What do Berlin and Ulsan have in common? They both played a key role in the unveiling of the first vessel in our new series of dual-fuel vessels🚢🎉. The vessel, named Berlin Mærsk, was christened during a ceremony on 18 June at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ (HHI) shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. Closely resembling the previous Ane Mærsk class, this class features a wider beam, allowing Berlin Mærsk to carry more containers. The increased capacity also makes it the largest dual-fuel ship to date to join the Maersk fleet🚢 “With the launch of the Berlin Mærsk class, we continue to build an ocean toolkit adaptable to multiple fuel pathways." says Anda Cristescu, Head of Chartering & Newbuilding at Maersk. Berlin Mærsk will make its first port call in Shanghai on 7 July, where it will enter service on our AE3 service connecting Eastern Asia with Northern Europe. Recently, Berlin Mærsk made its maiden call to the Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia 🇲🇾 The vessel, the first in a series of six brand new 17,480-TEU dual fuel vessels to enter our fleet, was named back in June at the HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea. The inaugural call to Tanung Pelepas terminal marks the start of its entry on the AE3 service linking East Asia to Northern Europe.
