The WordPress.com Reader lets you follow, discover, and interact with sites from your phone or tablet. This guide explains how to find new posts with Freshly Pressed, comment on posts, and translate posts in the mobile app.
What Reader does in the app
Reader collects posts from the sites you follow in one feed (also called your reading feed or subscriptions feed). It works the same way as Reader on WordPress.com: you can follow sites, discover new posts, like posts, comment, and save posts to read later. Sites you follow in the app also appear in the Reader on the web, and the reverse is also true.
Open Reader
- Open the app.
- Tap Reader in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Subscriptions to see posts from sites you follow, or tap Discover to find new sites.
Read, like, and reply to comments
The app allows you to read comments on posts, mark them as “liked”, and reply to them all within the app.
Translate Reader posts
On iOS, the Jetpack app can translate Reader posts into your preferred language with Apple’s built-in translation. This feature requires a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
Save posts to read later
Tap the bookmark icon on a post to save it. Saved posts are stored on your device and do not sync to your WordPress.com account. To keep a copy of your saved posts on iOS, see Import and export saved Reader posts in the Jetpack iOS app.
Discover new posts with Freshly Pressed
Freshly Pressed is a collection of standout posts picked by the WordPress.com editorial team. Posts are chosen by people, not by an algorithm based on likes or views. Freshly Pressed is available in the app on both iOS and Android.
To browse Freshly Pressed:
- Tap Reader in the bottom navigation bar.
- Tap Discover.
- Tap Freshly Pressed. It is the first tab on the Discover screen.
Tap any post to read it. From there you can like it, comment on it, or follow the site.
You cannot submit a post to Freshly Pressed. Any post published on a WordPress.com site or a self-hosted site using Jetpack can be selected. To learn what the editors look for, visit Freshly Pressed on WordPress.com Support.
Learn more about the Reader
The Reader in the app and the Reader on WordPress.com share the same features and the same list of followed sites. For more detail, see these WordPress.com Support guides:
