Revolutionising furniture for generations to come.

About us

At the Treehouse, our team of curious and passionate Koalas have been busy. For a decade, we’ve been perfecting our approach to innovative furniture design, creating beautiful, flexible, and sustainable products that solve the needs of real people. 🛋️🫶🏡 Our Sydney-based Global R&D team is at the heart of it all, constantly innovating our products to deliver optimal performance. And it doesn’t stop there. From design to delivery, supply chain to CX, every team at Koala plays a role in crafting sustainable furniture made with our customers, communities and the planet in mind. Sustainability is the foundation of everything we do. We care deeply about our impact on the world around us and we’re always looking for ways to do things better - from the materials we choose to the partnerships we build. We’re a certified B Corp, proud members of 1% for the Planet, and long-time supporters of WWF, donating more than $3M to date to get our furry friends off the endangered species list. We’re innovating furniture for generations to come with a goal to influence the industry and change the way furniture is made for good.🌏 Our values aren’t just words to us, we live and breathe them in everything we do. We’re curious, ambitious, and selfless. We chase bold ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and take ownership of the impact we make on each other, our customers, and the planet. We speak honestly, act with integrity, and lead with empathy. Whether we’re designing a new product or improving the everyday experience for our customers, we show up with open minds, big hearts, and a drive to do better, together. ✨ Keen to become a Joey and join our Treehouse? https://careers.koala.com/ Let’s be mates, follow us on: 🐨 facebook.com/koala 🐨 instagram.com/koala, instagram.com/koala.jp, instagram.com/koala.usa 🐨 twitter.com/koalamattress

  • The other week, our amazing product design team stepped up to help our friends at ReLove, volunteering their time and talent to create awesome cushions from donated excess fabric. 🪡 You can find these one-of-a-kind cushions at ReStory, ReLove's social enterprise that gives preloved furniture a new lease on life. All sales from ReStory go straight back into driving ReLove's mission: helping people rebuild their homes and lives; which is equally aligned to Koala’s purpose: to make the world a more comfortable place. 🏡🐨💜 It’s partnerships like this that will help drive a more sustainable future for us all. 🌏 ♻️ #LifeatKoala #relove #sustainability

National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held in the first week of July each year to recognise the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year the theme is “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, marking a powerful milestone of 50 years of NAIDOC and celebrating not only the achievements of the past, but the bright future ahead—empowered by the strength of young leaders, the vision of communities and the legacy of ancestors. Over the past two decades, Traditional Owners and Elders across Arnhem Land have forged a powerful legacy in the land management sector through community-controlled organisations that honour and reflect more than 65,000 years of ongoing custodianship. “When we design specific projects, they work well for us. And the same can be said for KKT, when people ask me, where did this KKT idea come from? I always say it came from Bininj ideas.” - Dean Yibarbuk, Co-Chair of KKT and Chair of Warddeken To celebrate NAIDOC Week and everything our partners have already achieved, KKT is sharing stories of grassroots innovation and success as they relate to each of our six funding pillars. • This year for Plastic Free July we are excited to announce our partnership with Seabin™! SeaBin uses their innovative technology to filter out microplastics and plastic pollution from our waterways, preventing it from entering our oceans and bodies. 🌊 Last Friday SeaBin hosted a beach clean at Manly, where our Sydney-based Koalas had an opportunity to really take a look at what washes up on our shores. From styrofoam, to straws, to the stickers on apples and plenty of microplastics, it was an eye opening experience to see the volume first hand. The craziest fact we learnt on the day: did you know that by 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish? 🐟 🤯 Thank you SeaBin for the incredible work you do in keeping our waters clean. We’re super excited to see the impact we're going to have together. ♻️ 💪 #LifeatKoala #plasticfreejuly

June might be over, but at Koala, our ongoing commitment to Pride is as essential as a comfy night’s sleep. This year, we celebrated Pride across every corner of our global treehouse: 🇯🇵 In Japan, our Koalas marched in Tokyo Rainbow Pride -  loud, proud, and showing up in full force. 🇺🇸 In the US, our remote team came together for a fabulous online celebration hosted by a drag queen who brought the sparkle and sass. 🇦🇺 And in Australia, we were joined by our incredible charity partner Twenty10 NSW for a workshop about what practical allyship really looks like for LGBTQIA+ youth. At Koala, pride means more than just rainbow logos. It’s about listening, learning, and making space for everyone to show up as their authentic, comfy selves, every single day. To our LGBTQIA+ Koalas, customers, and community: we see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you - always 💛 #lifeatkoala #pride

🌱 450,000 trees and counting. Last week, Bangalow Koalas planted their 450,000th tree at East Coraki — part of an incredible, community-led effort to restore koala habitat across the Northern Rivers. It’s been a privilege to support this journey and stand alongside our long-time partners at Koala, whose generous backing has helped make milestones like this possible. From 250,000 trees in Goolmangar to 450,000 today, it’s amazing to see how this project has taken root. Just 50,000 trees to go until they reach half a million — and we’ll be cheering them on the whole way. 🌿 Follow the journey: https://lnkd.in/gNQy_8Sb #Koalas #Conservation #RegenerateAustralia #Trees #Planting

As National Reconciliation Week comes to a close, we're proud to stand alongside our partners at the Karrkad Kanjdji Trust (KKT) in their ongoing work with Indigenous rangers and remote communities caring for Country. ✊ Their impact goes far beyond one week—and we encourage everyone to stay engaged, learn, and support meaningful action all year round. 💫 #NRW2025 #Reconciliation #CaringForCountry

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on the ongoing journey to justice for First Nations peoples and communities. It is also a time to consider the role we each have in realising an equitable nation that truly celebrates the histories, cultures and futures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. John Dalywater, Chair of Mimal Land Management and Director of the Karrkad Kanjdji Trust (KKT) shared some words about how supporting rangers and remote communities’ caring for Country work is one way to meaningfully engage in Reconciliation Week—especially in light of the NT government's recent funding cuts to Indigenous ranger programs. “With colonisation, so much has happened. So when we're talking about reconciliation, we're out there doing it ourselves: supporting our communities, helping people return to their Country, protecting that Country from feral animals that are damaging it... But you can't do that without funding.” You can read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gSn68rTg

Last night our Koalas had the pleasure of attending and supporting ReLove at their Annual Dinner for 2025. And what a night it was - from the choir, to the raffle, to the 500+ people in the room supporting such a great cause 💜 This partnership is now four years strong, and we couldn’t be more proud to be working with ReLove in doing good for people AND good for the planet. We’ll continue to support ReLove’s mission to furnish over 1,000 homes through product donations, volunteering efforts and an additional $30,000 contribution off the back of last night’s fundraising dinner. Here’s to creating more homes with kindness 🐨 #lifeatkoala #relove #sustainability #koala

How do we make beautiful, flexible and sustainable furniture? 🪄 Simple. We test it all on animals. We’ve all got a little bit of animal in us. So, we recently unleashed our inner beasts with the wizards over at Collider. 👏 Our Proudly Tested on Animals campaign showcases our innovative, in-house R&D process in a whole new light. Pairing new-school Koala products 🛋️ with the old-school, tongue in cheek Koala humour. Big cheers to our legendary Global Product & Brand teams! 🙌 Nev Fordyce Nikki Jones Marc Dwyer Rebekah Fraser Madison McAlpine Freya Berentsen Natalie Shue Meet our first lab rats… Ahem, uh, Flamingos. 🦩 #lifeatkoala
