Italian Premium Textiles and Circularity since 1943.

Chi siamo

Founded in 1941 by Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi, Manteco® began as a small spinning mill dedicated to producing recycled wool yarns from old military clothing and blankets. By 1943, the company expanded into woven textiles, maintaining its commitment to circularity and sustainability from the start. Over the decades, Manteco® has evolved into a benchmark in the fashion industry, celebrated for its creativity, innovation, and sustainable practices. Our dedication to research and investment has led to pioneering textile solutions that integrate a scientific approach to sustainability. Manteco® is fully certified and proudly produces 100% in Tuscany through MSystem, our specialized, zero-mile, fully traced, transparent, and certified supply chain comprising over 56 partner textile companies. Manteco® champions circular fashion, striving to prevent value leakages along the supply chain. Our Zero-Waste system recovers all wool industrial waste, and our Sustainable Design philosophy ensures the creation of durable and recyclable wool textiles. Innovative initiatives like Project43 and Project53 recycle wool fabric offcuts and unsold garments. We also introduce our own brands of sustainable wool: - MWool®: The next generation of recycled wool, made from pre- and post-consumer wool garments and scraps, colored without added dyes through our Recype® technique. - ReviWool®: Low-impact virgin wool crafted from valuable co-product fibers from the worsting process, transforming waste into premium textiles. Our relentless pursuit of sustainability has earned Manteco® membership in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network and partnership with the Monitor for Circular Fashion by SDA Bocconi. Not to mention 'The Climate Action' award at the 2023 Sustainable Fashion Awards by CNMI. 🔎 Curious about the stories behind the designs in the Manteco x Liberty. Fabrics collection? ➡️ Swipe through the carousel to discover more about 4 of them! 1️⃣ Royal Stitch Hand-painted in the Liberty studio using gouache, this trompe l’oeil design blends heritage with contemporary artistic flair. Its floral motifs, drawn to resemble gold embroidery, take inspiration from the elaborate ceremonial garments of the Tudor period, where gilded embellishments conveyed distinction and grandeur. 2️⃣ Poppy Valley Poppy Valley is a contemporary reworking of the beloved classic Poppy & Daisy, which first appeared in Liberty’s archival pattern books in the late 1910s. Enlarged and meticulously redrawn in fine, delicate outlines, this version preserves the charm and spontaneity of the original. Its airy composition and crisp detailing bring a fresh clarity to the design, while retaining the unmistakable character of a quintessential Liberty floral. 3️⃣ Tudor Poppy This sophisticated botanical draws inspiration from a small fabric fragment discovered in the Liberty archive, dating back to 1895. Featuring bold, stylised poppies flowing in undulating synergy amid winding foliage and delicate flowering buds, the design pays homage to Liberty’s long-standing association with the Arts & Crafts movement. Tudor Poppy was lovingly restored and carefully reconstructed with delicate shading and soft inky washes. 4️⃣ Montgomery Day Inspired by William Morris’s belief that patterns should evoke ‘unmistakable suggestions of gardens and fields,’ Montgomery Day explores the quiet intricacy of natural forms. Scattered sprigs of flowers, leaves and ferns were hand-drawn in the Liberty studio using fine liner pens, their delicate details and graphic shading reminiscent of a lush forest canopy. #MadeInItaly #LibertyFabrics #Manteco
