Fifth meeting of the UN Forum of Mayors

6-7 October 2025 - Palais des Nations, Geneva

Mayors from around the world will come together to collaboratively draft an outcome document, emphasizing the critical role of cities and local actors in shaping a sustainable future. The meeting will align with the 2025 session of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (New York, 14-23 July 2025), addressing themes such as good health and well-being (SDG 3), gender equality (SDG 5), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). It will also focus on climate finance mechanisms and Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs), and housing challenges.

Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED)

The Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) is the body of independent experts which monitors the implementation of the Convention for the Protection of all Persons against Enforced Disappearance by the States parties.

The Committee and its Secretariat work daily to support victims, civil society organizations, National Human Rights Institutions and States to search for and locate disappeared persons, eradicate, punish and prevent this crime, and repair the damage suffered by the victims.

The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) is the body of 18 independent experts that monitors implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights by its State parties. The Covenant enshrines economic, social and cultural rights such as the rights to adequate food, adequate housing, education, health, social security, water and sanitation, and work.

60th session of the Human Rights Council

The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system, made up of 47 States, which is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe.  The Council was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 15 March 2006 with the main purpose of addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them.
