 pounds), it still boasts two Thunderbolt 4 ports and can support up to three displays at up to 8K resolution — which means an excellent picture no matter whether you edit music videos or binge your favorite K-drama.

This is the lowest price the Mac Mini has ever been, so if you've had your eye on it, lock it in before this deal disappears.

Apple just dropped a new iMac and it's packed with the next-generation processor: the M3 chip. For the uninitiated, the iMac may seem like nothing more than a monitor, but don't let its sleek display fool you. It's actually an all-in-one PC packed with a processor and graphics, as well as memory and storage.

It's about time that Apple upgraded the M1 iMac, which was introduced at Apple's Spring Loaded event in 2021. Now, we have a refreshed iMac with a wealth of new features. Check out the 3 new features of the new M3 iMac.

3 new features of the M3 iMac

The new iMac is not massively different from the previous version; it features the same size, design, and even the colors have remained the same. Here are three standout features:

1. That M3 chip

The new M3 chip is Apple's first 3-nanometer chip for desktop computers. It's faster while being less power-hungry. To be precise, an iMac with an M3 chip is up to two times faster than the prior iMac generation with an M1 chip. The star of the show is the new, 10-core GPU, which will bring up to 50% faster frame rates in games. The new iMac also supports up to 24GB of unified memory.

2. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3

One small, but important change for those who need fast wireless connectivity is the freshly added support for Wi-Fi 6E, which enables download speeds that are twice as fast as the previous generation, as well as support for Bluetooth 5.3, replacing Bluetooth 5.0 on the previous model.

Still only comes in 24-inch size. Credit: Apple

3. Up to 24GB of memory

The new iMac can now be had with 24GB of memory, instead of only 16GB.

And while not technically new or a feature, you'll probably be happy to know that the starting price for the iMac is still the same: $1,299.

Other than the above, it's worth noting that the iMac is not available with the new M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. You can only get it with the vanilla M3 variety. And yes, it still only comes in one size – a 24-inch display.

If you want a beefier iMac, you can have it with 24GB memory, a 10-core GPU (instead of the starting 8-core GPU) and 2TB of storage, though that will cost you a total of $2,699.

As for the colors, your choices are (still) green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver.

Most of the other details have remained the same, including the 4.5K Retina display, 1080p webcam, six-speaker system, three mics, and up to four USB ports.

Finally, Apple says that the new iMac is better for the environment, with a stand that uses 100% recycled aluminum, while the gold in the plating of "multiple printed circuit boards" inside is also 100% recycled.

The new iMac can be ordered now and will start shipping on Nov. 7.

Pining for brand new MacBooks and an iMac? You may be in luck.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a well-respected Apple analyst, recently predicted that Apple is planning to launch new Macs, including a new iMac, on October 30 or 31.

It's been a long time coming. The iMac hasn't been updated since 2021. At the time, the company dropped a colorful 24-inch Mac with an M1 chip inside.

Now, however, Gurman claims that the current version of the iMac, as well as all versions of the MacBook Pro, are in short supply, indicating that new devices are coming.

The new Macs are expected to launch in late October, just ahead of Apple's earnings call on November 2.

Rumored specs for new October iMac and MacBooks

What about the specs? Back in March, Gurman wrote that the new device will also have a 24-inch display, and will come in the same colors as the current iMac. It will, however, be powered by a newer chip, perhaps an M2 or even an M3.

Notably, Gurman claims that Apple originally planned to launch a pro-focused iMac soon after it launched the 24-inch version in 2021, but that product was shelved due to "cost concerns."

As mentioned, besides the iMac, Apple is also likely to launch new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Apple launched new versions of these devices in January 2023, and another update would be "unusual but not inconceivable." If Apple does update the MacBook Pros, they will likely be similar to the current versions, with the only major difference being the new M3 chips inside.

The popularity of gaming PCs has exploded in recent years. Sure, there are plenty of people who won’t abandon their beloved consoles, but a large number of gaming enthusiasts have been shifting their attention. And with good reason.

Console exclusive games are now (mostly) a thing of the past, so you can use your PC to play the latest strategy and simulation games, as well as eSports and first-person shooters. And that's just the tip of the pixelated iceberg with PC gaming.

The tricky part is actually choosing one. Unless you're already tech-minded, it's hard to know exactly what you're buying and what all the spec and components actually mean or do. We know it's hard to crack the PC buying code, so we've laid out some basic information below — not to mention a selection of excellent gaming PCs.

Console gaming vs. PC gaming — which is better?

For starters, PC games are cheaper and the breadth available is truly astounding. Additionally, thanks to the PC’s open platform, you also have access to a wide array of independent games. Just as critical, modern PCs are sleeker and more affordable. They are now relatively quiet, power conscious, unobtrusive machines.

Moreover, gaming PCs also deliver impressive graphics that certainly rival those of Xbox and PlayStation. And they’re even compatible with a variety of controller options. You can use anything from a keyboard and mouse to steering wheel and joystick. Best of all, PCs can easily be modified. You have the power to continually alter your computer and refine the perfect gaming experience.

What does it mean to upgrade your PC?

When buying a gaming PC, your ability to upgrade is key. After all, it’s common for gamers to swap out a component or two as new games and products emerge. And it’s a whole lot cheaper to do this than to purchase an entirely new computer. Therefore, you’ll want to buy a PC that allows you to access parts like the motherboard, GPU, and RAM. Even if you start off with a mid-tier CPU, for instance, you can soup it up at a later date.

What do gaming PC components actually do?

As you shop around, you’ll definitely want to pay attention to these components and features. These are the internal bits and pieces that make the machine work:

• CPU — Also called the processor, this is the brain of your PC. Lots of high-end computers are equipped with six-core processors. which is great if for additional tasks such as photo and video editing. However, if you are strictly purchasing your PC for gaming, you don’t actually need six cores. Some gamers suggest cutting back and prioritising better graphics or solid state drives.

• GPU — Good graphics — and therefore good graphics cards — are key to the gaming experience. Expensive computers typically come with high-end graphics cards but don’t worry if you can’t afford a pricier model. Most PCs still provide a mid-range option. And you can always swap out your card for a better one in the future.

• Storage — You have two major options: Solid state drive (SSD) or hard disk drive (HDD). SSDs have faster boot times and load games quickly, with minimal noise and using less power. However, if you’re using your PC for work or other activities, opt for a HDD — especially if you need video and archival photo storage.

• RAM — Random Access Memory allows your PC to run several programmes at once. It's important in gaming because games can be very taxing on memory. We recommended a minimum of 8GB. If you can kick it up to 16GB or more, even better. This will help improve your PC’s overall performance and curb potential bottleneck.

• Audio — Many of today’s most popular games are designed with surround sound. Thankfully, the vast majority of PCs are made with on-board, multi-channel audio codecs that deliver a fully immersive experience. Of course, you may also want to consider purchasing a quality headset and microphone as well.

Keep these features in mind when beginning your purchase process.

How much does a gaming PC cost?

Unless you have unlimited funds, the price tag will also play a role in your decision. If you’re looking for a decent computer with basic to mid-level specs, you can expect to pay over £500. And if you’re feeling flush and ready to drop £1,000 or more, you’ll be able to buy a high-end system with top-notch specs like multiple GPUs and a minimum of two drives (either hard or solid state).

What is the best gaming PC?

Now that you know what to look out for, you’re ready to peep the top picks. We've lined up a selection of strong options from top brands such as Acer and HP. You just need to pick a favourite.

These are the best gaming PCs in 2025.

If you've grown accustomed to Windows PCs, the move to a Mac can feel discombobulating. While Apple's Macs can process words, edit images, and browse the web just as well as PCs, differences such as the absence of a Windows key may leave new users floundering.

Fortunately, many of Mac's operations are very similar to Windows, including its copy and paste function. It'll only take a little bit of patience and practice until you're just as fluent in Mac as you are in PC.

On June 5, at this year's WWDC, Apple is all but certain to launch an entirely new product category: A mixed reality headset, likely called Reality Pro.

So far, we've heard reports that the company also plans to launch a new, 15-inch MacBook Air, but it now appears that Apple is preparing for an imminent launch of some new Macs as well.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman recently tweeted that he expects to see "several new Macs" at WWDC.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

Gurman then followed up with a report that Apple is testing new "high-end" Macs ahead of the event.

We're talking at least two new Mac models, one running the previously announced M2 Max chip, and the other equipped with the entirely new M2 Ultra chip.

Gurman shared some specs for the upcoming machines, both of which are desktop computers. The first one would have the M2 Max chip with eight high-performance cores, four efficiency cores, and 30 graphics cores, with up to 96GB of memory. The other, more powerful new Mac would be running the M2 Ultra chip with 24 processing cores, with 16 high-performance cores and eight efficiency cores, and a whopping 60 graphics cores. It could come with either 64GB, 128GB, or 192GB of memory.

It appears, however, that neither of these two new computers will be part of Apple's Mac Pro lineup, which hasn't been refreshed in three years. Instead, they would likely be new versions of the Mac Studio, a compact desktop computer which sits in between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro.

Bloomberg previously reported that Apple is also working on an updated 13-inch MacBook Air (besides the new, 15-inch MacBook Air model), a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, and a refreshed version of the 24-inch iMac. It's unclear which of these will launch at WWDC, but it appears that at least several could make the cut.

Apple's M2 chips made their debut in 2022, appearing in everything from the lightweight MacBook Air to new iPads, as well as the ultra-lightweight and portable Mac mini desktop line. But despite the actual Mac mini being the perfect size for working on the go — whether that's across the room or the country — it's always been a bit pricey for many users to justify adding to their setup. But today's sale just might mean it's time to invest.

As of May 17, you can pick up the 256GB M2 Mac mini for just $499.99. That's a savings of 17% or $99.01 off its original price.

The 256GB model is no slouch. Though it's only a small upgrade from the original Mac mini when it comes to its internals, it includes a new 8-core CPU and a new 10-core GPU that speeds things up significantly from 2020's M1 model. In terms of connectivity, it also features two Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as a headphone jack. It supports up to three displays, with up to 8K options with HDMI, so you can count on whatever you're doing for work or play to look crisp. You get all of this in a small 7.75 x 7.75-inch footprint that weighs just over 2.5 pounds.

