BMC Neurology is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on all aspects of the prevention, diagnosis and management of neurological disorders, as well as related molecular genetics, pathophysiology, and epidemiology.
The journal welcomes manuscripts in the following broad areas of neurology research and clinical practice:
- Neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, ALS)
- Cerebrovascular disorders (e.g., stroke, aneurysms)
- Epilepsy and seizure disorders
- Headache and migraine
- Neuroinflammatory and autoimmune conditions (e.g., multiple sclerosis)
- Neuromuscular diseases (e.g., myasthenia gravis, muscular dystrophies)
- Movement disorders
- Cognitive and behavioral neurology
- Infectious diseases of the nervous system
- Genetic and molecular basis of neurological conditions
- Clinical trials and therapeutic interventions
- Neuroepidemiology and population-based studies
- Diagnostic biomarkers and neuroimaging
- Preventive strategies and public health approaches in neurology
As a BMC Series journal, BMC Neurology does not make editorial decisions based on the perceived interest or potential impact of a study. Manuscripts are considered for publication if they are scientifically valid. For research articles, this includes having a clearly defined and sound research question, appropriate methodology and analysis, and adherence to community-agreed standards relevant to the field.
