BMC Plant Biology is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on all aspects of plant biology, including molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and whole organism research. The journal welcomes studies on plants and other photosynthetic organisms that describe the biological understanding of morphology, physiology, whole organism or its interaction with environmental cues. Submissions are also encouraged in the manipulation of plants towards use in agricultural and food research.
The journal welcomes manuscripts in the following broad sub-topics of plant biology:
- Biochemistry and physiology
- Development and cell biology
- Genetics and crop biotechnology
- Genomics and evolution
- Plant-abiotic interactions
- Plant-biotic interactions
- Reproductive biology
As a BMC Series journal, BMC Plant Biology does not make editorial decisions based on the perceived interest or potential impact of a study. Manuscripts are considered for publication if they are scientifically valid. For research articles, this includes having a clearly defined and sound research question, appropriate methodology and analysis, and adherence to community-agreed standards relevant to the field.