While it's true you'll likely find punchier PCs for the price, these upgraded Apple computers are still great options for creatives and anyone who does a lot of photo or video editing. They're snappy, easy to move around, and you can't beat their sleek aesthetic. Shopping refurbished gives you the chance to find low prices for high-quality machines, which beats budgeting against inflation. Take a look at this refurbished Lenovo ThinkCentre M93 if you want a compact desktop that still packs a lot of power. It’s only $199.99.

A like-new desktop for a super low price

This Lenovo ThinkCentre is in near-mint condition, so there’s virtually no way to tell it’s refurbished other than the low price. Work or play on this powerful computer that comes with 16GB RAM and an i5-4670T processor for low-lag performance when you’ve got multiple apps running.

All you need to supply is the monitor because this computer already comes with a USB keyboard, mouse, and a Wi-Fi dongle. If you want a more stable internet connection, you can also take advantage of the integrated Intel Gigabit Ethernet. If you have other extra hardware, the eight built-in USB ports should be enough room for some fun add-ons. It also has inputs for headphones, mics, an RJ-45 connector, and of course, there’s a place to plug in a monitor.

Store files locally on a 256GB SSD and see what kinds of games you can play using the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4,600 GPU. That’s a lot of power per square inch considering this computer is only 7.2 inches wide. If you need a compact workspace, this computer certainly doesn’t take up much room, but there’s a lot you could do with it.

Save on a like-new refurbished desktop computer

Shopping for refurbished technology is cost-effective and a much greener way to upgrade than buying brand-new. For a limited time, you can get a like-new Lenovo ThinkCentre M93 computer on sale for only $199.99 (reg. $350).

When Apple launched its first MacBooks with its in-house M1 chip, back in June 2020, company CEO Tim Cook said all Macs would run on Apple silicon within two years.

It hasn't exactly happened. Apple did switch to M1 and M2 chips in most of its lineup, but the company's most powerful machine, the Mac Pro, can still only be configured with Intel processors.

According to a new report by Bloomberg, this is because Apple is building a slightly different new Mac Pro than originally envisioned.

The company first planned to build the Mac Pro around the M1 chip, with two main configurations: One as powerful as two M1 Max chips combined, and another as powerful as four M1 Max chips combined.

The first of those chips eventually saw the light of day in the Mac Studio as the M1 Ultra, but the Mac Pro was pushed back for a later date. At that point, Apple thought about building the Mac Pro around the new "M2 Ultra," and its most powerful chip ever, the "M2 Extreme".

That last chip would have 48 CPU cores and 152 graphics cores, and it would be an absolute beast, but Apple decided that a Mac Pro based on this chip would likely be a niche product, and prohibitively expensive (starting at $10,000) for most buyers.

All of this brings us to Apple's current plans, which are reportedly to build the Mac Pro only around the M2 Ultra. Like its predecessor, it should also be a versatile machine, with options to expand the memory, storage, and other components.

Other new products Apple is working on inlude a new version of the Mac mini, running on either an M2 or an M2 Pro chip; new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, with a choice of M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, and (possibly) a new iMac Pro with Apple silicon. Finally, Apple is also working on successors of its Studio Display and Pro Display XDR.

Launch timing on these products may be very different, though. The new MacBook Pro laptops should arrive "early next year." There's no word on when the new Mac Pro, Mac mini, or iMac will arrive, although it sounds like they should become available sometime in 2023. As for the new standalone displays, they're likely to launch alongside the Macs that they're best matched with.

Save $100: As of Sept. 28, the 24-inch Apple iMac (M1 chip, 8-core GPU, 256GB) is back at its all-time low of $1,349.99. The 7% discount will automatically apply during checkout.

Looking for that perfect family desktop computer that offers a little more vibrant personality? Bearing the Mashable Choice mark of approval, the 24-inch Apple iMac turned heads with its 2021 release. And it requires attention again with the return of its best discount.

The M1-powered Apple iMac is back on sale for $1,349.99 at Amazon, which matches its previous all-time low price. The $100 discount is automatically applied once you add it to your cart and complete checkout. And as of now, the discount applies to four of the color options including purple, yellow, orange, and pink.

One of the main benefits of the iMac over any MacBook is you get the full power of Apple's M1 chip with a larger 24-inch screen with a stunning 4.5K Retina display. That offers over a billion colors with 11.3 million pixels and up to 500 nits of brightness for clearer images. That makes it a great choice if you spend a lot of time editing photos or want a better viewing experience for streaming movies.

And the iMac can keep up with more than just watching movies. The M1 chip delivers high performance along with the 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, and 8GB of RAM. You also get 256GB of internal SSD storage plus a 1080p FaceTime HD camera and three studio-quality mics for better video calls. And even though it's a desktop, the iMac is still thin and compact at just 11.5mm and under 10 pounds.

We've all been there: You need a new monitor, and the curved ones look really cool, but do you really need that curve? Isn't it better to just get a flat one? You sit there in front of your (old) monitor, with 20 browser tabs open, unable to make the decision between flat or curved display.

Corsair's got a solution for such (admittedly completely fabricated) troubles. The company's new monitor has a name that's hard to remember — Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 — so we'll just call it "the monitor that bends" (via The Verge).

The Corsair Xeneon Flex is bent manually. Which could be annoying or satisfying, depending on the kind of person you are. Credit: Corsair

The 45-inch monitor uses an LG Display-manufactured, W-OLED display that doesn't mind bending. The fun (or possibly annoying) part is that you do the bending manually, with your hands. It could be a cool party trick, and it probably reduces costs (as there's no need for a motor and a bending mechanism), so we'll take it.

In terms of specs, the Xeneon Flex has a 3,440 x 1,440 pixel resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nit peak brightness, 1,350,000:1 contrast ratio, and a super quick 0.01ms pixel on/off time. As any gaming-oriented monitor should be, it's compatible with both the NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium standards.

The only problem with the Xeneon Flex is that it's not yet quite something you can buy. It will be demonstrated at Gamescom 2022, which kicked off yesterday and ends on Aug. 28. Then, Corsair will share final specifications and details on availability "later in 2022."

For creative professionals, the elusive state of flow involves a special alchemy. It requires concentration and dedication, of course — creatives often spend hours deep in the throughs of the artistic process, tweaking and tuning until the final product is perfect.

But flow is about more than just a mental state. It involves having the right tools on hand. Any artist who works in a digital medium knows the importance of powerful technology to underpin their creative vision.

Maintaining flow is hard enough even without lag time or other snafus caused by outdated tech. After all, flow is delicate — it can be easily interrupted by, say, halting video playback or an image that refuses to render properly. An application crash is tantamount to utter derailment.

If you’re a creative professional struggling with an old or inadequate tech setup, it’s time to consider an upgrade. NVIDIA Studio, a hardware and software platform that can help improve the performance of creative applications, may be exactly the tool you need to take your flow to the next level.

Credit: NVIDIA

Here’s a breakdown of the features of NVIDIA Studio, including how its highly advanced GPUs in PCSpecialist’s NVIDIA Studio PCs help you get any job done more efficiently.

Why does a top-notch tech stack matter for creatives?

Every creative is familiar with the sinking feeling of a fast-approaching deadline while staring powerlessly at a “pinwheel of death.” If you’re working on an older device, your computer or laptop may not be able to handle the high-bandwidth demands of creative work like 8K video editing, animations or simulations, or designing for augmented or virtual reality (AR/VR).

There are a number of reasons why you might find yourself in such a bind. An ill-equipped or antiquated graphics processing unit (GPU), for instance, could be a major culprit. GPUs take on the heavy lifting of many creative tasks, and a robust one is required for many of today’s most innovative disciplines like video editing or game design.

Looking for a device branded with the RTX Studio badge is one way to ensure you’re investing in technology that’s advanced enough to serve all your creative needs. This badge is awarded to PCs that meet a carefully curated set of specifications for hardware and software. The components have been thoroughly tested to ensure they’re sufficiently compatible with top creative applications, workflows, and tasks.

By opting for a GeForce RTX Studio-branded product, creators can easily identify the devices guaranteed to provide the best out-of-box experience — so you can get back to the creative work that drives you as quickly as possible.

RTX GPU tech specs and considerations

The GPU has a major impact on the performance of a device when it comes to bandwidth-heavy tasks like playing or designing video games, using artificial intelligence or machine learning (AI/ML) in creative applications, or churning out high-quality content that requires a lot of memory. The GPU is largely responsible for determining rendering speed, which means it’s an especially important consideration for professionals who work with complex simulations, animations, etc.

The GeForce RTX 30-series GPU offers a number of features to make your creative flow as interruption-free as possible — at least from a technical perspective. The Ray Tracing Core (RT Core), for example, assists with tasks like 3D modelling by enabling incredibly detailed scenes complete with realistic shadows, reflections, and lighting effects.

Credit: NVIDIA

AI also plays a huge part in making the creative process smoother. It helps reduce the time you need to spend on repetitive, mundane tasks — denoising 3D applications, tracking objects, color matching, tagging faces in photos or videos, etc. NVIDIA’s Tensor Core is a handy hardware component that accelerates such AI functions. With built-in AI-assist features, you can automate common workflows, saving valuable time and effort in the process.

NVIDIA’s impressive GPUs also feature the NVDEC/NVENC encoder/decoder, which is particularly vital for video projects, helping you edit up to 8K video faster and more seamlessly.

Finally, NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30-series GPUs include Computer Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), a parallel computing platform that ensures the GPU has the raw compute power necessary for peak performance. For creatives, this means faster and less tedious designing, editing, and ultimately delivery of assets — i.e., less-stressful deadlines.

NVIDIA also works directly with third-party software manufacturers to ensure the hardware detailed above works in tandem with the software that most creators rely upon. What’s more, AI aids in everything from image resizing and optimizing to video reframing and 3D workload management.

