Aims and scope

BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on all aspects of pregnancy and childbirth. The journal welcomes submissions on the biomedical aspects of pregnancy, breastfeeding, labor, maternal health, maternity care, trends and sociological aspects of pregnancy and childbirth.

  • Breastfeeding
  • Fetal medicine
  • Labor, birth, and postpartum health
  • Maternal health and pregnancy
  • Maternity care and sociological aspects of pregnancy and childbirth
  • Pregnancy and childbirth in low and middle income countries
  • Trends in pregnancy and childbirth

As a BMC Series journal, BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth does not make editorial decisions based on the perceived interest or potential impact of a study. Manuscripts are considered for publication if they are scientifically valid. For research articles, this includes having a clearly defined and sound research question, appropriate methodology and analysis, and adherence to community-agreed standards relevant to the field.
