🚦More legal certainty & simpler implementation for hauliers, national authorities and toll service providers! We welcome the political agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union on amendments to the Eurovignette Directive. 🛣️ The Directive sets the framework for road tolls and user charges for vehicles across the EU. Yesterday’s agreement provides greater clarity to hauliers, national authorities and toll service providers on application while supporting consistent implementation across Member States. 🚛 It will also ensure uniform application of the CO2-based charging rules in light of new CO2 emission performance standards for heavy-duty vehicles.

How can EU funding help Ukrainian cities build a greener, more resilient future? 🤝 Yesterday, CINEA welcomed a delegation of Ukrainian city mayors and representatives from Ukrainian ministries to explore the wide range of EU funding opportunities managed by CINEA that support sustainable urban development, climate action and resilient reconstruction. 🟢 Bringing together experts from EU Science, Research and Innovation, EU Transport and CINEA, the programme showcased EU initiatives, successful projects and funding opportunities particularly relevant for Ukrainian cities and local authorities, under Horizon Europe, including the EU Cities and Climate Missions, the New European Bauhaus, and the LIFE Programme. 🏙️ Today, Ukrainian cities, public authorities, research organisations and other entities are participating in 82 Horizon Europe and LIFE projects, benefitting from around €23 million in EU funding. 🟢 Participants learned about SUN4Ukraine and U_CAN Project, two flagship projects with a combined budget of €10 million, helping Ukrainian cities develop climate neutrality plans by linking recovery and reconstruction with long-term climate goals while strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange with #MissionCities across Europe. 🟢 The programme also highlighted CIVINET Ukraine – the Ukrainian-speaking national network of the CIVITAS Initiative – which brings together Ukrainian cities and public and private stakeholders to promote integrated strategies for sustainable urban mobility, foster peer learning and support the transition towards cleaner, more sustainable transport systems. 🟢 Beyond showcasing funding opportunities, the visit provided a valuable platform to exchange experiences, strengthen partnerships and discuss how EU programmes can continue supporting Ukraine's cities on their path towards a greener, more resilient and sustainable future. #EU #HorizonEU #Climate #Energy #Transport #MissionCities #MissionClimateAdaptation #LifeProgramme #NEB Paloma Aba Garrote Ewa Ptaszyńska Ivan Konaktchiev Octavia Anamaria Stepan Marcel Rommerts Isabelle Vandoorne Melina Zarouka Laura Hetel Jürgen Kettner

🥅 It’s time to level the playing field in EU road transport. Today, our Mobility Package 1 enters into force. That means stronger protection for drivers and fairer competition across the sector. What’s new? 💤Employers must provide suitable accommodation for drivers during their weekly rest. 💶 Drivers must be paid according to the rules of the posting country, if these rules are more favourable to the driver. 🚚 Light commercial vehicles now follow the same EU rules on driving and rest times as lorries. These changes will help deliver better working conditions for drivers and safer roads. #RoadSafety

✈️ Air travel doesn’t always go as planned. An agreement has been reached on updated EU air passenger rights. These updates will make passengers' rights clearer and easier to understand when travelling across Europe. The updates aim to 🔸 Make passengers' rights clearer when disruptions occur 🔸 Bring more transparency to fares and hand baggage charges 🔸 Ensure that missing an outbound flight does not automatically mean losing the return 🔸 Strengthen support for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility Find out more → https://lnkd.in/e6WVuTSY

⌛🚚 Smart tachograph V2: deadline tomorrow! As of 1 July, all EU-registered light commercial vehicles operating internationally for hire or reward must have a smart tachograph version 2 installed. 🪪 This is a vital step toward stronger enforcement of EU rules on driving & rest times and the posting of workers. It will also help protect drivers, support fair competition and improve road safety.