Get the absolute most out of your everyday creative applications such as:

• Adobe Lightroom: AI-fueled features in NVIDIA Studio speed up render time, allowing for much faster photo enhancements, even when you’re working with a large batch of images. AI also helps create “super resolution,” which ensures ultra-high image quality complete with clean edges, even in very large photos.

• Adobe Photoshop: With “neural filters,” another AI feature, complex adjustments to images that used to take hours are now possible in mere seconds. You can also create incredible portraits with intuitive features like a slider that allows for easy editing of facial characteristics.

• Adobe Premiere Pro: Easily reframe content for vertical video or automatically detect scenes that need to be cut, clipped, or tagged. With the NVENC/NVDEC encoding and decoding engines, you’ll experience accelerated encoding and timeline performance.

• Blender: The Cycles or CyclesX renderer leverages the RTX GPU’s features to make 3D workloads more efficient. Create and adjust your designs with minimal lag, accelerate final frame rendering, and get real-time feedback on how tweaks to your model or scene will impact final outputs — no test renders necessary.

• Davinci Resolve: Experiment with GPU-accelerated colour grading, video editing, and color scopes. The built-in encoder and decoder accelerate video transcoding, while RTX-accelerated AI allows for easy facial recognition. What’s more, you can automatically tag clips, track effects, and create a seamless video super-resolution.

• Unity: NVIDIA RTX GPUs enable features including ray-traced shadows, reflections, and more. Improve the graphical fidelity and complexity of your game designs, and even speed up your scene-design process.

The list goes on: Whether you’re looking to create hyper-realistic 3D models, design VR video games, or edit complicated 8K video projects, NVIDIA Studio provides seamless integration with apps like Autodesk, Maya, 3DS Max, Octane, Cinema 4D, Adobe Substance, Adobe Media Encoder, Keyshot, Unreal Engine 4 and 5 — and many, many more.

Performance meets reliability and stability

Robust and reliable hardware and software is not only a matter of convenience, but also a way to fine-tune your creative flow. You can say goodbye to the dreaded pinwheel of death for good — and maybe even impress your clients by meeting deadlines ahead of schedule.

With an incorporated RTX GPU, a stack of specialized software development kits (SDKs), and dedicated studio drivers, NVIDIA Studio is any artistic professional’s trusty sidekick. You provide the creative brainpower, and Studio provides all the technical firepower to bring even the most fantastical of ideas to life.

When Samsung first announced the Odyssey Ark, back in January 2022, it focused on the fact that this gaming monitor can be flipped to the side and used in a vertical position.

But the Odyssey Ark is not as odd as it initially seemed – though it certainly is grandiose.

On Monday, Samsung released all of the details about the Ark and put the monitor up for pre-order for the price of $3,499. For the price, you get a 55-inch, Mini Led monitor with a 3,840 x 2,160 pixel resolution. Specs include a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, a 1ms response time, and support for FreeSync Premium Pro and HDR 10+.

In Cockpit Mode, the Odyssey Ark instills awe and, frankly, fear into the eye of the beholder. Credit: Samsung

Yes, this is a gaming monitor through and through, but what makes it different is the size: Samsung says it's the first 55-inch monitor with a 1000R curvature, which is nerd speak for very curvy.

This monstrous size allowed Samsung to do some cool things. If you pivot the monitor vertically into Cockpit Mode (as Samsung calls it), it can display three virtual displays on top of each other. In horizontal mode, you get up to four virtual displays, so you can think of this thing as a multi-monitor setup without all the bezels and the extra cables. All of this is controlled with the Ark Dial, a special rotary controller that sits on your table and has its own little solar panel for charging. Yes, Samsung has taken this device to the extreme.

Yes, you'll need a bigger table. Credit: Samsung

The monitor is massive but it potentially saves space by eliminating the need for extra speakers, as it boasts 2.2.2-channel, Dolby Atmos-supporting sound with a 60Wh output. The only thing that sounds a bit lacking is the list of ports: besides the LAN port, the Ark only includes HDMI ports, though you do get four of them.

Samsung Odyssey Ark can be pre-ordered now from Samsung's website for $3,499.99.

The Formula One Heineken Australian Grand Prix took place in April, and GIGABYTE showed up in full force, partnering up with top modders TAGMods to create some spectacular PC builds as a part of their #BuildWithAORUS campaign. Apple is rumored to be launching a few desktop lines and new models this year and, with that, support for some of the older computers has got to go. Is your Mac about to become obsolete? Or does Apple still consider it to be "vintage?" What does any of this mean?! What about your old iPhone that's barely hanging on.

Fret not! Mashable will help break it all down for you and let you know if you should start thinking about upgrading your Mac soon.

Obsolete desktop Macs

When a Mac becomes obsolete, that's the end of the road for that particular Apple product. Apple typically supports products for a minimum of five years from when it was last distributed by the company. Parts, if they are available, can also be obtained by Apple for up to seven years as required by law.

However, after that seven-year period, your Mac is totally on its own. Apple will no longer service it or provide parts for that product.

Now, note, it's not more than 7 years since you bought it. Apple products are obsolete if it's been more than 7 years since Apple stopped officially selling them. So, even your old Mac probably has a pretty healthy lifespan if you bought it fairly close to launch, as Apple will likely continue selling the model for at least a few years after its release date.

But, still, maybe you have an obsolete Mac. Here are some of the desktop models that have recently been put out to pasture.

• iMacs released in late 2012 and earlier

• Mac Minis released in late 2012 and earlier

• Mac Pros released in mid-2010 and earlier

Apple also lists extremely old lines like the Power Mac, eMac, and even the original Apple computer as obsolete. It should go without saying that these products are no longer supported by the company.

Vintage desktop Macs

If your Mac isn't on that list, don't celebrate just yet. You might have what Apple calls a "vintage" Mac. Apple products are considered vintage if they fall between that five and seven year stretch between now and when Apple stopped selling them.

This means that these Macs are on their way to being obsolete so perhaps start saving up for a new one.

• iMac (21.5-inch, Early 2013)

• iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)

• iMac (27-inch, Late 2013)

• iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014)

• iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)

• iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Mid 2015)

• Mac Pro (Mid 2012)

It can be sad (especially for your wallet) to see your trusty Mac computer become obsolete. Apple discontinues these products because, according to the company, its technologically become out-of-date hardware-wise. And, honestly, since the M1-powered Macs were released, it's true. Apple's own M1 chip is lightyears ahead of these old Intel-powered Macs in speed and processing power.

If you see your Mac on this list and are looking for a new, affordable desktop computer, I highly recommend the Mac Mini M1.

SAVE $129.01: Normally $699, Amazon has the 2020 Apple Mac mini (M1, 256GB) on sale for only $569.99 as of April 14. That's an 18% discount and its lowest price to date.

Apple's new Mac Studio is an absolute beast, but with a starting price of $1,999 to $3,999 (depending on the processing chip you want), it's clearly designed for an elite crowd. For the average user in search of a powerful-but-not-too-pricey desktop, 2020's compact, M1-equipped Mac mini remains the best choice.

In fact, it's an especially good choice right now: As of April 14, Amazon had the 256GB base model on sale for just $569.99. (Note the $99.01 extra savings coupon that gets applied at checkout.) This is easily its best price to date, shaving 18% off its $699 MSRP and beating its previous all-time low by about $60, per the price-tracking site camelcamelcamel.

For comparison's sake, this exact same model was listed for $669 (or $30 off) at Walmart and B&H Photo the last time we checked, while Best Buy still had it stuck at full price.

A winner of our coveted Mashable's Choice Award, this Mac mini offers three times faster performance and six times better graphics performance than its predecessor (an Intel-powered model from 2018) — it should be able to handle video games and music production with ease. Apple's also equipped it with an "advanced thermal design" that makes sure it runs cool and quiet.

To top it all off, the Mac mini gets you a pair of zippy Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports and USB-A ports for connecting other devices. It can support up to two displays at once, including something as beefy as Apple’s Pro Display XDR with full 6K resolution, so don't hold back if you're someone who prefers working on a dual monitor setup.

Per Woot's listing, it also ships with a power cord and a "generic USB wired mouse and keyboard" — they're probably no Magic Mouse or Keyboard, but they'll work just fine.

As a refresher, Apple technically classifies this guy as an "obsolete" machine and no longer provides hardware services for it. (Third-party providers can't order replacement parts, either.) Still, this is a ridiculously good deal if you just need a simple computer for surfing the web and creating/editing documents — especially in light of the fact that it originally sold for $1,299. When's the last time you saw any Apple product listed for 86% off?

TL;DR: As of March 25, a refurbished 21.5-inch Apple iMac from 2012 is available at Woot for only $174.99.

A $175 Apple iMac? In this economy? It's more likely than you think.

OK, so it's not exactly the latest and greatest machine available: We're talking about a refurbished, 21.5-inch iMac from 2012 that's technically "obsolete" (meaning Apple has discontinued hardware service and third-party providers can't order parts for repairs). But if you need a basic desktop for short-term use or light tasks like browsing and word processing, Woot has it listed for only $174.99 as of March 24 — that's an incredible price considering it was originally sold for $1,299.

This particular iMac comes equipped with a 2.7-GHz Intel Core i5 processor, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M graphics card, 8GB of RAM, and a whopping 1TB of storage. The LED-backlit 16:9 widescreen IPS display features a 1920x1080 resolution and a built-in FaceTime HD camera, which won't be anything special but should do the job for quick video calls. Connectivity-wise, you're getting four USB 3.0 ports and two Thunderbolt ports.

Woot has this deal scheduled for the next four days or until it's sold out, so hop to it.

Apple launched a fancy, new Mac Studio desktop computer and Studio Display yesterday, but the company also launched a couple of new accessories to match the new devices.

Apple's sleek Magic Mouse is now available in a black-silver combo, together with the Magic Trackpad and Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keyboard, which are now also available in a similar black-silver combination.

It's worth noting that the Mac Studio isn't available in black, only silver. But the new Studio Display has black bezels (and a silver stand) so...we guess you have to like both silver and black to match all these together?

