OMG if you have ADHD and you know you should be lifting for your bones, your mental health, your g*dd*mn perimenopause BLAH BLAH BLAH get this app. Within THE DAY I was locked-in and before I even knew what was happening I had a 3x weekly weightlifting practice, and have stuck to it, AT HOME, SOLELY MOTIVATED BY THE COACHING IN THIS APP, for four weeks now. ADHD me is REELING that this has happened. Initially I answered a short quiz about the time I have available for workouts and what equipment I own, and it put me in a team. Since then all l have to do is be in my workout clothes and be in the same room as my dumbbells and the workout HAPPENS. NIL planning whatsoever from me, no thoughts just weights. Coach tells you what to do every step, and the workouts build across each week and over several weeks to build your strength. You’re constantly on a DOABLE MISSION WITH AN END POINT yet also happy it’ll never end as long as you keep the app. It feels like you get through everything so easily even though it’s also HARD- the way the app is built you are always ACHIEVING so there’s that dopamine hit after every set. There’s a team groupchat where you can brag/encourage so you don’t bore your irl friends/partner/family by incessantly blabbing about your new identity as a regular weightlifter (well I still do this. There’s a little phone widget you can get that marks all the workout days you’ve done on a mini calendar and I wave it in people’s faces). You can send your team members cheers and they can send them to you- cute little emojis fall from the top of the screen and it is so encouraging and bonkers. Ladder thankyou for haunting my social media feed, basically getting in my face in every second TikTok, finally I just clicked and I got sucked in and I’m sooooo happy bless all of you at Ladder.
Best app to motivate you to regularly workout

Rejoined a gym and did my own thing for about a month. Was ready to work out smarter but didn’t want to hire a PT. Decided to give Ladder’s free trial a go (saw them on Insta and had read some very good reviews) and I signed on for a year within 4 days of trying it. This app is SO good. Like the best. It took me about a week to feel fully confident using the app. I love how many features it has. I also love coach Samantha - team Evolve. She does excellent guidance and I’m doing so many new exercises in the gym. I can feel my muscles growing which is my goal as a peri woman over 50. I love this app so much, I’ve been exercising for 6x a week as I’m so motivated. It feels like Ladder have figured out the secret sauce to make people love working out. I used to never workout for more than 30 minutes and now I’m doing 45-60 minutes daily without complaint. I love the community aspect - team Evolve is extremely supportive. As someone with a couple of permanent injuries, I really appreciate the ability to swap out exercises that suit my ability. Give it go, I promise you won’t regret it.
Life Changing!

I signed up to Ladder a couple of months ago almost on a whim after seeing an ad on TikTok, and it’s honestly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I chose Team Resilient (shout-out to Coach Neen!) and I’m able to do it all at home with not a lot of equipment as the workouts are very customisable. if I don’t have a particular piece of equipment or can’t or don’t want to do a particular move there are plenty of options to swap. If you prefer to work out in a commercial gym or otherwise have access to machines there are coaches who specialise in that too, and you can switch teams and coaches at your discretion. I’ve been managing 4-5 sessions a week before I leave the house for work and am seeing real results, which is motivating me to keep going and try harder. If lifting weights is your thing, and you’re struggling to stay focussed and want someone to give you a plan you can easily follow, I cannot recommend this app enough.
Ok, but highly repetitive workouts, false social media advertising & zero time between moves

I joined after following Maia Henry on Instagram but instantly felt duped by all her ‘give me a booty band and 6 weeks’ unique Pilates style posts, only to find out there hasn’t been a single booty band or similar exercise involved, the moves are all super generic exercises, she will work legs 3 days in a row rather than alternating or appreciating that certain muscles need rest and recovery. I haven’t used other trainers but so far I find it very false advertising. Other than that, the app is fairly simple to use. Glitches quite a lot and not very easy to navigate outside of your program. There is also ZERO time in between exercises to adjust from floor to standing or different moves, for instance you’ll be lunging with light weights to suddenly on the floor on your back with one big weight to then side clamming with 0.1 seconds inbetween so you lose half the 30secs of exercise just adjusting your body into position and grabbing weights etc, then the exercise is already over before you have to be in a different position again. So it’s a bit all over the place. I’ve followed many programs and they usually give you a few seconds to adjust
