  • You might have seen our most recent post seeking a GM for our new US business and New York Studio - the pic of the Statue of Liberty herself, complete with a little wrist candy. That was a little bit of fun to catch your eye, but if you're keen to learn a little more about what it is like to work as a GM for Time+Tide, here's a little taste. Over to you Andrew McUtchen and Tim Philp. To apply, send your CV to jobs@timeandtidewatches.com and a short note telling us who your favourite independent watch brand is and why, along with what being the GM of Time + Tide US would mean to you.

Now, we’re looking for a strategic and entrepreneurial General Manager – U.S. to lead U.S. expansion. This is a leadership role for someone who thrives at the intersection of commerce, content and community — someone who sees opportunity where others see category fatigue. Because we’re not just selling watches — we’re building a global community that celebrates the makers, the stories and the magic of horology. If you’re excited by creativity, commerce and culture — and you want to shape the U.S. chapter of an increasingly global brand — we’d love to hear from you. To apply, send your CV to jobs@timeandtidewatches.com and a short note telling us who your favourite independent watch brand is and why, along with what being the GM of Time + Tide US would mean to you.  Apply now or tag someone who’d be perfect for this.

  • What an incredible 24 hours it was last Thursday when we celebrated the launch of the ‘White Surfer’ - our latest collaboration with ZENITH Watches, and the third and final instalment of the Surfer Trilogy. In two different Studios, across two different hemispheres and just over 10 hours apart, we welcomed our amazing community to party with us to close the chapter on a memorable ride, which started back in 2021. 🏄 🏄 🏄♂️

Last night, our co-founder and CEO, Mike France, along with a curated selection of watches, made a special appearance at the Time+Tide Watches Melbourne Discovery Studio. Joined by T+T’s Australian Editor, Jamie Weiss, Mike led a discussion on the state of British watchmaking, shared insights into our journey in Australia, and, of course, introduced the new C65 Dune Aeolian collection. https://lnkd.in/eahxGf7c

2025 is starting strong! But, I have to be real here. If “reinventing retail” is what we’re doing with our Discovery Studios - it’s a happy byproduct of creating my ultimate central London club / hang space, where there’s an endless stream of watch lovers, watch brands and watch media walking in our double doors. I am - as a result - annoyingly interested in everyone that comes in. It’s a problem. I’m trying to be better. My Studio Manager says people like it. But then, would you tell me the truth Amer Peters ?? Thanks for the love Rob Corder - you’re a champion. Thanks always to the team of dreams that patiently watch me get so much glory - when we all know damn well that only an elite bunch of operators could make one person look this good. • 2024 - What a year it has been: ⚓️ We celebrated our 10 year anniversary with three of the hottest independent brands Studio Underd0g Furlan Marri and Baltic Watches and in doing so, launched our Studio Editions concept. ⚓️We published over 200 videos on YouTube and grew our social media platforms to now reach millions of watch fans across the world each month. ⚓️ Our Melbourne Studio came to life with lots of exciting events and we welcomed watch lovers from across the country to our first Studio Pop Ups in Sydney and Brisbane. ⚓️We opened the doors to our new London Studio and welcomed a new UK team to our global line up of rock star employees. ⚓️We released the TAG Heuer Sundowner playing host to events in our London and Melbourne Studios and selling out less than 24 hours after launch. ⚓️We helped set a new sales record for a Studio Underd0g with our collaborative Pizza Unique selling for USD$17k ⚓️We hosted 15 of the biggest British watch brands on the planet at our inaugural British Weekender and welcomed over 550 visitors through the door across two days. But the only way we managed to pull this all off was thanks to our incredible team of dedicated, passionate and put simply - crazy good, Time+Tider’s located across all corners of the globe. We also have the most positive, engaged and enthusiastic watch fans in the game. A big shout out to our growing tribe, we’d be nothing without you! Two years ago, I wrote a post that went crazy. 15,000+ people read my comparison of the customer experience in two watch shops. For a while, people in the watch world started recognising me as ‘The Battersea Power Station post guy’, and the lady at IWC Schaffhausen whose selling skills I highlighted thanked me for making her 'a little bit famous’. This was helped by the fact that over 150 people in her company saw it, too. Last Friday, I visited a store that aims to completely change the face of watch retail. Although a watch retailer, Time+Tide Watches’ new venture pitches itself as a ‘Discovery Studio,’ which perfectly describes its approach to selling watches. Founded in 2014 as a side hustle in Melbourne, Australia, by Andrew McUtchen, Time & Tide has grown to become a global watch media business. Following the success of their first physical retail space in Melbourne, they have brought their ‘Discovery Studio’ concept to Central London. It should not come as a surprise that a company founded on publishing stories carries that through into its retail experience. However, when you visit their light, airy space, you feel no pressure at all; just an opportunity to learn, try, discuss, and maybe become inspired. The team is as interested in you as a visitor as you are in their watches and is more likely to share an origin tale as much as a spec sheet or even a price. What translates above all else is the passion – for watches, yes, but also for the company, Time & Tide, the retail concept, and customers. It is an infectious enthusiasm whether browsing or buying, and I am sure it will keep customers returning for another fix of this ebullient atmosphere. The embodiment of this passion is the founder Andrew, who I first connected with after his article ‘The subtle art of giving a f*ck… about watches’ was published in WatchPro magazine. Ostensibly about the passion of a Swiss brand executive, it said more about the writer's passion than the subject's. I popped into Time & Tide as they were gearing up for what turned out to be a stunningly successful weekend celebration of British Watchmaking Brands, and although flat-out busy, they had the time and patience to show me everything. As a comparison, I also went to the showroom of a major Swiss brand a few feet from T&T in Oxford Circus. After the initial ‘Is there anything I can help you with…?’ (Really, are we still saying that?), to which the standard English answer is ‘just looking thank you’ whether you want help or not, I was left to do just that. Look around, peer at the displays, and head back out the door. No passion, no attempt to get a watch on my wrist – even if just for inspiration, and, of course, no sale. The old guard seems to have still a lot to learn, and with Time & Tide, a new wave is coming… #watches #watchcollecting #watchindustry The Watch Scholar
