Yesterday marked a major milestone as Ash Grove Cement Company , a CRH company, and our portfolio company partners Carbon Upcycling Technologies (CUT) officially broke ground on Carbon 1 Mississauga, a first-of-its-kind commercial carbon capture and utilization (CCU) facility at Ash Grove’s cement plant in Ontario. 🍁 Leaders in carbon and resource utilization, CUT will deploy its patented technology to capture CO₂ emissions and transform local industrial by-products into low-carbon supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). ♻️ Once fully operational in 2026, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 30,000 tons of SCMs annually, directly supporting Canada’s climate and clean manufacturing goals. We’re proud to be backing CUT in scaling carbon-smart cement solutions and accelerating the innovation that’s reshaping our industry. Over the past week, I’ve had the privilege of meeting colleagues across the CRH team in Australia, and touring some of our excellent operations throughout Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Each site was a hive of activity, with our on-the-ground teams working hard to deliver for our customers and drive our mission forward. Later in the week in Sydney, I had the opportunity to sit down for a fireside chat with Paul Headd, CEO of Adbri, to discuss what it means to combine purpose and performance, the importance of developing a strong pipeline of talent, and the critical role Australia is playing in helping CRH win the next decade. 80 of our local leaders from Adbri, Civilmart, and Leviat in Australia joined us for that session, rounding us out with an extremely thoughtful and engaging Q&A. A huge thank you to everyone that welcomed Peter Buckley, President of CRH International, and I with open arms – your passion and commitment are part of what makes CRH such an exceptional place to work, and I’m grateful for each and every one of you out there making a difference for those we serve.
