Small Groups

As followers of Christ, we’re called into community, not isolation. Church isn’t just a place; it’s people walking together toward Jesus. Small groups help us experience this by creating spaces to be known, encouraged, and transformed by the gospel.

Four Pillars of Small Groups

COMMUNITY

Small groups are where we’re known, needed, and reminded that life with Jesus is meant to be shared.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Gospel growth is messy, and we’re here to support one another. We speak truth in love, practicing honesty to help each other walk freely in the gospel.

BIBLE

We open the Bible together, allowing God’s Word to shape our everyday lives.

SERVE

Following Jesus’ example, we joyfully meet needs and care for others beyond ourselves.

Getting Connected is Simple:

Step 1: Request to join a small group.
Step 2: We’ll personally help you find a group that fits your schedule and life stage.
Step 3: Connect regularly, build meaningful relationships, and grow spiritually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Hope put such a strong emphasis on small groups?

Because Sunday morning alone isn’t enough. With a large congregation spread across the twin cities metro, the most consistent, personal shepherding happens in small groups — not from a stage. Small groups are where people are actually known, cared for, and helped to grow.

What actually happens in a small group?

Every group has its own personality, but they all share four commitments: opening the Bible together, building honest community, holding each other accountable in love, and serving others beyond themselves. Groups typically meet weekly or biweekly, share a meal or coffee, and spend time in Scripture and conversation.

Who leads small groups?

Groups are led by trained men and women from within Hope’s congregation — not just staff. These leaders serve as “front-line shepherds,” and they’re supported by elders, staff, and coaches. You’ll be in a group with someone who’s walking the same road you are.

How big are the groups?

Groups typically range from 6 to 20 people. Small enough to be real, big enough to have a range of perspectives and life experience.

What if a group isn't the right fit?

We’ll help you find one that works. When you fill out the connection form, someone will personally help you find a group that fits your schedule, life stage, and neighborhood. If it’s not the right fit after a few weeks, just let us know and we’ll find you a better match.