Finally, black accessories to match your new Mac Studio, which isn't available in black. Credit: Apple

Functionally, these devices seem to be the same as the old, white versions. You could buy some black/silver accessories together with the Mac Pro, but they weren't available on their own until now.

Unfortunately, this also means that the Magic Mouse still has a USB-C charging port at the bottom, meaning you cannot use the mouse while charging it.

Hello, bottom charger. We still don't like you. Credit: Apple

Granted, this doesn't happen very often — Apple says the battery lasts for about a month between charges — but it's still a clumsy design decision that feels very un-Apple like.

The prices for the trio are as follows: $99 for the Magic Mouse, $149 for the Magic Trackpad, and $199 for the Magic Keyboard. Yes, they all cost $20 more than the white versions. You can order them all now from Apple Store.

Apple has a new desktop computer in its lineup, the Mac Studio. The company also launched the matching Studio Display, a 27-inch monitor aimed at professionals.

Launched at Apple's "Peek Performance" event on March 8, the Mac Studio is powered by Apple's new M1 Ultra chip, which is essentially two M1 Max chips rolled into one. With 114 billion transistors and support for up to 128GB of unified RAM, it's Apple's most powerful chip by far. Apple says that a Mac Studio with an M1 Ultra is up to 90% faster than a Mac Pro with a 16-core Intel Xeon chip, and up 3.8x time faster than the fastest, 27-inch iMac with a 10-core processor. The Mac Studio can also be configured with an M1 Max chip.

Apple's most powerful silicon ever. Credit: Apple

In terms of design, the Mac Studio is essentially a taller Mac mini, which doesn't sound like something aimed for heavy-duty tasks, but Apple says it's put in a lot of work to make this thing quiet and cool, including 4,000 perforations on the back and bottom of the Studio's enclosure, and a system of double-sided blowers, pushing air over the Studio's inner components.

Another important aspect of the Mac Studio is connectivity. On the back, it has four Thunderbolt 4 ports, a 10GB Ethernet port, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 are built-in, too. On the front, there are two additional USB-C ports, and there's also an SD card slot — something photographers will definitely appreciate.

That's a lot of pixels. Credit: Apple

The Mac Studio supports up to four Apple XDR displays as well as a 4K TV. Unlike the limited capabilities of the M1 Mac mini, it'll be hard to find anyone who thinks this computer is lacking.

As for the Studio Display, it's an all-aluminum 27-inch display with a 5K resolution, 600 nits of brightness, and support for 1 billion colors.

It has an A13 chip inside. Credit: Apple

The most interesting trait of the Studio Display is that it actually has an A13 chip that gives it several cool features: Center Stage for the built-in 8-megapixel camera and Spatial Audio, as well as Dolby Atmos support for its six built-in speakers.

The Studio Display has four USB-C ports, one of which is a Thunderbolt port that can deliver 96W of power – enough to power a MacBook Pro. The Studio Display can be tilted back 30 degrees with the standard stand, but you can also get it with a more advanced stand that allows for vertical adjustments as well as pivoting.

The Mac Studio starts at $1,999 with the M1 Max chip, and $3,999 with the M1 Ultra chip.

The Apple Studio Display starts at $1,599.

Both devices can be pre-ordered today, with with availability starting on March 18.

Save $90: Yes, you can create a solid PC gaming setup on a budget. Start with the Samsung Odyssey G3 Series gaming monitor. As of March 3, it's $199.99 at Amazon, which is 31% off its original price.

A nice PC gaming rig shouldn't be a money pit. Whether you buy a desktop or laptop for gaming, there are plenty of affordable options that don't sacrifice too much performance. The same goes for gaming monitors — like this Samsung Odyssey 27-inch G3 Series, which is on sale for $199.99 at Amazon.

Just because this monitor is less than $200 doesn't mean it skimps on important features. It boasts a 144Hz refresh rate, essential for preventing lag and motion blur during action-heavy games. Gameplay flows even more seamlessly with AMD FreeSync Premium adaptive technology, which helps reduce screen tearing and stuttering. And controller inputs feel extra responsive with a fast one-millisecond response time, which comes in handy while you're trying to stay alive in Elden Ring.

Its 1080p resolution might not look as stunning as a 4K monitor, but the Samsung Odyssey G3 still offers enough for most gamers. And your eyes will thank you after long gaming sessions with the Eye Saver Mode, which minimizes blue light and eliminates flickering.

SAVE $129.01: Amazon has the 2020 Mac mini (M1, 256GB) on sale for just $569.99 as of March 1. At 18% off its $699 MSRP, this is easily its lowest price yet.

There's been buzz about a new, redesigned Mac mini for over half a year now, and if we had to make an educated guess, it's probably finally launching during Apple's rumored March event. (Maybe. Allegedly. Hopefully?)

Either way, any deal-hunters out there shouldn't wait around to buy it. That's because the 2020 Mac mini with the original M1 chip, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage just hit a new record-low price on Amazon.

Normally $699, the compact desktop computer is on sale there for just $569.99 as of March 1 thanks to a coupon applied at checkout. That's its best price to date by a long shot, saving you a total of $129.01. (It's actually never dipped below $639 before this, according to data on the price-tracking site camelcamelcamel.)

A winner of our coveted Mashable's Choice Award, this Mac mini "is the most powerful computer you'll find at this price point," writes tech reporter Matt Binder. (Check out his full review.) It can tackle intense tasks like gaming and video-editing without breaking a sweat, but never gets too hot or obnoxiously loud. Plus, there are plenty of ports for the monitor of your choice (sold separately).

Amazon notes that its deal is "valid for a limited time only," so grab your M1 Mac mini on sale while you still can.

TL;DR: As of Feb. 27, you can get a refurbished Apple Mac mini Core i5 for $459.99 instead of $699 — that's 34% off.

If you need a computer that can stand up to your new(ish) work from home lifestyle, you could be looking for a gadget to work as hard as you do, especially if your nine-to-five has morphed into more of a nine-to-nine. But you might not want to spend a fortune on something new when you could save on buying a like-new refurbished model instead.

Right now, you can score a refurbished Mac Mini Core i5 on sale for just $459.99, down from $699. That’s 34% in savings on a new-to-you desktop computer.

The Mac Mini is the smallest Mac desktop computer, taking up less area than an iPad Pro, and is also a more affordable alternative to the all-in-one iMac desktop. In order to get it set up, you’ll need your own display, mouse, and keyboard.

This model is equipped with a 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor, which isn’t the most advanced processor on the market, but still exhibits solid speed and performance. It packs 8GB of RAM and a generous hard drive with 1TB of storage. That’s plenty of space for all of your work PDFs and spreadsheets to live happily. There’s also a 128GB Fusion Drive, which is a hybrid drive combining a hard drive and flash storage in a single volume for improved performance and storage capability.

While this Mac Mini hails from 2014, it’s been refurbished to work like new. It may have a few scratches or dings on the body, but don’t judge a book by its cover. The Mac Mini is still a workhorse.

Regularly $699, you can grab this refurbished Mac Mini Core i5 in silver for only $459.99 for a limited time.

Prices subject to change.

SAVE $100: As of Feb. 16, the green entry-level configuration of last year's 24-inch Apple iMac (7-Core GPU, 256GB) is on sale at Amazon for $1,199 (original price: $1,299). That's 8% off and its biggest discount to date.

Apple is rumored to be launching three new Macs in March, which makes now the perfect time for a steep sale on last year's model.

As of Feb. 16, Amazon had the entry-level 24-inch iMac (in green) marked down to only $1,199. It usually retails for $1,299, so you're saving exactly $100 — not too shabby.

This is actually the biggest discount we've ever seen on this particular desktop computer, which packs an 8‑core CPU, a 7‑core GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB of storage space. The only time it's been this cheap before was in mid-January, when the pink version hit the same all-time low price. (It's been sitting at $1,249 ever since.)

Tim Cook and company had better bring it with whatever Macs they have in the works: The 24-inch M1 model is a Mashable's Choice Award winner that managed to nab a spot on our list of the best gadgets of 2021. Former tech reporter Brenda Stolyar called it "the ideal at-home iMac" in her review, pointing to its "super-thin, sleek, and lightweight form factor," 1080p camera for video chats, bright 4.5K Retina display, and the convenient Touch ID feature built right into its matching Magic Keyboard. (Each unit comes with one of those and a Magic Mouse 2.)

"The 24-inch iMac is an excellent, compact machine that packs enough power to provide a super smooth experience," Stolyar wrote. "Plus, the pop of color alone will automatically boost your mood on even the roughest of days."

SAVE $149.01: Amazon has the silver, orange, pink, and green variants of last year's 24-inch Apple iMac (256GB, 8-core GPU) on sale for only $1,349.99 as of Jan. 28. That's about 10% off its $1,499 MSRP and its lowest price to date.

Amazon's dropped a ton of great deals on Apple products this month following a report that 2022 will be a banner year for the tech giant, but this one might be its best yet.

As of Jan. 28, the silver, orange, pink, and green variants of last year's mid-level iMac were on sale for just $1,349.99 thanks to some extra savings coupons that automatically trigger at checkout (see below for two examples). They usually retail for $1,499 apiece, which means this unprecedented deal is saving you a good $150 on a new desktop.

Not a fan of those colors? The blue and yellow versions were $50 off at the time of writing; the purple model was the only one that wasn't on sale the last time we checked.

Introduced in the spring of 2021, these colorful computers feature Apple's proprietary M1 chip, an 8-core GPU, an 8-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of built-in storage. (They're a good step up from the entry-level model, which swaps in a less powerful 7-core GPU and a less effective cooling system with one fewer fan.) Its 24-inch 4.5K Retina display is the real star of the show, though: It's got a P3 wide color gamut, 500 nits of brightness, three built-in studio-quality mics, and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera that's perfect for video calls — all wrapped up in a super slim and lightweight design.

Impressed? So was our tech team: This machine wound up nabbing a Mashable's Choice Award upon its release (peep the full review here) and later nabbed a spot on their best gadgets of 2021 list at the tail end of the year.

