Codex review: a second Codex checks a change for duplicated code, once, in its first round
AGENTS.md asks every final review to check a change for duplicated code, and nothing did: the review is Codex's built-in one, which looks for bugs, and in its first 65 runs here it reported no duplicated code at all, while a pass asked about duplication alone found several in one change. The codex-review skill also told the session not to add findings of its own. - codex-review.sh runs a second Codex beside the review, a plain `codex exec` (the review takes no instructions next to a commit) asked only for duplication: what the change adds that the repo already has, what it writes twice, and code it replaces but leaves in place. Both sides have to be read, and code that looks alike but behaves differently is left out. Findings come with the review's levels ([P2] for a function, a component or a block written again, [P3] for a constant, a string or a few lines), so the rounds go by them as they do by the review's. - The two passes run at once, each with its own scratch dir (Codex mounts its guards into every dir it may write, and two runs in one collide) and its own fallback through the models. The output is the review, then the duplicate check (review.md, duplicates.md). A duplicate check that no model answered is printed as such, for the session to make itself; a review that no model answered still exits 3, with the duplicate check printed if it answered. - --no-duplicates leaves the check out. The skill makes it once per change: duplication comes with the code a change adds, and the later rounds look at fixes, each reviewed by the round after it. From round 2, and in a new review of a change the session has already checked with only fixes since, the script runs the review alone. - The skill says how to check a duplicate finding (both sides; a reuse that fits AGENTS.md's rules on shared mechanisms and the app's top level) and that the session's own duplication check, when Codex's did not answer, is the one finding of its own it makes. /finalize and AGENTS.md say so.