🇪🇺🇺🇦 Ukraine’s determination has not wavered – and neither has our support for its recovery, reconstruction and resilience. At the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk 🇵🇱, I took part in discussions with policymakers from Ukraine, EU Member States and financial institutions on how to better mobilise resources for transport to support Ukraine’s reconstruction and its European path. The Ukraine Transport Support Fund, launched under the CIG4U (Common Interest Group for Transport in Ukraine) within the ITF, will help restore and strengthen the country’s transport system. Together with fellow panellists, we discussed financing priorities and ways to attract new donors. Given the continued destruction caused by daily attacks, quick and targeted support remains essential. It is encouraging to see this initiative develop into concrete action. 💶 The EU will continue to support Ukraine through the Solidarity Lanes. Total grant support now exceeds €2.4 billion, including €1.55 billion from #CEFTransport, strengthening connectivity between the EU, Ukraine and Moldova. 🚚 We also discussed practical challenges at road border crossings and in road transport. Road connectivity remains essential for Ukraine’s economy, enabling trade flows and supporting long-term cooperation between EU and Ukrainian companies. It will also be critical for reconstruction and Ukraine’s accession process. 🛤️ Maintaining the resilience of Ukraine’s rail infrastructure during wartime remains a key priority. With new systems to monitor rail security in real time, Ukrainian Railways (UZ) has been able to mitigate the impact of repeated attacks on infrastructure, rolling stock, and staff. I look forward to further work with Ukrainian partners on strengthening the security and resilience of the system. The rail discussion also provided an opportunity to look ahead, including the gradual deployment of EU standard gauge and the continued alignment with EU rules and reforms. 🚢 Maritime and inland waterway transport – supported through the Solidarity Lanes initiative – remains a vital part of Ukraine’s logistics resilience and economic activity. 🧳 Finally, tourism is emerging as an important pillar of Ukraine’s recovery, with work already underway. I look forward to continued engagement with the Ukraine Tourism Alliance, launched at last year’s Ukraine Recovery Conference. This is the moment to advance alignment with EU legislation, sustainable development and cross-border cooperation. Tourism will play a key role in rebuilding local economies and strengthening social cohesion. Reliable, safe and resilient transport remains essential. We remain committed to supporting Ukraine’s urgent needs today and building stronger connectivity for the future. #StandWithUkraine #TEN_T #SolidarityLanes

✨ 🚆 New direct rail service connecting Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen! Today marks an important milestone for cross-border rail travel in Europe – the new rail service between Prague 🇨🇿, Berlin 🇩🇪 and Copenhagen 🇩🇰 creates a direct link between Scandinavia and Central Europe, and that means better rail connections for international passengers. The new service builds on the trans-European transport network and will benefit from #CEFTransport infrastructure investments in the future, including the Dresden-Prague rail link and the Fehmarn Belt fixed link. No matter how you travel, the EU has got your back! ✈️🚢🚌🚆 We welcome the political agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Council of the EU on better enforcement of passenger rights across all transport modes (And yes, this is a different political agreement than the one reached on air passenger rights a week ago. We’ve been busy! 😉). What’s in it for you? The new rules will help you: ℹ️ Be better informed about your rights in case of travel disruptions 💶 Be more prepared to request reimbursement or compensation 🛄 Know how to pursue claims The rules also state that for reimbursements of flights booked through an intermediary the final payment must include the airfare and intermediation fee. ♿ Plus, they strengthen quality assistance for air passengers with disabilities & reduced mobility, including by requiring the free transport of safety companions where needed. 🚄 Completing the trans-European high-speed rail network by 2040 will require an estimated €345 billion in infrastructure investment alone. To achieve this goal, there is no one-size fits all solution. During our strategic dialogue on high-speed rail financing, we met with investors and stakeholders from the rail sector to explore ways to mobilise investments for priority projects in the EU. What was covered? 🔹Opportunities to finance high-speed rail projects but also the barriers to investment 🔹Investment needs for infrastructure 🔹How to boost investment for high-speed rail rolling stock Together, we can facilitate opportunities for long-term investment in high-speed rail – that’s investment in a better-connected Europe. ⚓Today, we mark the #DayOfTheSeafarer. We honour seafarers worldwide who keep global trade moving and make an indispensable contribution to the world economy. Yet, too many continue to navigate waters affected by conflict and geopolitical tensions. Seafarers must never become unintended victims of geopolitical conflicts. In the Gulf region, in line with the International Maritime Organization resolution, the immediate priority remains the safety and security of all seafarers, support for stranded vessels, and the gradual restoration of normal maritime traffic. #EUTransport remains committed to supporting the IMO’s efforts to evacuate around 11,000 seafarers from the Gulf region and to facilitate the resumption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