The tech standards for a modern workplace are constantly evolving. While the cloud has made storage concerns somewhat a thing of the past, the latest business software and operating systems demand better and more efficient hardware . While most business can be done using standard consumer PCs (and even tablets and smartphones these days), dedicated workstations provide the greatest security and convenience for any professional workplace.

On top of this, underperforming hardware causes a massive hit to productivity. Sitting around for minutes waiting for a spreadsheet (or 19th chrome tab) to load is not an effective use of company time, but is something that is all too common (and often unavoidable in the moment). The solution: Invest in good tech.

Here’s why the latest business tech solutions from global hardware giant MSI, the PRO DP130 PC and Modern MD271QP Monitor, are perfect for your office or home office.

PRO DP130

All of these hardware choices are easily upgraded, with the graphics card, RAM, M.2 SSD, and 3.5” HDD slots accessed by disassembling the side covers.

SAVE $50: Apple's entry-level 24-inch iMac comes with an M1 processor, an 8-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and 256GB of storage. It typically sells for $1,299, but as of Jan. 5, Amazon has the silver version on sale for just $1,249. That's its best price to date.

From three new wearables to a major MacBook Air redesign, updated iPhones, a revamped iPad Pro, and maybe even a VR headset, Apple's 2022 product lineup is rumored to be absolutely stacked. (That's according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who dedicated the latest edition of his Power On newsletter to Tim Cook's upcoming releases.)

That being said, it's hard not to be stuck in 2021 at the moment: Amazon just put a variant of last year's excellent entry-level iMac on sale for its lowest price yet.

The silver version of the 24-inch desktop featuring an M1 processor, an 8-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and 256GB of storage usually sells for $1,299, but as of Jan. 5, it's yours for just $1,249 — a $50 discount that was previously exclusive to its blue and pink peers.

Not to dwell on the past, but the 24-inch iMac was one of Mashable's top gadgets of last year. That powerful M1 chip means it can do double duty as both a "super-smooth workstation" and an entertainment system, per our tech team, though it's still sleek and lightweight enough to be moved with ease. (Got multiple people working or learning from home nowadays? Being able to carry it around from room to room is a huge plus.)

"Throw in a 1080p camera for all those video chats, a 4.5K Retina display for binging Netflix, Touch ID built into the Magic Keyboard to easily switch between user profiles and input passwords, to name a few," wrote former Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar, "and you've got yourself the ideal at-home iMac." (Click here to read her full review.)

SAVE $100: The 24-inch Apple iMac with 256GB of storage and an 8-Core GPU usually retails for $1,499, but you could grab one for just $1,399 at Amazon and B&H Photo as of Dec. 14. (Pro tip: Buy from the latter for a bigger color selection and speedier shipping.)

With its rainbow of color options and that silky smooth M1 chip, Apple's latest 24-inch iMac is officially one of the best gadgets of 2021. Unofficially, it's also one of the most stubborn gadgets of the year (as far as deals go, at least), having barely budged from its retail price since debuting in May.

That finally changed this week thanks to Amazon and B&H Photo (h/t MacRumors). Both retailers have treated the 256GB model with an 8-Core GPU to a random $100 discount, which brings its price down to a new all-time low of $1,399. (Prior to Dec. 14, it had never been cheaper than $1,449.99.)

A nod to the iMac G3s that sat in many a '90s living room, this new desktop is a welcome return to form for the family computer. Tim Cook's decision to ditch an Intel processor for Apple-made silicon keeps it light and sleek, and its 1080p FaceTime camera makes for crystal-clear video calls. Plus, you can switch swiftly between different user profiles using the Touch ID tool built into its included Magic Keyboard.

To quote former Mashable tech reporter Brenda Stolyar, all of these features combine forces to create "the ideal at-home iMac."

"While I can't speak on behalf of creatives who push their iMacs beyond its limits for graphic design or editing photos and videos, I can speak for the regular people out there who just need a snappy iMac for emails, web browsing, and messaging through the day, and entertainment at night," Stolyar wrote in her review (which you can read here). "If you've been holding off on upgrading your desktop or feel hesitant to drop over $1,000 on this new machine, I can assure you it's worth the investment."

A bit of fine print: Amazon only had the silver variant in stock at the time of writing, and its delivery range was hovering between Jan. 8 and 11 (i.e., you'll have to write an IOU if you're trying to gift it this Christmas). Things are looking slightly less dire over at B&H, which had the silver, yellow, and orange models up for grabs at $1,399 the last time we checked; better yet, you could get one in as soon as two days with free expedited shipping. Et tu, Jeffrey Bezos?

SAVE $300: The 2020 Apple iMac is a Cyber Monday deal of the day at Amazon, dropping the price down to $799 from $1,099. That's $80 cheaper than we saw it on Black Friday.

If you thought Apple Black Friday deals were good, Cyber Monday is even better. On Black Friday, the 2020 Apple iMac with 21.5-inch, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD configurations was $879. As a Cyber Monday deal of the day at Amazon, the iMac is even cheaper at $799. That's $300 off its list price and $80 cheaper than Black Friday.

This 21.5-inch iMac us a 1920 x 1080 resolution and run a seventh-generation dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. It has an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 card and it features two USB-C ports, four USB-A ports, a headphone jack, Ethernet connector, and SDXC card slot.

This 2020 model is arguably not as cute as the colorful 2021 releases, but it's a solid workhorse, and it comes with a Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2, and a polishing cloth.

SAVE $500: Best Buy has a 21.5-inch Apple iMac (Intel Core i5, 256GB SSD) for just $999 for Black Friday on Nov. 26. That's 33% off its suggested retail price of $1,499.

Those colorful new 24-inch iMacs have been so gosh darn stubborn. They've hardly gone on sale at all since they came out this spring, much less been featured in any retailer's Black Friday sales.

We'll be on the lookout in case that changes, but in the meantime, anyone who's in the market for a new desktop should absolutely snap up this 21.5-inch iMac with a Retina 4K display from early 2019. As of Nov. 26, Best Buy still has it marked down to $999 (normally $1,499) as part of its Black Friday and throws in six free months of both Apple Music and Apple News+ just for kicks. (Those are for new subscribers only, FYI.)

That $500 discount is eons better than any deal other stores are offering on the same configuration (with 256GB of storage and a 3.0GHz, eighth-gen six-core Intel Core i5 processor): Walmart had an open-box model listed for $1,284.95 at the time of writing, while Adorama were selling used ones for $1,299. Meanwhile, Amazon and B&H Photo are probably punching the air right now because their supplies are completely sold out.

FWIW, this iMac's slightly less powerful base model with a quad-core Intel Core i3 processor was also listed for $999 at Best Buy the last time we checked (normally $1,299). And, there's even more Black Friday Apple deals live now. Like a iPhone 12 Mini (64GB) at AT&T for just $314.99 (half off the original price) or a MacBook Pro (Intel Core i5, 512GB) that's $1,299.99 ($500 off).

The star of the show here is very obviously this iMac's stunning Retina 4K display, which brings support for a billion colors (casual), but the AMD Radeon Pro 560X graphics card under its hood should also be a big draw for anyone who's into video editing or game design. Apple rounds out its spec sheet with a FaceTime HD camera, 8GB of RAM, and two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, and throws in a Magic Mouse 2 and a Magic Keyboard to get you off and running.

Save $103: Any new gaming PC you buy on Black Friday isn't complete without a proper monitor. As of Nov. 16, the LG Ultragear 27-inch GP850-B QHD gaming monitor is at a new low price of $396.99 at Amazon after a 21% discount.

Black Friday is always clutch when it comes to gaming deals, especially if you're a PC gamer. You get plenty of chances to upgrade your gaming rig with the latest peripherals, especially if you're on the lookout for a deal on a gaming monitor.

At the time of writing, the new LG 27-inch GP850-B Nano IPS QHD gaming monitor was on sale for $396.99 at Amazon. That's $103 off a 2021 model — congrats to your holiday wish list.

The LG 27GP850-B Ultragear monitor has the specs to prove it's worthy of your gaming PC. It starts with the Nano IPS QHD display that offers a 2560x1440 resolution. This allows for a speedy one-millisecond response time. It's also able to support vivid color and contrast due to advanced VESA DisplayHDR 400 technology.

Most importantly for serious gamers, it boasts a 165Hz refresh rate for ultra-smooth gameplay that's necessary for any fast-paced game such as Call of Duty: Vanguard. It's also compatible with both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSynce Premium so that any PC puts out images with less screen tearing and stuttering.

And when it comes to the exterior, the ergonomic design allows you to raise, lower, and pivot the display in multiple ways so you'll enjoy a comfortable gaming experience.

Little word of advice: Hang onto your Apple devices.

A working Apple-1 computer in a rare wooden case was sold at auction on Tuesday by John Moran Auctioneers, going for a cool $500,000. The original owner bought it from his professor in 1977 for a mere $650.

The first ever Apple-1 was created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in Jobs' parents' hallowed garage, following the founding of the company in 1976. The Apple-1 put the company on the map as the first personal computer that came with a fully assembled motherboard. Only 200 of these computers were handcrafted by the pair and their skeleton crew.

This particular Apple-1 is encased in rare Hawaiian Koa wood, one of only six known devices with this case in the world, according to the auction house.

When the Apple-1s were first assembled by Wozniak and Jobs they were sold for $666.66 each and came without a monitor, keyboard, or casing — these were added in 1977. Paul Terrell, owner of The Byte Shop in Mountain View, California, famously bought 50 of the computers, and added the Koa case to several of them to make them more appealing to customers.

The Apple-1 sold at auction has only had two owners. It was originally purchased by an electronics professor at Chaffey College, a public community college in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He then sold it in 1977 to his student who was taking his programming course — because of course, the professor was upgrading to the next model.

"He was excited to buy the Apple-II and sold me this for about $650," reads a quote published by the auction house from the anonymous owner. "Of course, nobody knew it would become a collector's item."

The auction house shared a look inside the computer ahead of the sale.

"This fascinating piece of technological history is in mint condition, featuring many period-correct and original parts (motherboard, monitor, keyboard, two cassette tapes, three wires, and a period xerox-copy of the original owner's manual) and it is in working order!" reads a description from John Moran Auctioneers.

