Exploring different game styles and developing titles that resonate with players and their lives are the guiding lights of developer Gamtropy.
Based in Taiwan, team members Ren, Boris, Jason, PeiYi and WeiHsuan came up with the name of their studio by combining the words game and entropy (a measure of uncertainty), because they believe in the endless possibilities of games.

What they’re known for
Games revolving around trending topics in society, from sustainability – think Desertopia and Arctictopia – to social-media phenomenons in Subscribe to My Adventure. By gamifying some of the most important issues facing humanity and nature, the team hopes to help players reflect on real-life events.

Behind the scenes
To design the wild animals in Desertopia and Arctictopia, the team spent a lot of time studying how they look and move – even how they evolve. As you play, you’ll unlock catalogues and learn that kittens can survive falls from high places at merely 3 to 4 weeks old, and that records of domesticated cats predate 7,000 BC.
Yetis are featured in more than one of Gamtropy’s titles, appearing as an exotic species migrating to the Kingdom of Ohfly in Subscribe to My Adventure and on the snowy mountains in Desertopia.
Subscribe to My Adventure was designed to reflect the internet landscapes of different locales. Take the in-game news reports for example: the Chinese headline has a more dramatic flair, whereas the English story includes a considerable number of interviews with passers-by to simulate the markedly different newswriting styles in the respective regions.
