Articles

Aims and scope

BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making is an open access journal publishing original peer-reviewed research articles in relation to the design, development, implementation, use, and evaluation of health information technologies and decision-making for human health.

Topics covered in the journal include:

  • Clinical decision-making, knowledge support systems, and theory
  • eHealth, telehealth and mobile health systems
  • Healthcare information systems
  • Standards, technology, machine learning, and modelling

As a BMC Series journal, BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making does not make editorial decisions based on the perceived interest or potential impact of a study. Manuscripts are considered for publication if they are scientifically valid. For research articles, this includes having a clearly defined and sound research question, appropriate methodology and analysis, and adherence to community-agreed standards relevant to the field.