The device was inspected, restored, and approved as authentic by an expert recruited by the auction house.

It's not the highest grossing sale of an Apple-1 computer — that honour goes to a device that went for just shy of a million bucks in 2014, selling for $905,000 at a Bonhams auction in New York.

SAVE $590: Until Nov. 30, the Apple iMac MHK23LL/A (refurbished) is on sale for $709.99 on Woot, saving you $590 on list price. If you've been looking for an Apple iMac at a great price, this could be the deal for you.

Yes, we're talking about Woot again. The online retailer is one of the best spots to find deals on refurbished items from top brands like Apple, so it's only natural that we're shining a light on it. Get over it, guys.

The latest refurbished deal to make an impression is on the Apple iMac MHK23LL/A. This stylish iMac is on sale for just $709.99 on Woot, saving you $590 on list price. That's a significant discount, but there's more to this deal. You can't really find this version of the iMac anywhere online, so this could be your last chance to pick it up at a reduced rate. The deal is live until Nov. 30.

So what's inside this Apple iMac? It offers reliable performance from the 8th Gen Intel Core i3 3.6GHz quad-core processor, with 8GB DDR4 memory for multitasking power, and a 256GB PCIe solid state drive for a speedy and smooth experience. It also offers a 21.5-inch 4K Retina IPS LED-backlit display with AMD Radeon Pro 555X 2GB graphics. It's a seriously impressive desktop with the looks to match its performance.

Save $149: The big savings are back for this little computer. For a limited time, the 512GB Mac mini is just $749.99 at Amazon — a 17% markdown — thanks to a $100 discount and $49 coupon applied at checkout.

Unfortunately, the M1X-powered Mac mini has yet to make its anticipated fall appearance.

Fortunately, the current Mac mini is only a year old and still a pretty powerful little machine. Plus, it's returned to its lowest price ever, which we last saw over the summer. As of Nov. 3, you can grab the 512GB Mac mini for just $749.99 at Amazon with a $100 discount and $49 coupon applied automatically at checkout.

While we're all well aware that an M1X chip packs a serious punch (trust us, we know), we're also well aware that the Mac mini still does a pretty good job too — M1 power isn't nothing, people. It can support you through high-def video edits or livestreams in 1080p, all without the tell-tale fan whirring that indicates your Mac is putting in the work.

With this sale, the mini is $1250 less than the cheapest M1X MacBook Pro, making it one of the most affordable entry points to the M1 world.

With all that said, of course there's no such thing as the perfect computer. Since the RAM is built into this computer, once you buy the 8GB version, there's no upgrading later on, unless you want to buy an entirely new computer. But as Mashable reporter Matt Binder noted in his review, "Many people who've gone with that 8GB base model Mac Mini M1 say it doesn't run like any other computer they've used with only 8GB RAM." So, there's that.

As far as Black Friday deals go, Apple is notoriously a bit more, shall we say, stingy in their offerings, so it's refreshing to see a Mac at 17% off. Factor that in with ongoing supply chain shortages, and you might just decide the best time to get that new computer on your gift list is right now — after all, this sale is on for a limited time only.

Save $519: As of Oct. 28, this Apple iMac 21.5-inch computer (open box) is on sale for only $579.57 at Woot. That's 47% in savings on the original retail price.

It might seem like the only way to score a major deal on an Apple product is to buy refurbished. While there's nothing wrong with that (and you can certainly wind up with a near-mint condition gadget), some folks are just inherently skeptical of used products.

Sound like you? The best move is probably to buy an "open box" product.

This 21.5-inch iMac Computer from 2017 is labeled as an "open box" product and is only $579.57 at Woot (originally $1,099). "Open box" means — you guessed it — that the computer's box was opened previously. This could be because it was a display model, a photo sample, or a customer return — or just because it had damaged packaging. Other than that, it's still pretty much new.

The 2017 iMac, like most of Apple's all-in-one computers, is a powerhouse for productivity and performance. It features a 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz. Sure, it’s no M1 chip, but it’s certainly still powerful enough to handle work and play like a champ.

It’s also got 8GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive, with two Thunderbolt 3 ports, four USB 3 ports, and Bluetooth 4.2 for connectivity. Plus, if you’re skilled enough, the processor and memory are both removable and replaceable. So you could have this thing working like a 2021 model if you know what you're doing.

Other notable features include Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 and a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, a FaceTime HD camera, stereo speakers, and compatibility with the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse 2 (which originally shipped with the computer itself).

It's not every day you can take home an Apple iMac for under $600. And this deal won't last long. If you're in the market for a new computer — especially one that's a workhorse — you can't do much better than this "open box" deal.

Save $260: The Alienware 27-inch AW2720HF gaming monitor is on sale for $299.99 from Dell as of Oct. 26. This 46% discount marks the lowest price we've seen so far on this model. You'll also get free next-day delivery.

Early Black Friday deals are prime time for any gamer ready to upgrade their PC gaming rig. At this point, you could spend hours browsing deals at Amazon and Best Buy, but you'll save a lot of time if you just pick out this Alienware monitor instead.

Treat yourself to smooth gameplay with the Alienware 27-inch AW2720HF IPS gaming monitor, which is only $299.99 from Dell as of Oct. 26. Their $260 discount matches the lowest price we've seen so far on this popular model. And while Amazon offers the same price, Dell includes free next-day delivery, in case you're ready to try out Age of Empires IV this weekend.

The Alienware AW2720HF monitor is a good upgrade if you require more gaming speed. With IPS panel technology, it promises native refresh rates up to 240Hz — twice as fast as most monitors and gaming TVs. So while the 1080p resolution doesn't sound super impressive, the refresh rate and response times alone make this a good monitor option for most gamers.

It further reduces image distortion thanks to both AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, which works to better synchronize images with your graphics card. And since it uses an IPS panel, the display is able to better handle wide viewing angles.

Just two years old and refurbished to work good as new, this iMac is an awesome way to update your work setup at home, especially if you've been staring at a tiny MacBook screen for the past year and a half. It features a brilliant 21.5-inch 4K Retina IPS display, which will hopefully minimize eye fatigue at the end of a long work day.

It also features an 8th generation Intel Core i3 3.6GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and 256GB of SSD storage. That's not a ton of storage, but you'll have the ability to add more with the many connectivity options, including four USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, and beyond.

Sure, this computer may not be as fun as the colorful spectrum of 2021 iMacs, but it's a hefty workhorse that gets the job done. And it's built to last. If you're looking for something to keep up with your workload, the iMac is almost always recommended for power users.

Apple is going to have a very, very busy fall.

Besides launching new iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, and AirPods in the next couple of months — at least that's what the reports say — Apple also plans to launch a redesigned Mac mini.

This is according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who shared some of the expected specs for the device in his Power On newsletter on Sunday.

According to Gurman, the next Mac mini will have Apple's upcoming M1X processor — the same one that upcoming MacBooks are getting. It will also have more ports than the current model, as well as a different design.

The Mac mini was among the first Apple computers to come with Apple's in-house M1 chip. Like other M1 machines, it was praised for being fast and quiet, but it was a little low on ports (it only had two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, and a headphone jack), and it couldn't support more than 16GB of RAM. It also only let you connect two monitors, and even then you had to connect one via Thunderbolt and the other via HDMI. Hopefully these issues are resolved in the updated version this fall.

According to Gurman, the new Mac mini with the M1X processor also means that the model with an Intel processor, which Apple still has in its lineup, is going away.

It's unclear when, exactly, Apple plans to launch the new Mac mini. Gurman says "next several months," and MacRumors speculates that the company might hold another Apple silicon-focused event, just like it did last November.

When Apple launched its colorful, new 24-inch iMac in May, it added a nice little surprise to the 8-core GPU variants: a Magic Keyboard with built-in Touch ID. However, this keyboard was unavailable for purchase in any other way; to get it, you needed to buy the $1,499+ iMac.

Now, as MacRumors first noticed, this is no longer the case. You can now purchase a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for $149, as well as a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad for $179.

This is quite a price increase from regular, non-Touch ID variants of these keyboards, which retail for $99 and $129, but that's the Apple way.

You can get the new keyboard with or without the numeric keypad. Credit: apple

It's worth noting that these keyboards are only fully supported by Apple's M1 Macs, meaning the new 13-inch MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, 24-inch iMac, and the latest Mac mini. The keyboards will work with other computers, but the Touch ID button won't.

Touch ID, as seen on MacBooks, as well as older iPhones and iPads, is a convenient way to log into your system with a simple fingerprint scan. Having it on your standalone keyboard is, well, just a little more convenient.

The new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, as well as Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad are available for purchase now on Apple's site. Only in silver, though — if you want other colors, you'll still have to buy the new 24-inch iMac, which comes in blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple.

Samsung's Odyssey G9 monitor has more or less been the measuring stick for extra-large gaming displays since the company launched it early last year.

That device now has what seems to be a worthy successor: The Odyssey Neo G9.

Basic specs are the same: The new Odyssey Neo G9 is still a curved, 49-inch monitor with a 5,120 x 1,440 pixel resolution.

Design-wise, the Odyssey Neo G9's design is similar to its predecessor: Bold and futuristic. Credit: SAMSUNG

However, the new monitor is the first Samsung screen of this size to feature Quantum Mini LED technology — the same one used in Samsung's Neo QLED TVs. Thanks to this, the Odyssey Neo G9 has a 1,000,000:1 contrast radio, and a typical brightness of 420 cd/m2 with a peak brightness of 2,000 cd/m2. In real-life usage, this means deep, inky blacks with extremely bright HDR.

Other specs of note include a 240Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response rate, and a 178-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle. And yes, it's still very immersive, thanks to a 1000R curve — though this kind of extreme curvature will mostly appeal to gamers.

The Odyssey is probably the curviest monitor we've seen. Credit: SAMSUNG

On the connectivity front, the monitor has a single Display Port 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, two USB 3.0 connectors, and a headphone jack.

Unfortunately, this kind of power comes at a fairly high price: $2,499.99. For comparison, that's $800 more than the original G9's price at launch.

The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 will be available for pre-order on July 29, and it will ship globally on August 9.

You've probably heard about Apple's latest line of computers, the first powered by the company's own M1 chip.

Perhaps you've seen the news articles trying to explain why this is significant. You may have seen the positive reviews, heralding the new line released in November 2020 which includes Macbook Pros, Macbook Airs, and Mac Minis all powered by the M1. You've probably seen the latest addition to the M1 family, the new Apple iMacs which the company announced at its most recent event, too.

So are Apple's new M1 computers with the hype? Emphatically, yes. Especially the Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini is made for livestreamers

I'll be honest. If you were to tell me I'd end up buying an M1 in those first couple of months after they launched, I never would've believed you.

I understood that it was significant for Apple to ditch Intel and develop its own chip that powered its computers. And I read the reviews talking about what great machines the M1 computers are. Even still, I wasn't sold. And I certainly wasn't going to be the test dummy for the first generation of the brand new M1 chips.

Over the past couple of months, though, I've started to see the rave reviews coming in from consumers using the M1 Macs themselves. And most importantly, as someone who regularly livestreams, I heard the reviews from my fellow livestreamers, the types of users who would need to push these devices to their limits on a daily basis. And they were specifically doling out high praise to the new Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini M1 packs a lot of power into that classic Mac Mini design. Credit: matt binder / mashable

That's when I went all-in and purchased the Mac Mini M1. After a few weeks of using it, I can now join the chorus of livestreamers praising it.

If you're going live on YouTube, Twitch, or whatever your favorite platform is, the Mac Mini M1 is made for you. I doubt you will find a device this powerful, at this low of a price, that can seamlessly handle the very specific needs of livestreamers.

Putting it to the test

I put my new Mac Mini M1 through the wringer, or at least what my previous streaming computer — a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 Macbook Pro with 16GB RAM — would consider to be the wringer.

I have run hours-long livestreams through a livestreaming app called Ecamm Live, streaming to multiple different platforms at 1080p via a mirrorless Panasonic Lumix camera connected via an Elgato Cam Link. My previous streaming computer struggled to stream above 720p.

I've added a webcam as a second camera, recorded video and audio locally as separate media files while simultaneously streaming, streamed games via an Elgato HD60 S+ capture device, and added multiple live guests from different locations – all on the screen at the same time via Skype. My Mac Mini didn't make a peep. My MacBook Pro's internal fans would be audibly blasting on the stream at this point.

Not enough ports so you'll likely have to purchase a docking station. Credit: matt binder / mashable

Having multiple web browser tabs open to monitor the streams and live comments as it multicast to multiple platforms via Restream while also sharing a tab to screenshare with my viewers? Forget about it with my previous setup. The live video would start moving in slow motion as it tried to keep up with everything. My Mac Mini M1 handles it without breaking a sweat.

And I mean that, too. Along with being able to handle everything I threw at it and still outputting a smooth livestream, the Mac Mini has remained cool the entire time. This makes for a quiet computer, which is important to a lot of livestreamers. I use a $250 dynamic mic from Shure for my livestream and you could still sometimes catch the annoying hum of my Macbook Pro fans in the background trying to cool down the computer while I was streaming. This is no longer an issue.

(Also worth noting: Broadband speeds from your internet service provider play a huge role here too. If your upload speeds are low, your stream quality will suffer. And many factors are at play too such as how many other people are using the service at the time. For that reason, I'd recommend an internet plan that provides at a minimum of 10mbps if you're streaming in HD at 30fps. Higher quality video will require a plan with higher upload speeds.)

Which one is right for you?

The Mac Mini M1 base model, with 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM, starts at $699. I haven't used the 8GB version and, while I've heard good things, I don't think you should buy it if you're a livestreamer shopping around for a new setup. I highly recommend you go one model up and purchase the 16GB Mac Mini M1 at $899.

Here's why: Unified memory. The RAM isn't sitting in a memory slot — it's built into the M1 chip architecture itself. The plus is that the M1 computers are super fast. Many people who've gone with that 8GB base model Mac Mini M1 say it doesn't run like any other computer they've used with only 8GB RAM.

Streamers should take a good look at the Mac Mini M1. Credit: matt binder / mashable

However! The con here is that you can't upgrade the memory in your computer at a later date. Remember, it's built into the M1 architecture. So, if you went with 8GB Mac Mini and decided to go with 16GB later, you'd have to buy a whole new computer. For $200 extra bucks, I'd go with the Mac Mini M1 16GB model right off the bat and future proof your purchase so that it may handle all the latest apps and necessary livestreaming hardware for years to come.

The Mac Mini M1 with 16GB RAM will still be the most powerful computer you could buy at that price point. And, being that you're going with the Mac Mini — a desktop computer — you don't have to worry about internal storage. Just buy an external SSD to sit beside the computer on your desk. As a video creator, you know you shouldn't be editing off the internal storage space anyway.

The cons of the M1

The M1 is brand new. Apple still hasn't even rolled out the M1 in all of its current Mac lines yet. So, with anything new, there will be some cons.

For example, there may be third-party software and hardware you run into that doesn't run on the Mac Mini M1 yet. One of the most popular third-party hardware makers for livestreamers is Elgato. The company makes a number of devices that help streamers use their DSLR cameras as webcams and enable users to record gameplay from video game consoles to their computers. The company has provided a list of its products that do not yet work with the M1. I had to buy the HD60 S+, a higher-priced model in its line of capture devices, in order to use it with the Mac Mini because the cheaper models were incompatible.

While I haven't experienced any issues with OBS, the popular open-source software that most streamers use to go live, there have been M1 users who have voiced issues they've run into.

To test out streaming on my Mac Mini, I used Ecamm Live. The software is not only made for Mac, it's also the first (and only, as of publication) livestream application built to run natively on M1 Macs. Basically, apps built to run on Intel processors can be used on M1 Macs through an emulator called Rosetta 2, which comes with the latest macOS: Big Sur. This actually has made some of those apps run faster on an M1 Mac than on an Intel-based computer. Still, though, it's going through an extra process and can't compare to what an app created for the M1 can do. And thanks to Ecamm Live's new M1-native app, livestreaming on the Mac Mini is a great experience.

If you're a PC gamer, you'll still want to stick with PCs. We're still dealing with the Mac ecosystem here. That means slim pickings when it comes to games that run on Macs. And if you're thinking you can just load up Windows via Boot Camp, unfortunately, you can't do that on Macs powered by Apple's new M1 chip. Parallels, a virtual machine app that allows users to run Windows on Mac, just recently released a version compatible with M1. However, I have yet to try it and other than Parallels, I have not seen any other virtual machine options that work with M1 Macs.

However, you can still stream games that run on Mac as well as Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch games by utilizing game capture devices such as the previously mentioned Elgato HD60 S+.

Add to cart?

I've been livestreaming for years now. I worked at a live internet news show that utilized Mac Minis for streaming since the early 2010s. Mac Minis have always been popular in the space due to their price, power, and portability — even for a desktop computer. With that said, the Mac Mini M1 takes it to crazy new heights.

Livestreaming blew up during the pandemic as many people got into it as a hobby or even as a decent side income. The Mac Mini M1 gives those users the ability to run livestreams at the same level as setups that usually cost thousands and thousands of dollars but at an affordable price.

Save $103.99: The LG 32GN650-B 32-inch Ultragear QHD gaming monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate is down to just $296 at Amazon as of June 10.

Not every gamer buys into the hype of the new consoles. Plenty of them prefer the wide range of options available with an investment in a premium gaming laptop. But one drawback is few gaming laptops really wow you with high-end graphics on little 15-inch screens. So one way to fix that problem is an upgrade to a more sizable 32-inch gaming monitor.

One of the best options right now is the LG 32-inch 32GN650-B Ultragear QHD gaming monitor on sale for $296 at Amazon. Released earlier this year, its $130.99 discount makes this the best price ever on a brand new model just ahead of Prime Day.

The LG 32GN650-B monitor offers a host of specs that gamers will love. It all centers around a giant 32-inch QHD display that boasts a 2560 x 1440 resolution. All of that screen space provides a prime viewing experience for gaming as well as watching movies or working on various projects. It also features a VA panel, which offers greater contrasts and deeper blacks compared to monitors that use IPS or TN panels.

Besides size, the LG 32GN650-B also provides plenty of speed. It promises a maximum refresh rate of up to 165Hz, a 1ms response time, and AMD FreeSynce technology. That essentially means game controls feel extra responsive so you always have an edge in competitive games. And the high refresh rate and AMD FreeSync helps with more fluid motion handling so every game looks its absolute best every time.

You have a lot of options when it comes to gaming monitors, but as of this moment, few are quite as good as this one.

When Apple introduced its 27-inch iMac last year, I had a strong feeling the company was attempting to bring back the family computer. And this year, it looks like Apple actually delivered.

The new, colorful 24-inch iMac, which starts at $1,200 and begins shipping May 21, is a clear callback to the old-school, colorful iMac G3 — Apple's original family computer that sat in most people's living rooms throughout the late '90s and early 2000s. It acted as the central hub to the internet for all members of the household, both young and old.

Since then, the iMac has evolved into a machine that represents power and productivity, with a boring, all-white industrial design to match. You're more likely to see it tucked away in an office cubicle in corporate spaces than situated on a messy desk in someone's cozy living room.

But the new iMac finally breaks that pattern, moving back into the family room using color and a few other notable upgrades.

In addition to being offered in seven different colors, the 24-inch iMac now ditches Intel processors for Apple's own M1 chip, allowing for a super-thin, sleek, and lightweight form factor. Throw in a 1080p camera for all those video chats, a 4.5K Retina display for binging Netflix, Touch ID built into the Magic Keyboard to easily switch between user profiles and input passwords, to name a few, and you've got yourself the ideal at-home iMac.

The iMac is finally exciting again

When I was a kid, I'd always feel giddy the morning after my parents bought me a new toy — specifically because I already knew I wouldn't be bored that day and because seeing it brought me a sense of joy. That's exactly how I felt the morning after I set up the new yellow iMac Apple sent me.

