Help implementing UI for accordion

I want to create a discord style sidebar in financial tracker app.

I am having trouble getting it all set up. to look like the discord UI. Ideally I use accordion instead of collapsible.

I am mainly having issues getting the hover / active / spacing right.

the hover tints and font weights are being really tricky to deal with.

@sakgoyal Implementation details for "hover/active/spacing" in a Discord-like sidebar rely heavily on the group and group-hover utilities.

1. Parent item: group flex items-center gap-2 p-2 hover:bg-zinc-800 ...
2. Icon/Text: text-zinc-400 group-hover:text-white transition-colors.

For the accordion-style vs collapsible: passing variant="ghost" to the trigger often removes the background/border bulk.
The Discord "pill" indicator is usually absolute positioned:

There are a few concrete issues in the posted classes/markup that affect your hover and active states:

1. group-data-[state=open]:... looks for an ancestor carrying both group and data-state="open". Your AccordionItem does not have group. For styling the trigger itself, use its own Radix state instead:

2. hover:font-bold changes text metrics on every hover, which makes labels shift. Keep one weight, or change weight only for the persistent active/open state. Use background/text color for hover.
3. In FirstSidebar, SidebarMenuButton normally renders a button, while NavLink renders an anchor. For the Radix/asChild components used in your snippet, set asChild on the menu button so the link becomes the clickable element rather than nesting it inside a button.
4. Your account rows currently render a div, not a route link, and have no route-active state. Render a NavLink through SidebarMenuSubButton asChild and derive its active styling from the router if the account has a destination.

For spacing, explicitly reduce AccordionTrigger's vertical padding and AccordionContent's bottom padding rather than adjusting every label independently. The Radix trigger docs confirm its own data-state attribute. Current Base UI components use a different composition API; don't mix that API into your existing Radix/asChild version.