For the first time in a long time, looking at an iMac didn't fill me with a sense of dread. I wasn't reminded of all the unread emails in my inbox, unanswered Slack messages, and my extensively long to-do list. Instead, the iMac existed as a soothing piece of interior decor that brought some color to my minimalist bedroom.

If yellow isn't your preferred iMac color, you can also choose from orange, green, blue, pink, purple, and silver. Regardless of the color you choose, each one has a white bezel and pastel-colored chin on the front, while the stand and back of the machine are more pigmented.

So, for example, the chin on the yellow iMac is muted (which plays nicely with the white border), while the rest of the hardware is a metallic gold. And you'll find the same goes for the rest of the colors.

I appreciate Apple's attention to small detail with this iMac lineup, too — my yellow iMac came with a matching yellow power cord, yellow Magic Keyboard, and a yellow Magic Mouse.

I also noticed text fields in Safari and Chrome are automatically outlined in yellow, selecting text with the cursor highlighted words in yellow, and clicking on icons turned them gold. Even though I've already had the iMac for a week now, I feel like I'm still finding little Easter eggs throughout the experience.

As for the rest of the iMac, the front features a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display (4480 x 2520 resolution) with a glass coating that delivers really bright and crisp picture quality. I actually preferred using it over my TV to watch movies and shows.

Speaking of nice picture quality, on top of the display is a 1080p FaceTime camera. It's the same one that was first introduced on last year's 27-inch iMac. As I said back in August: It's a massive upgrade from the grainy 720p webcam featured on Apple's MacBooks and does an excellent job at enhancing image quality.

On the bottom of the display is the speaker grille, which packs force-cancelling woofers that help to create a thumpy and vibrant bass while also cancelling out vibration, especially when maxing out volume.

They don't get extremely loud though. During two separate FaceTime calls, I had it set to the highest possible volume without even realizing. And while using it to watch Netflix from my bed, I found myself pushing the iMac as close to the edge of my desk as possible to hear the audio better. But it still offers impressive sound for such a compact iMac.

Moving to the back of the iMac, you'll find a power button and ports. My iMac model features four ports total (the amount differs depending on the model you choose, but we'll get to that later), which includes two Thunderbolt ports and two USB 3 ports. On the left side of the iMac is also a 3.5mm headphone jack.

It's weirdly ... portable

When I first unboxed the iMac, I braced myself for what I thought would be a very heavy and unwieldy lift. But picking it up was the complete opposite. At 9.83 pounds, my noodle arms were able to carry the iMac effortlessly. The stand also has a small footprint, at 5.8-inches, which fits nicely on the cramped desk in my room.

While I can't say this iMac would ever sit anywhere but my desk, it's nice to know that I can easily bring it out to the coffee table in my living room or to the kitchen table whenever I need a break from being cooped up in my room. Its 24-inch display is also a lot more comfortable to stare at for long periods of time than the 13-inch screen on my MacBook Pro.

I also wouldn't be opposed to packing this thing up in my car and traveling with it, if the opportunity arose. I can't say the same for the 27-inch iMac that weighs 20.8 pounds, which caused me anxiety to move even slightly.

I never thought I would praise an iMac for its portability, but here I am — and that's the point. Apple designed it to be lightweight and thin on purpose, allowing you to move it from room to room without feeling like you just finished an arm workout.

Colors will vary, though

Yes, the iMac comes available in seven different colors, but colors vary depending on the configuration you choose. Each one includes the same M1 chip, but you have a few different options in terms of memory and storage:

• 8-core CPU and 7-Core GPU (with 256GB of storage, 8GB of memory, two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports): Starts at $1,299 and comes in blue, green, pink, or silver

• 8GB-core CPU and 8-Core GPU (with 256GB of storage, 8GB of memory, two Thunderbolt/ USB 4 ports, two USB 3 ports): Starts at $1,499 and comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, or silver

• 8GB-core CPU and 8-Core GPU (with 512GB of storage, 8GB of memory, two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, two USB 3 ports): Starts at $1,699 and comes in blue, green, pink, yellow, orange, purple, or silver

You can increase the first configuration up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage, while the last two options can be upgraded up to 16GB of memory and 2TB of storage. Of course, depending on what you choose, that'll come at an additional cost.

The base configuration also comes with a standard Magic Keyboard, while the two more expensive options includes a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.

Apple sent me the latter and, while I can't say it revolutionizes the experience, using my fingerprint to download apps and make purchases via Apple Pay is a lot quicker and less annoying than having to manually type my passwords in each time. It'll also come in handy for those who have a bunch of family members using the iMac, since it allows you to switch between user profiles using each person's respective fingerprint.

This is the iMac to buy

While I can't speak on behalf of creatives who push their iMacs beyond its limits for graphic design or editing photos and videos, I can speak for the regular people out there who just need a snappy iMac for emails, web browsing, and messaging through the day, and entertainment at night. If you've been holding off on upgrading your desktop or feel hesitant to drop over $1,000 on this new machine, I can assure you it's worth the investment. The 24-inch iMac is an excellent, compact machine that packs enough power to provide a super smooth experience.

Plus, the pop of color alone will automatically boost your mood on even the roughest of days. Unless you get the silver color. I can't help you there.

Choosing a color for your new 24-inch iMac is no simple task. It requires a lot of thought and self reflection — these things need to match your home, your iPhone, your outfits, and your soul.

If you're feeling lost as to which one is more your forever mood (and how could you not with seven bold colors?), allow us to help. We've put together a short guide to all the different personality types that match each iMac color. Now, you can feel a lot better about your place in society and dropping over $1,300 on one of Apple's vibrant machines.

Yellow iMac

You're the type who wakes up and manages to check off going for a one-mile run, folding laundry, and clearing your inbox to zero all before sunrise. You think being a "morning person” is something to brag about and you definitely mention it in your Bumble bio. On weekends, you enjoy finding inspirational quotes on Pinterest boards like "Dream Big, Work Hard" to print out using your label maker. (Yes, there are labels in your cupboards.)

In the evenings, you can regularly be found sipping Barefoot Pinot Grigio out of a wine glass emblazoned with the words "Live, Laugh, Love" as you lazily browse Zillow on your phone and imagine yourself starring in one of those HGTV shows. Oh, and you’ve probably got Taylor Swift's Fearless album blasting in the background (yes, we know, she’s gonna re-record everything and stick it to Scooter Braun).

Orange iMac

There are two types of orange fans out there:

There are the real Elle Woods stans who know this orange iMac is only acceptable because it's the closest they'll get to her iconic iBook in Legally Blonde.

When asked how you managed to choose this color out of so many options, your natural response is: "What? Like it's hard?"

Bend and snap, baby!

If, for some ungodly reason, you're the other kind of orange lover who just...likes orange, then it’s clear you have no taste. Orange is obnoxious but maybe you're okay with that? (We don't judge.) It matches absolutely nothing in your living space and is only ever appropriate in the fall (and even then it's questionable).

As Elle Woods put it best: "Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed."

Green iMac

Green — the "daring" color option for bros who are comfortable in their own skin and like to remind you of it.

If you could, you'd use the green iMac in the middle of the woods even though you’d have zero electricity or WiFi access because...vibes, man.

Is that a Nalgene bottle I see in your hand? Credit: Mashable composite; Apple

You can't go a full 15 minutes without mentioning either veganism, cold brew coffee, or Elon Musk, and you love to scarf down Impossible Burgers because you feel like you're saving the planet with every bite.

Oh, and though you have a tendency to rant about Amazon taking over everything, you still shop exclusively at Whole Foods for the Prime member discounts.

Pink iMac

If the pink iMac were a human, it would have very strong opinions about James Charles, Jeffree Star, and the rest of the beauty YouTuber gang. It would also most definitely make a very public showing of leaving (and then rejoining) Twitter to get away from the haters.

We all know you love to keep track of your like-to-minute ratio. Credit: Mashable composite; Apple

Those who opt for this bubbly-looking machine are the ones who know all the words to Addison Rae's Obsessed, binge Trisha Paytas' mukbang vlogs, and get real-time updates on the David Dobrik saga. Their IG grid also consists strictly of thirst traps captioned with sayings like: "Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.”

Purple iMac

Okay, kween. Tell me you think you're royalty without telling me you think you're royalty.

We get it... you're "zen." Credit: Mashable composite; apple

When you choose the purple iMac, here’s what we know for sure:

You obsessively use the Headspace app and have somehow made meditation into a competitive sport. You’re always carrying that rose quartz healing crystal you bought from Etsy in your “Rose Apothecary” bag and talking about “staying grounded” in these “trying times.” You unironically enjoy the scent of GOOP’s "This Smells Like My Vagina" candle and you also think this iMac matches your aura perfectly.

Blue iMac

You're not a regular mom, you're a “cool” mom.

You love to brag about all those DMB shows you attended in college. Credit: Mashable composite; Apple

You carpool your kids and all their friends to soccer in a Toyota Highlander (because it's the new minivan), proudly attend school bake sales with cupcakes from Trader Joe's in hand, and watch Bravo with a glass or three of Skinnygirl Margarita. And instead of paying attention during those dreaded Zoom PTA meetings, you're scrolling through Chrissy Teigen's Twitter and liking all her tweets because you thrive on safe social media drama.

Is that a Dave Matthews Band album we hear in the background?

Silver iMac

This iMac sits on your very neat, very clean desk right next to the HomePod mini (that reads off your Apple calendar every morning) and the latest iPad Pro (that's only used to display the stock market ticker in real time). You're confident Jony Ive would approve of your minimalist setup because you find comfort in the term "Basic AF." You probably own a plain grey sweatshirt that says as much.

Yes, Jony Ive approves of your decision. Credit: Mashable composite; Apple

When you're not answering boring emails with gems like "Will circle back," you're bike riding through the Canadian Mountains or French Countryside on your Peloton to warm up for a cycling class with Cody Rigsby. At the end of each night, you wind down by watching DVR’d episodes of The Masked Singer, even though it always becomes background noise to your continuing Candy Crush addiction.
